13 best speed control of dc motor
Speed control of a DC (Direct Current) motor is an important aspect of many industrial, automotive, and home improvement applications. DC motors are widely used due to their reliability and ease of control.Speed control allows you to vary the rotational speed of a DC motor to meet specific requirements. Here are some key points related to speed control of DC motors:
Voltage Control: One of the most common methods to control the speed of a DC motor is by varying the voltage applied to it. By reducing or increasing the voltage, you can slow down or speed up the motor's rotation. This method is simple and cost-effective but may not be suitable for all applications as it affects the torque as well.
Pulse Width Modulation (PWM): PWM is a popular technique for precise speed control of DC motors. It involves rapidly switching the voltage on and off to the motor at varying duty cycles. The average voltage applied determines the speed. PWM controllers are widely used in robotics, electronics, and other applications where precise speed control is essential.
Rheostatic Control: In some cases, a rheostat (variable resistor) can be used to control the speed of a DC motor. By adjusting the resistance in the circuit, you can regulate the current flowing through the motor, thus controlling its speed. However, this method is inefficient and generates a lot of heat.
H-Bridge Configuration: H-bridge circuits are often used for bidirectional control of DC motors. By changing the polarity of the voltage applied to the motor terminals, you can change the motor's direction and speed. H-bridge drivers are commonly used in applications like electric vehicles and robotics.
Electronic Speed Controllers (ESCs): ESCs are specialized devices used in RC (Remote Control) applications and drones to control the speed of DC brushless motors. They utilize advanced electronics to adjust motor speed based on user input or feedback from sensors.
Feedback Control: In more advanced systems, feedback mechanisms like encoders or tachometers can be employed. These sensors provide real-time data on the motor's speed, allowing for precise and closed-loop control.
Microcontroller-Based Control: Microcontrollers and microprocessors are often used for precise speed control in complex applications. These systems can implement various control algorithms to maintain a constant speed even under changing load conditions.
Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs): In industrial applications, DC motors are sometimes controlled by VFDs, which can convert AC power to DC power to control the motor's speed and torque. VFDs are highly versatile and commonly used in applications like conveyor systems and pumps.
Torque-Speed Curve: The speed of a DC motor is often inversely proportional to the load or torque applied. Understanding the torque-speed curve of a DC motor is essential for proper speed control and ensuring it can handle the required load.
In summary, speed control of DC motors is crucial in a wide range of applications, from simple home improvement projects to complex industrial processes. The method chosen for speed control depends on factors such as the required precision, efficiency, and the specific needs of the application. Various techniques, from basic voltage control to advanced microcontroller-based systems, are available to achieve the desired motor speed control.

Answer: | No it is not. Lowes sells some that are z wave compatible. They are called ZSMOKE and ZCOMBO. |
Question: | I have vibration plate zen pro tvr 5910 with 100v-120v, dc motor 1.0hp what plug in horsepower resistor do i need |
Answer: | The SA521CN replaces one hard wired unit to provide the wireless connection for add-on wireless units such as the SA500. Example: My alarm system had three hard wired units. Replaced one with the 521. I then added four more units to the system wirelessly with SA500 units. Now have seven interconnected detectors in all without running any additional wires. |
Question: | Are the Horse power resistors included? What is the price of the heat sink |
Answer: | The BRK wireless smoke detector also has the hard-wire connections to interface with both wired and wireless models. Once installed, two wireless units connected everything together with my non-wireless BRK SC7010Bs in adjacent structures. It was a great solution for my detached garage. With the exception of being wireless, they function in the system like the other BRK models. (Note: Use only compatible models of the same brand) One can call First Alert to check on the compatibility of their various models. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this work for a 110v 3/4hp 4.5amp 2500rpm dc motor |
Answer: | This is a photo alarm. Your old one was an ion one. Different models respond better to different situations. Best to have both or a combination of both. http://www.nfpa.org/safety-information/for-consumers/fire-and-safety-equipment/smoke-alarms/ionization-vs-photoelectric |
Question: | is this for brushless motor or brush |
Answer: | This smoke detector is photo-electric not ionizing. Someone else can probably give you a more precise answer but I'd figure it's about the same amount of radiation as the dirt outside. |
Question: | How many watts can this handle |
Answer: | Dear Mr. Priestley, The detector comes with a mounting bracket and screws with anchors. If you are not mounting the detector into a wooden surface or a wooden stud underneath drywall then you would have to use a sheetrock anchor to mount the receiving bracket for the detector. All of that is provided and once the mounting bracket is secure in the wall or ceiling, simply align the detector tabs with the mounting bracket receivers, press in and give about a 1/4" rotation on the detector and it should hold fast. |
Question: | Sirve para los motores de las cintas de correr? arriba dice motores dc. Pero quiero confirmar |
Answer: | The alarm works perfectly |

Question: | Without using the 3 pin port, should i be able to check the output terminals with a multimeter after connecting a 12v sla battery and turning the pot |
Answer: | I have 4 different Kiddie alarms hardwired together and they work fine. One photo Electric, two ionization and one photo and ionization combo. I don't remember the exact model number. The ones I took out were 10 year old kiddie and used existing wiring and circuits. |
Question: | Is this a discrete controller or continuous |
Answer: | I wish! I had 120 in an apartment building and couldn't even begin to tell you of the countless false alarms we've had since they were installed in 2010. I never found one to mix and match with these. If it is hooked into a relay check that too as sometimes that is the problem. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the lowest ms pulse this will generate |
Answer: | The only difference between the two , is the voice alert. First Alert AC Hardwired Voice Alert Carbon Monoxide Alarm and Smoke Detector with Battery Back-Up . The SC7019B does not have the voice alert ; but everything else. They each have the same wire connect. Just remember the letters have a code meaning. S-smoke, C-carbon , B- battery back -up, V- voice alert. |
Question: | What size hole is needed to mount the forward reverse switch |
Answer: | In this hardwired design, they are interconnected to each other on your 120 volt house wiring system -- typically 14/3 Romex with ground -- black for power, white for neutral and red for the orange interconnection wire. The uninsulated bare ground wire is not used. This First Alert version does not use wi-fi or radio frequencies to talk to each other. Only the unit initiating the alarm speaks the programmed room name. The other interconnected units do not announce the room name; they only sound the alarm. It seems a little misleading to me from the First Alert description. I replaced 11 old units that were interconnected in my house with this design, and when one goes off, I have to run around the house listening for the unit speaking its room name to find the one that initiated the alarm. |
Question: | Does it have a Soft start delay if left at 100% duty cycle, & power is turned on/off by separate power source |
Answer: | In this hardwired design, only the one initiating the alarm speaks the programmed room name. |
Question: | i the toggle switch on a relay so the wire can be 100' or does all amps go through it? thus more awg ? we run a 8amp motor |
Answer: | Only the one initiating the alarm speaks the programmed room name. The other interconnected units do not announce the room name; they only sound the alarm. It seems dumb, but I replaced 11 old units in my house with this design, and when one goes off, I have to run around the house listening for the unit speaking its room name to find the one that initiated the alarm. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Before I return it: I'm using it to run a 10,000 rpm cooling fan. There does not seem a "middle ground" - only on and off |
Answer: | Absolutely none; it is the best smoke alarm I have ever bought. I placed it in a 4-foot hallway between the kitchen and foyer. |
Question: | Can it be powered by an adapter 12V 5A |
Answer: | This is only a photo detector sensor. I bought one thinking it had both given their "sees both fast and slow burning" but discovered otherwise and sent it back. I ended up replacing it with a First Alert SA320CN (dual sensor) which rates high by consumer reports and have had no issues. |
Question: | What is the PWM frequency and is the frequency adjustable |
Answer: | The red wire pictured is to interconnect the alarms throughout the house. If you only have two wires (probably white-neutral and black-hot) it is not interconnected. So if you wanted to upgrade to an interconnected for safety or code reasons you may want to consider ones that are wirelessly interconnected, although I don't have any personal experience if they are problematic. Or you could simply go with a stand alone plug in. If you read my review, I would highly recommend against the Kiddie p12040 regardless. |
Question: | Can you connect 2 motors (as long as you are under 3A), or will there be a problem? Please answer if you are the manufacturer or know for sure |
Answer: | I cannot post a photo, but if you are replacing a Kidde with a kidde, the harness hasn't changed. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I am a neophyte here. is there anyway the pwm display can be calculated to give you an estimate of rpm |
Answer: | Hello. Press the test button in the center. The alarm will test itself and the sensors and the electronics. It will then give the alert for smoke to make sure it sounds right. It should be 3 longs beeps, followed by "Fire! FIre!" and then three long beeps. It will then give the alert for carbon monoxide to make sure it sounds right. It should be 4 quick beeps, followed by "Warning! Carbon Monoxide", followed by four quick beeps. Anything else could be an error of the alarm. The alarm is always testing the air for carbon monoxide and for smoke and there is no button needed to make it do this testing. |
Question: | Can 2 units be wired in series? What would happen |
Answer: | Press the self test if it wont test make sure you pulled the plastic tape out and it must be installed on the base it came with or it wont work. |
Question: | Do the switch and pot come with it? Already clicked "buy" so hopefully its included |
Answer: | The photoelectric sensor is more sensitive to the smoldering, slow-starting fires because it can better detect the larger smoke particles that are a part of these type of fires. Definitely have one near your kitchen or any place which could easily catch fire. |
Question: | Does this have an analog input besides the pot |
Answer: | That would be an unlikely place to locate the smoke alarm; the sensor might be affected. |

Connect a voltage of 1.8V-15V DC to the circuit making sure of the correct polarity of the connection. Note that the voltage applied to the motor will be supply voltage applied to the circuit. It is recommended to add an appropriately rated fuse in line with the positive supply in order to protect the circuit from any possible short circuits.
You can now control the speed of the motor through potentiometer. Important Notes: An appropriately rated fuse (rated a little higher than the maximum current you expect to draw) is recommended to ensure safe operation. The controller is safe with a self-recovery fuse 2A. It will be damaged if connect the supply voltage with wrong polarity. Double check all connections before applying power and always turn off the power supply before making any wiring changes
Due to different batches of products, backplane style and cap color are shipped randomly
- This Brand New 1803BK DC Motor Speed Controller allows controlling the direction of a DC the motor using a Pulse-Width-Modulated (PWM) DC voltage with a Duty Cycle fully the product adjust from 0%-100%.
- With a self-recovery fuse 2A and a Power-On LED light.
- This is a speed governor with a maximum current of 2A. If the continuous current is greater than 0.5A, the 775 motor and the stroller motor will not move. Don't buy it wrong. It is not recommended to supply power greater than 12V, such as 12V lead-acid batteries, which may cause damage to the governor
- If the current is too large, it will be automatically disconnected, and the fuse will automatically recover after cooling.
- PWM DC motor speed controller with switch function.
