If you are asking in what temperatures this cord can operate, I would be very comfortable saying 0 to 120 degrees F. BUT a lot depends on the load on the cord. If you are running more than 10 Amps, OR are using this with other extension cables, then you know if can get quite hot. A 10 Amp load on 50' of 16 gauge extension cord will look like (to the box it is being fed from) 12-15 Amps; likely tripping a circuit. ALSO a 16 gauge wire might be all copper, or have some aluminum in it; again increasing its "load" and making it hotter. Exterior temps (at least 0-120) actually take a back seat to the load on the cable. (I no longer own this cable - and cannot answer your direct question; my daughter "stole" it when she moved into her apartment.) |

| Answer: | Yes it engages at a certain temp but the water will not feel warm but it will keep it warm enough for the fish. Your power bill would be pretty painful if it felt warm to the touch. We ran an air line to it as well which will keep a pretty good amount of the surface de-iced, that's how we knew it was working. If we did air without this heater there was only a small bit (maybe 3 inches) of de-iced surface but if we did air along with this unit then it kept nearly 1/3 of the surface (700 gallon pond) de-iced. We were convinced it was working. We never lost fish over winter and had better breeding results after really harsh winters with the heat and air combination. |

If they were both plugged into this extension cord, it could become a fire hazard. Like I said earlier, in most cases you should be fine. Add up the total current draw of both appliances; if they don't exceed 15 Amps, you're good to go... |
