10 best troy drywall lifts
Troy drywall lifts are specialized tools designed to assist in the installation of drywall sheets onto walls or ceilings. These lifts are commonly used in construction and home improvement projects to lift and hold drywall panels in place, allowing a single person to easily install the panels without the need for additional help.
Troy drywall lifts typically consist of a sturdy metal frame with adjustable arms and a cradle to hold the drywall sheet. The lift is operated using a hand crank or a winch system, which allows the user to raise or lower the drywall to the desired height for installation. Some models also come with wheels, making it easier to move the lift and position the drywall accurately.
Using a drywall lift offers several advantages:
Single-Person Operation: With a drywall lift, one person can handle the installation, reducing the need for additional labor.
Safety: Using a lift minimizes the risk of injuries related to lifting and positioning heavy drywall sheets overhead.
Accuracy: The lift allows for precise positioning of the drywall, ensuring a straight and level installation.
Efficiency: Drywall lifts speed up the installation process, making the overall project more efficient.
Versatility: These lifts are adjustable, accommodating different sizes of drywall sheets and allowing for use on walls as well as ceilings.
When using a Troy drywall lift, it's essential to follow the manufacturer's instructions and safety guidelines to ensure proper operation and prevent accidents. Properly securing the drywall sheets to the lift and using appropriate safety measures are crucial for a successful and safe installation process.

User questions & answers
Question: | How small of a space can this work in? Can I use it to hang sheet rock on the ceiling in a bathroom over the tub and counter top |
Answer: | You can use it without the sensor. The app is going to show an error message about not being able to tell if the door is opened or closed, but it will send the open/close command. |
Question: | Does it max out at 11’ even? My ceiling is |
Answer: | Yes, the app can manage multiple openers. A separate icon/button is created within the app for each opener. I have done a this myself. |
Question: | I have one of these but cannot seem to get it to lift greater than 8 ft, what am i doing wrong |
Answer: | It will work if the gate opens based on a momentary-close button. If your opener activates when a button is pressed momentarily, and that button is wired to the actual opener... then this will probably work. |
Question: | What makes this superior to the "GypTool 11 ft." sold for $10 less |
Answer: | the difference between Version 2 and Version3 of the garage door , V2:220V dc power supply, V3: USB power supply. Other parts of V3 version is slightly upgraded |

Answer: | You can't lock in tilt. Tilt is for loading and setting panel on wall. |
Question: | Will this handle 14' sheets |

Answer: | Yes it can. Tip it for hanging to a wall. Swing the two holders down from their folded position on each arm. Place the sheet onthe holders And lean it back against the arms. Wheel the unit towards the wall. Position the sheetrock and crank it into place. |
Question: | Does this move around on a carpet |
Answer: | The Casters are hard, I don't have first hand experience with this on carpet, just hard flooring. I think it would be a little difficult on carpet with a 12' sheet of 5/8", unless of course you put down a sheet of plywood to roll it around on, or if its low mat low pad carpet. |
Question: | is this made in USA |
Answer: | no but built well. but should have been built in the USA |
Question: | where do you go to get replacement parts such as the cable |
Answer: | I haven't had to replace anything, but I would think that the cable is the same as garage door cable. you should be able to find it at a hardware/ home improvement store. Hope that helps. |
Question: | Why you guys dont ship to Hawaii |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the shipping box dimensions |
Answer: | Approx 1-1/2". It is much better designed & used to raise doors in order to start the screws in the top hinge. It's invaluable when there's only one of you for the task. For drywall, you're much better off putting a couple of 1x3's under the sheetrock then bending down & getting your hand under then lifting. It might also crush a piece of the wall as it's a bit narrow. For doors, it's king. |
Question: | will this work on an 11 ft flat ceiling |
Answer: | I don't remember the exact dimensions, but approximately four feet by six feet by one foot... plus six inches by six inches by five feet if you are buying the one with over 11 feet lift capacity. Great lift. I hung fourteen foot ceilings with mine and it worked fabulously. |
Question: | Does it do 8ft sheetrock |
Answer: | Will lift panels FLAT to a ceiling height of 11' on its own and 15' with the extension installed. Will lift a sheet to be installed horizontally (on a wall) to the top of a 17' wall (15' to the top of the lift post plus half the width of the 4' sheet standing on the hooks with the cradle arms fully vertical) |
Question: | What is the trick to remove the vertical lifter from the wheel assembly |
Answer: | I've seen this mislabeled on several sites as a 19' lift. Will lift panels flat to a ceiling height of 11' on its own and 15' with the extension installed. Could lift a sheet to be installed horizontally (on a wall) to the top of a 17' wall (15' plus half the width of the 4' sheet standing on the hooks with the cradle arms fully vertical) |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the lowest height for loading panels |
Answer: | No. It comes with a standard extension of up to 11ft. If you need something higher, you will have to buy the longer extension that goes up to 15 ft. costs about $175.00 |
Question: | what is the shipping weight |
Answer: | It doesn’t really lock in either position. Gravity holds it in place for both. |
Question: | What’s maximum panel size |
Answer: | Yes it does. |
Question: | What country is it made |
Answer: | It had better reviews (not only on Amazon) and I've bought cheap stuff before and that's pretty much what you get....cheap stuff. We used this to hang 10 foot sheets on a 10 foot ceiling and it worked very well. The only downside was the cable would slip over a weld on the wheel spindle when raising. It scared me the first couple times until I figured out what was happening but it did not fail. Overall I was happy with the choice. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does extension come with it |
Answer: | ORDER IT FROM AMAZON & GET IT SHIPPED THERE |
Question: | Does the cradle lock in the horizontal position |
Answer: | You can't lock in tilt. Tilt is for loading and setting panel on wall. |
Question: | Does the panel cradle lock in the horizontal position |
Answer: | Yes, I lifted 3x13’ tin sheets in a 50x50 shop, I used 2x10s on top of lift for support for the metal panels. Did the whole ceiling by myself |
Question: | Being an amateur, and not a contractor, could someone please tell why this one is better then some of the ones half the price |
Answer: | I'd say the approximate height when the lift is at the lowest setting is about 4'6" to 5'. But, if you tilt the panel hooks, it would be lower on one side. (As it is in the picture). Makes it easier to load. |
Question: | I need it & i want it but i’m from puerto rico. how we can do |
Answer: | If the clear floor space is under 4'x4', it would be really tough because of maneuverability with the tripod legs. In tight places, it's hard to replace the old "T-braces" to hold up the sheet rock (made of braced 2'x4's - looks like a small version of the old telephone poles). That's usually a two-person job. |
Question: | How do you lock the cradle into the tilt position? Tilt latch only locks cradle into flat position, not tilted for loading and doing walls |
Answer: | At 11 feet the host will start to weaken. You will need to purchase the to extension to make it safe. |
Question: | I need to lifr 2x10 tin sheets to ceiling. Will this handle that |
Answer: | It should lift horizontally to 9’ and when the sheet is flipped vertically the top edge should reach 12’ |
Question: | What is the height of the lift at the lowest point |
Answer: | That one is currently unavailable. The Troy is a well made lift, did the job well. They all have some quirks but make the job much easier. |
