Answer:	Being a retired firefighter, I can inform you that all of these ladders say single use under the pretext of using it in fire conditions, ie flame impingement, heat and smoke conditions as well as water and grime from roofing material and charred wood. I think it would be better stated as 1 time emergency use. It should be pulled out and used prior to any emergency so that the family knows how it works and children can climb down it in calm conditions.

Answer:	Yes, I think so. It is fairly heavy duty, but that's a good thing. If you train the 8 yr old and revisit every few months they should be fine. Keep in mind that the 8 yr old will be 9 next year and 10 the year after, etc. You are buying this product for an emergency that may come years in the future or never at all. I would say, yes, get it. You'll sleep better with the peace of mind.
Question:	Is this really 50 foot? I only count 12 rings in the picture, and they would need to be 4 feet apart to be 50 feet long. That seems...off
Answer:	There is another company making a comparable product out of aluminum. That makes the ladder lighter. However, I believe that aluminum is not as fully fire resistant as steel is. I think That’s why the other one is listed as one time use. If you open the owner’s manual on this one , you will see instructions on how to refold and repack it. So it would seem to be Pretty clear that you can reuse this one.

As the fire will cause the metal escape ladder to bend, and the fire may touch and burn off the polyester belt, if we don't notice this and think that the product is in good condition, if there is a fire again, using this already damaged product may cause injury or even death. Question:	With a brick exterior, our window width is just over 18"", from brick exterior to the lip of the inside sill. Will this securely cover that distance
