Question:	With a brick exterior, our window width is just over 18"", from brick exterior to the lip of the inside sill. Will this securely cover that distance

Answer:	The ladder itself is 13 inches wide, but you need extra space between the studs to mount the box in the wall. We mounted our ladder in a box which is fastened to the studs due to an electrical outlet under the window.

That seems to mean that the ladder must be used on that window only though. Take a look at their website, here is what it says:"X-IT's grapple hook secures to the inside corner of the window sill. The load is transfered through the sill into the structure below the window, so a weak sill should not impact your X-IT Ladder. If you do not have a window sill use X-IT's permanent mount accessory".

Answer:	No you need a stable wide are like a window sill to mount support
