Question:	I see that there is a used one for sale that is missing a "lens hood/cap". What exactly is that
Answer:	This is a great fan. Do not waste your money on a used unit. The lens hood/cap is the white grill covering the unit-good luck on finding a grill that will offset the cost of the entire unit.
Question:	My current opening is 7.5 x 7.5 inches. Will this fan fit
Answer:	If you are installing from above the ceiling, then it will fit. If you are installing from below, then you will have to widen the dimension on the exhaust side. (The grill dimensions are 9 3/8" by 10 3/4".) This fan is not designed to be installed from below the ceiling. Changes to the installation instructions to make installation from below easier, (without making the hole larger than necessary): cut the two mounting tabs off the outside of the box with a hack saw. If you have at least 6" joists, then wire the unit using the top hole rather than the side hole, to make it easier to easier to fit the box in the ceiling. Clamp the duct connector to the duct, in the correct orientation, prior to installing the box (the instructions call for connecting the duct connector to the box prior to installation, but this prevents you from connecting the duct work as well as putting the box in the hole). Lift up the box and put your fingers through the duct hole in the box and into the plastic duct connector and feed the duct connector through the slots on the outside of the box (you will need a flashlight and a minimum of 0.5" additional clearance on the duct side to see if the duct connector is properly set--and make sure the duct connector clicks into the bottom slot. Finally, screw the box to the joist from the inside of the box and install the fan/motor and then the grill.
Question:	Why is this fan slow to start?! I just installed it
Answer:	Define slow to start. Is it 10 seconds to achieve full speed or 30 seconds? Also, does your venting have some sort of baffle or flap that opens when the fan is turned on? My fan typically spins up to full speed in a few (less than 5) seconds. In the winter months, the external flap sometimes sticks or freezes and it takes the fan a good 10 - 30 seconds to build up pressure and pop it open.
Question:	Do these all share the same dimensions? Can you fit a 100cfm motor in the 80cfm housing

Answer:	Yes. This unit can be connected to an electronic variable speed control, a timer switch, or an on/off switch.
Question:	I have a Nautilus mdl N671 will mdl n688 install in same housing
Answer:	I ordered the 671 to replace an old Nautilus N688-H. The motor fit nicely into the existing housing. The tabs even fit in the housing slots. Plug and discharge orientations were identical to the old housing. Based on this single experience. I would assume a 688 fan would fit in a 671 housing - - - but I cannot verify.
Question:	Can u replace a nautilus n721 with this
Answer:	Look at the size of the base on the Braun...then look at the opening in the ceiling...if it will fit in that part is OK. Next look at the size of the plastic grill cover on the Braun. If it will cover the hole in the ceiling (the sheetrock hole) then that is OK too.You can find the sizes in the specs of the Braun on Amazon.Be aware that replacing these ceiling fans is something of a project...not for a first time do it yourselfer...on the other hand if you are handy and have a tool or two you can do it.

Question:	Can this be operated with just a single-pole light switch? Or does it require multiple switches
Answer:	Yes, one switch is fine. I have two installed. First floor bathroom is controlled by one switch -it controls everything (so low speed fan and light come on together and humidity will kick in a higher speed only when switch is on). The upstairs bath (used more for showering) has 2 switches, so a separate light (able to dim it) and fan function switch, but again humidity function only works if fan is on (I set to low speed default). I guess to use all 3 functions separately it should have 3 switches, but I installed with pre-existing wiring and wasn’t paying to upgrade my wiring. I used what we had and yes, it functions fine for me. Personally I love them, they are super quiet and work awesome!!!
Question:	I don't have access to the attic. Can this be installed from below
Answer:	No, it cannot. This fan is designed for new construction, to be installed before the drywall is put up. Certain features of the housing make this unsuitable for retrofit. For example: The exhaust duct outlet is installed external to the housing. You really need attic access to connect the exhaust outlet. Otherwise you'll have to fish it by hand from below through a roughly 5" x 5" opening after the housing is installed and blindly guide it back into its brackets. The hanger bar brackets (external) and the exhaust outlet brackets are as wide as the face flange. So you'll need to cut a hole as large or larger than the face flange then caulk/great stuff to seal the gap. The joist mounting bracket are very strong and cannot be bent by hand. You"ll have to cut them off and then drill new mounting holes inside the housing. There are other fans available that are much better for retrofit applications.
Question:	Is this rated for use over a shower if on a GFCI circuit
Answer:	Yes. The installation instructions say that as long as it is places on a GFCI protected circuit it can be placed in a shower ceiling. http://www.deltabreez.com/Upload/SalesBinder/5_IM/3_GreenBuilder/GBR80LED_IM_e.pdf See #8 of the General Safety information.Just for your information, this fan can not be placed on a timer. This is a known issue by Delta, and they are working to design a timer for the unit. The fan amperage is so low that the a switch does not recognize the draw. The fan just cycles and never gets up to speed. The fan is also a bit louder than I anticipated. Nothing I can't live with, but a bit noisier than I thought it would be. The LED light on the unit is great! We are very happy with the warm light that is puts out.
Question:	I installed the 80cf with led (no humidity sensor). when turning it on it starts slow and then takes 5ish seconds to reach full speed. is that normal

Answer:	This fan is meant to mount permanently and cannot be removed after installation for cleaning. However, the grill is easily removable which will allow some cleaning. I believe this fan is made in the United States.

Answer:	I had this installed in my bathroom in my basement. They pulled the old one out of the ceiling and put this one in the existing hole in the ceiling.

Answer:	Thank you for your question on the model QTXE080 exhaust fan. The QTXE080 does not have a humidity sensor. The unit should be connected to a standard wall switch and should run as long as the switch is turned on. Question:	I need to replace an existing fan, what is the size of the housing? I assume this can be installed from inside the house, I have a first floor unit
Answer:	For the Broan QTXE080, the metal housing is 10-1/2" x 11-3/8" x 7-5/8". The two joist mounts run along the 11-3/8" side. The plastic grill is 13" x 13-3/4". It weights about 12 pounds. Just be sure to note that this uses a 6" diameter duct, whereas most older installations use a 4" duct.For my installations, I have one duct going out the ceiling on the 2nd floor bathroom, and one duct going out the side wall on the 1st floor bathroom. I had to cut the drywall a bit to screw in the joist mounts. My installations was to replace existing units that were cheap and noisy, this unit is really whisper quiet.

Question:	Is it loud? Can you have a conversation In front of it
Answer:	It's not very loud, yes you could have a conversation near it. Had to do a small adjustment to free the fan, due to repacking from a previous customer.
Question:	Can this be left on 24 hours/day in a utility closet
Answer:	Indefinitely, I am not sure, but it does run here in 100 degree+ temps for most of the 24 hour day and has done so for about 4 years. If the temps are not too high it might be like one of those machines that if it runs all the time it will go until the bearings go out after a bunch of years.
Question:	does this fan have a continuous duty motor
Answer:	I can only comment on the Broan 509 and the specs on their site spec sheet say "Continuous Operation: No". https://www.broan.com/Bath-Vent-Fan/Utility-Fans/Through-Wall-Fans/509 Also, the speed controller cannot be used with Impedance protected fans, and yet Broan suggest it for the install.
Question:	Is the 10" thickness the minimum, or can it be trimmed down
Answer:	When installed as directed--with all components unaltered--the minimum thickness is 9 inches. However, as other have indicated, you can reduce this further by trimming the metal components of the duct. In fact, if you managed to glue/seal the fan housing directly to the plastic vent cap, the whole assembly requires only 5 inches. So there are a lot of options to put this unit in a thinner wall. If you trim the duct work, just be sure you have means to tape/seal everything once it is in the wall. On the final step, the length of the flexible duct is what enables you to tape/seal all the connections on the exterior side before compressing everything back into the wall.

Answer:	No problem as long as your exhaust vent tubing reaches an outside source.
Question:	I want to mount this in the bedroom to remove cigarette smoke is this one okay or do i need something different
Answer:	Yes, this would be an effective way to do that. 290 CFM is much, much higher than your standard bathroom fan so you can move a lot of air. I have one of these, although for a different purpose, and it's very quiet for the air volume it moves. Just be sure to have some way of getting air into that room while you use it, through an open window or under a door. It has to pull the new air in from somewhere as it pulls the smokey air out.

Answer:	The grille dimension is 12.5" square. A 4" flexible duct from the fan was used.
Question:	Can this be used in a kitchen
Answer:	Bull on some of the answers to this question. It can definitely be used in a kitchen! You should not mount it directly over a stove though! But using it to exhaust the room of smoke as an example is fine. You would have to be cooking with grease all of the time like a restaurant for any build up that would cause a problem. I have used fans like this in kitchens for many years without any problems. Panasonic is going to say it is not a kitchen fan for one because they do not want to get in trouble when you mount it right above your cook top. OK to mount in a kitchen to clear the smoke from the occasion burnt toast or popcorn or bad smell of some cooked foods. NOT OK to mount directly above a stove.

Question:	how difficult is the install without a preexisting fan
Answer:	There are two metal mounting brackets on the fan that mount to the structure with screws. A 3" flexible duct runs from the fan to a wall or roof cap. Two adjustable 3" metal screw clamps are required to hold the 3" flex duct to the fan & cap. An electrical circuit is required to power the fan & it requires an on-off switch. This requires a moderate amount of skill.
