Question:	do you have to oil it
Answer:	Oiling the motor once or twice a year will extend the life of the motor. If the motor requires oiling, oil ports or openings will be located on both motor end plates. Use a SAE 20 non-detergent motor oil.
Question:	Has anyone retrofitted one of these to a roof vent
Answer:	I did one in a gable vent, it comes with nice instructions. I mounted it on a piece of plywood then mounted two 2x4s to the gable vent framing then mounted the plywood to the 2x4. It was easy, my 12 yr old son and I did it in 30 minutes. It was summer time in the attic so we wanted to do it fast. I bought a cheap extension and cut off one end and wired it to the leads then ran it to an outlet in the attic.
Question:	How long is the thermostat wiring. How far will it reach away from the fan
Answer:	Wiring on the fan thermostat is very short about 12" or so. I rewired it and moved the thermostat to a location about 25 feet away. This allows me to set the thermostat without having to crawl down the entire length of the attic.

Question:	Since not all studs are 16 inches apart, what is the required stud spacing required for mounting
Answer:	The studs above my garage are greater than 16", so I mounted flush with the plywood and it is light enough that it doesn't seem like it will damage the integrity of the wood. I did use a piece of plumbing strap across the back to help secure it as well as preventing minor vibration.

Question:	Does it come in 220 volts 60hz
Answer:	I looked through the Amazon offerings, but I saw no mention of voltage. I'm guessing that another company does make maybe a bigger fan, and I guess that it could run with 220volts. I guess that one might have to do some searching to find that question's answer, but I'm just happy with the 120 volt fan, and it has worked now for a number of years. Question:	Can a variable speed control be attached instead of a thermostat. What type of electric motor is it? Is it capacitive start
Answer:	I'm not sure of the of the type of motor it is. My motor is still running well, and it runs well with the thermo. I broke the AC to the motor, so that I can shut the fan down for the winter or another type of situation. I would guess that it might be a capacitive start, and over time with a speed control????

Answer:	Watts are the result of multiplying the operating voltage times the draw max current. (W = E x I). Your operating voltage on an AC fan is 120 volts. The operating current is posted on the manufacturer's label on the fan. Multiply one by the other and you get your watts. On a DC system like solar or batteries the voltage is the max output produced and the current (I) is also on the label.

Question:	Can it also be used in the winter to keep the attic cold and prevent ice dams
Answer:	Mine came with a Velcro tape . Apply the sticky side on the wood frame (be sure it is clean) and before you install the frame,use the Velcro furry side and wait a day or so to allow the tape to set/cure .Then install . I also installed a whole house cover to keep out excessive heat/cold when the fan is not in use. .
Question:	Does this fan come with a wall plug like a typical appliance? Can I just plug it into an electrical outlet or does it need to be hardwired
Answer:	I dont know. It was long time ago when I purchased it. I used velcro.

Answer:	Our kit includes white Velcro. Most shutters are aluminum and magnets won't stick. The magnetic tape we have tried is too weak and cannot hold the insulate foam pad up. Thanks! Mark - Battic Door Energy
