Question:	What is the difference between afg smt-es 3.0 & afg pro-3.0 ? I can't see differences nor different purposes. Is one quieter than the other
Answer:	AFG SMT ES 3.0 has an electronically commutated motor (very energy efficient) and the unit comes with Bluetooth capabilities. The AFG PRO 3.0 has a permanent split capacitor motor (still energy efficient) and is operated via an external thermostat.

Answer:	the fan blade itself is about 3/4 " less than the shroud, the shroud according to the spec sheet, that you can click on at the info page, says its 17 in

Answer:	It is and I would say about 20 feet long. It reached from the vent across a portion of the attic and down through an air vent grid in the furnace closet to plug.

Answer:	I'm disappointed with the noise I've experienced, although it may be unique to my install. I didn't use an "attic fan" installer but rather an electrician who was reasonably priced and trustworthy. Firstly I had him back to add 1/2" thick foam to quiet it down. That helped but I still get a humming sound at various frequencies/speeds. This might be rectified by yet another fix that I found (but haven't performed) on the quiet cool's website....https**quietcoolsystems.com/support/fix-vibration-caused-afg-smt-3-0/ I'm also disappointed that the humidity sensor has it running many evenings and night's until sunrise in inland southern California. And all day and night when it rains... Perhaps there something wrong with mine but this has been my experience...we had the same electrician add a switch up high on our wall so we can kill the fan when it rains. Great concept and potential energy savings but my own experience has been disappointing.

Question:	do you have to oil it
Answer:	Oiling the motor once or twice a year will extend the life of the motor. If the motor requires oiling, oil ports or openings will be located on both motor end plates. Use a SAE 20 non-detergent motor oil.
Question:	Has anyone retrofitted one of these to a roof vent
Answer:	I did one in a gable vent, it comes with nice instructions. I mounted it on a piece of plywood then mounted two 2x4s to the gable vent framing then mounted the plywood to the 2x4. It was easy, my 12 yr old son and I did it in 30 minutes. It was summer time in the attic so we wanted to do it fast. I bought a cheap extension and cut off one end and wired it to the leads then ran it to an outlet in the attic.
Question:	How long is the thermostat wiring. How far will it reach away from the fan
Answer:	Wiring on the fan thermostat is very short about 12" or so. I rewired it and moved the thermostat to a location about 25 feet away. This allows me to set the thermostat without having to crawl down the entire length of the attic.

Question:	would it be easy to bypass the thermostat directly to a switch
Answer:	You would half to take apart the electric starter and if its a 12mm hex one way bearing than yes it will but sometimes there different.
Question:	Which type of bearings does the motor use. sleave or ball bearings
Answer:	Is it correctly armed? It may be that the shoes are placed towards the opposite side, check the direction of rotation. If all this is correct, place the hardest springs that come on the set. Or the nut that holds the bell is too tight.
Question:	Where is the thermostat located? And can it be moved into the attic a few feet to reflect the internal temperature, not the outside temperature
Answer:	Yes it does as both the VX16 and VX18 have the same shaft. I used it on both... However, I personally have not had good luck with the aluminum clutches since the holding springs in them seem to break easily, and that means u will have a run-away situation because the clutch pieces without the spring engage the bell at very low RPM... something to keep in mind.
Question:	How noisy is this compared to others? We are looking for a fan as quiet as possible

Answer:	It is likely not rated for enough amperage and some ceiling fan switches have 4 wires and some have 3

Answer:	I looked through the Amazon offerings, but I saw no mention of voltage. I'm guessing that another company does make maybe a bigger fan, and I guess that it could run with 220volts. I guess that one might have to do some searching to find that question's answer, but I'm just happy with the 120 volt fan, and it has worked now for a number of years. Question:	Can a variable speed control be attached instead of a thermostat. What type of electric motor is it? Is it capacitive start
Answer:	I'm not sure of the of the type of motor it is. My motor is still running well, and it runs well with the thermo. I broke the AC to the motor, so that I can shut the fan down for the winter or another type of situation. I would guess that it might be a capacitive start, and over time with a speed control????

Answer:	The black rings are plastic. The fan blades and motor are metal.

Answer:	I hard wired a 14 GA. 3 wire 10'-12' extension cord that I removed the female end from. Works traffic. Shorter the better.

Answer:	Hello, thanks for your email. Depending on the size of the house, you may or may not need two attic fans. If one fan can't not effectively take out the hot air on the other end of the house, it's recommended that you install another one. Louvers are not necessary unless you care about the look. Thanks.

Answer:	Normaly these motors have a temp overload built into the windings of the motor. I have not seen one that did not have it.

Answer:	The fan housing is 15 inches in diameter. I have used gable vent fans like this behind vents that were as small as 12 inches by 16 inches and as large as 24 inches by 36 inches.

The fan comes fully assembled out of the box; only installation required is the electrical hardwiring. The shutter fan comes in 8 different sizes: 10 inches, 12 inches, 16 inches, 18 inches, 20 inches, 24 inches, 30 inches, and 36 inches. The 18-inch shutter fan has both a variable Speed ILG8SF24V and a Single Speed model. The iLIVING 30-inch and 36-inch shutter fans are only available in single Speed. For variable-speed models, the iLIVING ILG8SFSC Speed controller is sold separately.

Answer:	Hello there, Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us with your product question. This fan comes standard as exhaust (air from the fan is blown out of the front plate of this fan). If you would like to flip the fan from exhaust to intake (where the air from the fan is being sucked into the front of the plate), then you would need to follow these instructions for flipping that fan unit (see below): 1. Remove the screws on the front face plate. 2. Remove the screws on the fan cover 3. Place all addition pieces off to the side 4. Flip the fans 180 degrees 5. Re-install the guards 6. Re-install the front face plate 7. Re-install the fan cover located on the back As for the wiring of the fan unit, this is not designed to be rewired to make the fans spin any other direction.
