11 best attic fan belt
Attic fan belts are a component of attic ventilation systems commonly used in residential and commercial buildings. These belts play a crucial role in the functioning of attic fans, which are designed to regulate temperature and moisture levels in the attic space. Here's some information about attic fan belts and their related contexts:
Function:
- Attic fan belts are part of the mechanical system that drives the fan blades. They transmit power from the motor to the fan, allowing it to circulate air in the attic.
Material:
- Attic fan belts are typically made of durable materials such as rubber or a rubber composite. This is important for ensuring flexibility and longevity, as the belt undergoes regular movement and stress during the fan's operation.
Size and Compatibility:
- Attic fan belts come in different sizes to fit various fan models. It's important to choose a belt that matches the specifications of the particular attic fan unit.
Installation and Maintenance:
- Installing an attic fan belt involves placing it around the pulleys of the fan motor and the fan itself. Regular maintenance is essential to check for wear and tear, and belts may need replacement if they become loose, cracked, or damaged.
Drive Systems:
- Attic fans can have different drive systems, including direct drive or belt-driven systems. Belt-driven systems are known for their quieter operation and flexibility in terms of adjusting fan speed.
Efficiency and Energy Savings:
- Attic ventilation is important for regulating temperature and moisture, especially in warmer seasons. A well-functioning attic fan can contribute to energy efficiency by reducing the need for air conditioning and preventing the buildup of heat in the attic.
Compatibility with HVAC Systems:
- Attic ventilation, including the use of attic fans, is often considered in conjunction with HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems. Proper attic ventilation can contribute to the overall efficiency of HVAC systems by reducing the load on air conditioning units.
Safety Considerations:
- When dealing with attic fan belts or any components of attic ventilation systems, it's essential to follow safety guidelines. This may include turning off power to the fan before performing any maintenance or replacement.
If you're considering replacing or maintaining an attic fan belt, it's advisable to consult the manufacturer's guidelines for your specific attic fan model to ensure you choose the correct size and type of belt. Additionally, professional assistance may be sought if you're not familiar with the installation and maintenance procedures.

Picking the correct fan
Choosing the correct fan depends on the volume of the area as well as the air exchange rate. To pick the correct fan, insert the values into the following equation to find the CFM. Then, review the chart in the listing's images to find which fan is closest and/or contains the CFM.
Equation: (Volume x air exchange rate) / 60 = CFM.
For example: I am using my garage for repairs and need to select a ventilation fan to expel fumes. The volume of the garage is 10,00 cubic feet (40' x 25' x 10'). I want an air exchange rate of 25 (the air inside the garage is completely changed 25 times in an hour, about every 2.5 minutes). 10,000 x 25 = 25,000. 25,000 / 60 = 4,167 CFM. Reviewing the chart in the images, 4,167 fits in the 0.1SP column for the 24" fan.
- APPLICATIONS: This shutter/exhaust fan can help replace your ac unit by cooling your garage, attic, greenhouse shop or chicken coop.
- INSTALLATION: Can easily be added to a window opening or opening in the wall. The opening size is 1/2 inch larger than the stated size (for example, a 12" fan requires a 12.5" by 12.5" opening). Additional sizes are available via a different listing in our store. See asin B07ML4CTM5.
- COOLING: This VES industrial grade shutter fan cools air while removing hot, stuffy, and stale air.
- RUST PROOF ALUMINUM SHUTTERS: This shutter fan is made with corrosion resistant aluminum shutters and blades. This provides longevity to the fan and will prevent rust from forming.
- Completely assembled: No electrician is required when the fan is plugged into an approved electrical outlet

Question: | This motor comes with 1/2 shaft |
Answer: | It says, " 6.8 amps @ 115 Volts 60 hz. Resilant Cradle Base - 1/2" x 1 1/2" Diameter Shaft <- Right here is your answer Rotation - Reversible; Sleeve Bearings Automatic Overload Protection" 1 Year Manufacture Warranty |
Question: | Could i hook up a switch to this to be able to swith direction |
Answer: | These are not reversible motors, so no. You could do it with a jack shaft though. It would run the equipment the opposite direction but would only be reversible by changing the shaft in or out. |
Question: | Can someone help me with this. i am trying to replace an old motor that has 5.8 amps and fr 56z. will this motor work to replace this |
Answer: | Yes it should work |
Question: | Concerning the band saw question then this should work as the manual recomendation is 1/3 hp 1750 rpm for generral usage. i should be ok thenn |
Answer: | Potentially yes, though the mounting may not mount properly unless it's a NEMA 48 frame mount. For a 1/3hp 1750rpm bandsaw motor with NEMA 48 mounting we suggest Leeson 100955.00 and if it's NEMA 56 we suggest Leeson 113256.00 We suggest those two because they are TEFC and will keep sawdust from entering the motor. They also have a rigid mount instead of a resilient one. The resilient mount on this GF2034 in this listing is usually to minimize vibration which is why they are used mostly on blowers. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this have a pull chain or do you need to hard wire it to a switch |
Answer: | Mine has a pull chain for hi/low/off. However, I leave mine on high and put an inline remote on it so I can turn it on an off from the living room. You will need to wire it with some type cord to a standard 110V power supply. I had a power outlet already in the attic for an attic fan so I simply wired my fan via an extension cord to the power outlet. Easy. |
Question: | How many watts does it use |
Answer: | 2.8 amps on high. 120 volts X 2.8 amps = ~335 Watts1.5 amps on low. 120 volts X 1.5 amps = ~180 Watts |
Question: | What is the decibel sound rating of this fan |
Answer: | I don't have a hard number on the sound rating of this fan, but I am happy with its performance in my garage. Standing right under it you would be able to hold a conversation with somebody close to you by raising your voice just a bit. At the lower speed setting the sound drops probably about 6 to 10 dB and the conversation would be fairly comfortable. |
Question: | I live in a 1200 SQ FT Town house (Condominium) in Southern California. I do not have any roof vents. I do have soffit vent screens, I am okay to use |
Answer: | I installed this on my 1100 Sq Ft townhouse in LA. I also do not have any roof vents, but.. there are soffit vents all around the building (4 units) and it works OK for me. I have not had any complaints from my neighbors (they share the attic with me and this fan pressurizes the attic) . The only thing I worry about is the pressure comes out all around the light switchs in all 4 units. To be safe, I run it almost 95% of the time on low so it's not noticeable. If you feel the air from your own outlets and switches you know what your neighbors will feel it. They can't hear it, but I recommend you be carefull they don't complain to the management. To be fair, I am friends with the other neighbors so They know about it and would tell me, but since I installed this and used it since 2002, I think it's earned it's keep. The low pressure is good enough for me. It cools down any room I need it to right away and if I only use it when it's hot, it cools everyone else's attic as well as mine. All in all, just keep the above in mind and use it on low only till people get used to it. I think they may just think it's the wind.... ;-) |

User questions & answers
Question: | I have a two story, 3700 sf home with a solar attic fan. How much of cooling difference will adding the whole house fan make to cooling my house |
Answer: | The solar attic fan will probably make the whole house fan work more efficiently as the attic should be cooler. You can definitely benefit from the whole house fan though as it will cool your house and the attic rather than the attic only. I would only add that the 36-inch fan would probably be more adequate for your size house, but that depends also on the footage vs fan allocation. My house is 3400 sq ft and the fan works great for us. |
Question: | I live in the North East, how well do the shutters prevent cold air from sinking from the attic into the house during the winter months |
Answer: | It is pretty good at stopping the air flow but you will still loose a lot of heat. The metal shutters have no insulation value so you basically have a 3 foot square hole in your ceiling. This hole also lets in a lot of heat in the summer when the fan is not in use. There is a fix for this. There are several videos on You Tube that show you how to construct a cover, inside your attic, out of 2 inch insulating foam. It has doors that will still open and close when the fan is on. I have not built mine yet but plan to as soon as it cools off some. |
Question: | How wide are the vent veins that actually move? Will they fit between 24" on center truss giving you 22 1/2" opening |
Answer: | The cut out is 26" if i remember.. I tried to install it your method but couldnt and had to use the joint in middle method with extra wood for frame.. This fan has paid for itself already. Works great |
Question: | I have a 950 sq ft home. It says not to install in smaller that 1200 sq ft.... If I left it on low would it be ok |
Answer: | Approx 800 square foot here... We open the windows and leave the fan on low; it performs admirably. Make sure your attic venting is adequate; that makes the biggest difference. |

SAVE UP TO 50-90% ON COOLING BILLS!
A whole house fan is a primary cooling device that can significantly reduce or even eliminate the need for air conditioning in some regions of the country. Whenever it’s cool outside, it makes sense to take advantage of the cool fresh from, rather than using expensive air conditioning to cool your home. A Centric Air or QA-Deluxe whole house fan creates a cool fresh living and sleeping environment, for a fraction of the cost of A/C. It's one of the best energy saving investments you can make for your home.
MODERN
Wirelessly control your whole house fan using a wireless two-speed remote with built-in timer and temperature control.
ULTRA-QUIET
QA-Deluxe whole house fans are significantly quieter than the old traditional style whole house fans.
POWERFUL
Our powerful whole house fans mount in the attic and cools your entire home for a fraction of the cost of air conditioning.
ENERGY EFFICIENT
It's good for the planet and it's good for your wallet. It will cost you just pennies an hour to run!
QA DELUXE IS PROUDLY MADE IN THE USA
QA-Deluxe whole house fans consist of a heavy-duty state of the art spun aluminum fan housing and heavy-duty fan guard for rigidity and safety. Motor mounting brackets with rubber bushings reduce noise & vibration from the highly reliable permanent split capacitor motor and metal fan blade.
Quiet Operation
QA Deluxe fans use cloth-lined, acoustic ducting, and a suspended fan motor for noise reduction. Heavy-duty support brackets provide additional support to keep the damper off drywall, further reducing vibration transfer.
R-5 Insulated Damper
An R-5 insulated damper seals off the living space from the attic whenever the fan is not operational.
All our QA-Deluxe and Centric Air models are installed the same way.
As long the joists in your attic are typical of most homes (16″ or 24″on-center) there is no framing required. You simply cut a hole in the ceiling (or vertical wall), install the mounting brackets, damper box and ceiling diffuser with a few screws. Then connect the ductwork and support the fan assembly to the rafters in the attic. Finally, plug the whole house fan into a standard electrical outlet.
What is HVI-916?
HVI-916 is the testing procedure for measuring energy efficiency and airflow (Cubic Feet of Air Per Minute "CFM") of whole house fans. It is the true apples to apples comparisons. All other CFM ratings are whatever the manufacturer makes up.
Should I purchase a whole house fan even though I have air conditioning?
Big yes! Extremely hot air gets trapped in your attic during hot summer days. Through the late afternoon and evening, air conditioning has the chore of battling this heat that is radiating into the home. Because hot air within the house rises to the highest levels and cold air sinks to the lowest levels, air conditioning is fighting a losing battle. Customers relying on A/C alone find that they end up with a hot upper level and cold lower level.
How much does it cost to operate?
The cost to operate a whole house fan is about 10% of what it costs to run a typical residential air conditioner.
