13 best king electric electric baseboard heaters
King electric baseboard heaters are a type of electric heating system commonly used to provide supplemental or primary heat in residential and commercial spaces. These heaters are designed to be installed along the baseboards or near the floor, and they offer several features and benefits. Here's what you should know about King electric baseboard heaters:
Heating Element: King electric baseboard heaters are equipped with a heating element, typically made of high-resistance wire, enclosed in a metal housing. When electricity flows through the heating element, it generates heat, which is then radiated into the room.
Design and Installation: These heaters are designed to be mounted along the baseboards of a room, near exterior walls. They are available in various lengths to accommodate different room sizes. Installation typically involves securing the heater to the wall and connecting it to an electrical circuit.
Thermostat Compatibility: King electric baseboard heaters can be used with a variety of thermostat options, including line-voltage thermostats. These thermostats allow users to control the temperature and set heating schedules, optimizing energy efficiency.
Quiet Operation: Electric baseboard heaters are known for their quiet operation. They do not use fans or blowers, which can create noise, making them a suitable option for bedrooms and quiet spaces.
Zoning: Multiple King electric baseboard heaters can be installed in different rooms or zones of a building. This allows for customized heating control, ensuring that each area is maintained at the desired temperature.
Safety Features: Many King electric baseboard heaters are equipped with safety features such as overheat protection and thermal cutoff switches. These features help prevent the heaters from overheating and posing a fire hazard.
Energy Efficiency: Electric baseboard heaters are generally considered efficient because they convert nearly 100% of the electricity into heat. However, their efficiency can vary depending on factors such as insulation and thermostat settings.
Maintenance: These heaters require minimal maintenance. Regular cleaning of the heating element and occasional dusting of the exterior can help maintain their efficiency.
Cost: The cost of King electric baseboard heaters can vary based on their size and features. They are typically more affordable to purchase and install compared to some other heating systems, such as hydronic baseboard heaters.
Application: King electric baseboard heaters are commonly used as a supplementary heating source in homes, offices, and other spaces. They are often used in conjunction with central heating systems to provide additional warmth in specific areas.
In summary, King electric baseboard heaters are a type of electric heating system that is installed along baseboards to provide efficient and quiet heating. They are suitable for various applications and can be controlled using thermostats to maintain comfortable temperatures while offering energy-saving benefits.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can heater be installed in floor |
Answer: | The heater is designed to be installed in the wall 4" above the floor. It would not be recommended being installed in the floor. |
Question: | I just received my new heater. Are the interior components supposed to be connected to the can with just one screw? It seems a bit insecure |
Answer: | there are a couple tabs down on the bottom of the unit that hold that part in- seems to be solid |
Question: | How do you wire this up for 250 or 500 watts? i only need it to pul between 250-500 as the space i am heating is small and power is very limted |
Answer: | This can be wired for several wattages during installation, including 250, 500, 750, 1000, 1250 and 1500 watts. Please see installation guide included with the heater for requirements. |
Question: | How long do these typically last? i have an older dec2422 from 2009 that i may need to replace already |
Answer: | I have five of these that I installed as part of room by room remodels starting in 1998-99, replacing old baseboard heaters. One is a 120v and the rest are this model. We vacuum them occasionally, and twice a year we pull the grills off and clean them more thoroughly. All but one are doing fine. The one that is starting to fail is in our main bathroom. We think it's failing due to all the moisture in there since we have three teens lined up every morning for hot showers. Even then, that one's lasted 14 or 15 years, and we're replacing it with another just like it as part of a larger remodel (along with better ventilation). All the other heaters are working fine, including the ones we bought in the late 90's. I'm happy with these heaters, and plan to stick with the King brand. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this have a fan |
Answer: | This transformer only has two output contacts. You should examine the wiring for your current transformer and move them as they are currently wired. If you need a more 'educated' answer, you should contact Ring tech support. - That's certainly what I would do... |
Question: | Why does my heater keep turning off |
Answer: | The transformer is designed to thread into a knockout hole in the electrical box providing the AC power. In all modern (metal) electrical boxes, the incoming power wires will have a ground lead which is screwed onto the box. In the case of plastic (ugh!) boxes, it may be necessary to wrap a ground wire under the nut when fastening the transformer onto the box. - Other than for grounding the transformer itself, no grounding wire should be necessary. |
Question: | How many sq. ft. will this heat |
Answer: | The jumper wires are to bypass the doorbell chime. They just connect the transformer directly to the doorbell button. Currently there is no way to use your chime with the Eufy doorbell so you have to bypass the chime and use the wireless one included with the doorbell. |

Question: | what is the high and low range that the thermostat will go to |
Answer: | If it's 240v then it would be 6.25Amps. (1500w/240v = 6.25) I only add this because, I see it listed as 240 volts on the other page. |
Question: | Does anyone use a heavy extension cord with the unit? My wall socket is about 8 feet away from the space I would place the unit |
Answer: | There is no fan or delay feature in the baseboard heaters. |
Question: | What size room does this cover, please |
Answer: | It is not portable however our KP/KPH models are portable. |
Question: | is it just 1 setting - 1000W? like some of the oil filled radiators that can be set to 600W, 900W, or 1500W |
Answer: | I have the classic and after looking at the instructions which say it can use 9-24v I replaced my 16v with this one. Works fine. |

Question: | I returned you product to a local Kohls and i received an email today that the product was never received. Can you give me some info on this please |
Answer: | This is a link from Home Depot I used when I purchased mine. https://www.homedepot.com/catalog/pdfImages/0c/0c48b303-97be-48ec-82b6-ff341b740842.pdf excellent heater. I love it |
Question: | What size room with minimal insulation will this heat |
Answer: | You may use an extension cord that is designed to handle 15 amps. This cord can pull up to 12 amps. A good appliance style, one outlet 3 prong 12 gauge cord will handle this. Do not plug anything else into this cord. Always use the shortest length extension cord possible. IE Don't use a 25' extension cord for this 8 foot run. A six foot 12 g. 3 prong would be all that is needed. |
Question: | do all the cadet thermostat come with a wiring diagram |
Answer: | my experience is a 300 to 500 sq ft. but it also depends on how high the ceilings are. This is great heater, but dont expect it to be quick heating. Takes about 15 minutes for the room to heat up. |
Question: | Does this unit have any sort of control? thermostat? on-off switch? high-low control |
Answer: | there is a control, you can set so that it keeps the area heated but it 1000w all the time turn it down it comes on less. |

User questions & answers
Question: | hard wired |
Answer: | Single pole is 2 wire and double pole is 4 wire. A double pole thermostat will have a true "off" setting while a single pole will shut off when the set temperature is reached. |
Question: | How is the thermostat mounted and wired |
Answer: | single pole is typically 2 wire for 120v and double pole is 4 wire for 240v. Double pole breaks both hot legs of 240v so it gives you positive off. |
Question: | can these heaters be mounted up high, like over a door or do they have to be on the floor |
Answer: | Yes, once the desired temp has been reached it will turn the heater off. |
