12 best electric infloor heats

Electric infloor heating is a modern and efficient heating system used in homes and commercial buildings to provide warmth and comfort by radiating heat from the floor upward. This technology falls under the categories of heaters, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), building supplies, and tools for home improvement. Here's what you should know about electric infloor heating:

  1. Heating Method: Electric infloor heating systems rely on electrical cables or heating mats installed beneath the flooring material, such as tile, laminate, or hardwood. These systems heat the floor surface, which then radiates warmth evenly throughout the room.

  2. Energy Efficiency: Electric infloor heating is known for its energy efficiency. Since heat rises, this type of system minimizes heat loss, making it a cost-effective option for maintaining a comfortable temperature in a room.

  3. Zoning: Electric infloor heating can be divided into zones, allowing you to control the temperature in different areas of your home independently. This zoning capability enhances comfort and energy savings because you can heat only the spaces you're using.

  4. Thermostats: Modern electric infloor heating systems are often controlled by programmable thermostats. These thermostats enable you to set specific temperature schedules, ensuring that the floor is warm when needed and saving energy when the room is not in use.

  5. Installation: Installing electric infloor heating typically requires professional expertise, as it involves working with electrical systems and often modifying the subfloor. It's important to follow manufacturer guidelines and local building codes during installation.

  6. Flooring Compatibility: Electric infloor heating is compatible with a variety of flooring materials, including tile, stone, laminate, engineered wood, and some types of carpet. It's important to choose a system that suits your specific flooring type.

  7. Maintenance: Once installed, electric infloor heating systems are relatively low-maintenance. Regular inspections and cleaning are usually sufficient to keep them in good working condition.

  8. Benefits: Some of the key benefits of electric infloor heating include uniform heating, reduced dust circulation (compared to forced-air systems), silent operation, and the ability to provide radiant warmth, which many people find more comfortable than traditional heating methods.

  9. Cost Considerations: The cost of installing electric infloor heating can vary based on factors such as the size of the space, the type of flooring, and the complexity of the installation. While it can be more expensive to install initially compared to traditional heating systems, it can offer long-term energy savings.

In summary, electric infloor heating is a modern heating solution that offers energy-efficient and comfortable heating for residential and commercial spaces. It can be a valuable addition to a home's HVAC system, providing zoned heating and enhanced comfort throughout the year.

User questions & answers

Question: I need 24" x 60".. Can I route the last one feet wire along the side to increase the width to 24" and keep the length to
Answer: the 100x150mm that are Square/Rectangular Size: 4x6in. are too long for this case
Question: I am planning to install wooden floor (hardwood or laminate) in my bathroom. Can I use this system to heat wooden floors or is is for tiles only
Answer: I can just squeeze three Tiffen 77mm sized cases in this pouch but the front flap will barely close. Bower filter cases are even larger and are a real stretch to make fit.
Question: I have a concrete slab that I would like to add electric floor heating and tile over it. How do I avoid moisture build up with this product
Answer: Yes, it can, but you may find it too large for the 40.5 size and therefore not as convenient to use? I use it for 77mm filters and they fit very inside perfectly. It is very well made and I really like it.
Question: Can this be used when installing a drop-in tub to keep bath water warm
Answer: The belt loop is a sewn on nylon belt that closes with Velcro. The Velcro "pinches" the belt strap on both top and bottom -- it Velcro's to the body of the pack then a flap comes over and secures the closure from the other side. It is locked so well it is kind of difficult to get off. I am pretty satisfied with its security, BUT, I never use it on my belt. I keep it in my camera bag.

User questions & answers

Question: How well would this work installed on the underside of an RV with some kind of thin insulation over it
Answer: I don’t think this wire is designed to be out in the open, but I’m not totally sure. Sorry I couldn’t be more help.
Question: What should I put under the wiring to make sure it is efficient
Answer: Hello, there is a good floor insulator called Cerazorb. Cerazorb is a synthetic Cork, it has all the thermal insulation properties of cork but being a synthetic product, it has none of the disadvantages of a natural product.
Question: Does 200sqf comes in 120V already prewired for 120 no way to run 240V right now
Answer: Hello, the 200sqft only comes in the 240volt, however we have the 10sqft - 100sqft in a 120volt option. You can connect 2 x 100sqft cables in parallel. The 100sqft cable is rated at 1200watt, a thermostat can handle 1800watts aon a 120volt circuit. If you plan to connect 200sqft of heating in 120volt you'll need to include 15amp power relay to help carry the load. The max you can connect to a single thermostat on a 120volt system is 1800watts which equals 150sqft of LuxHeat floor heating. However when using a 240volt circuit the max wattage per thermostat becomes 3600watts, which equals 300sqft of LuxHeat floor heating. For all our kits you can search LuxHeat Floor Heating in Amazon.

User questions & answers

Question: Can i cut it in half and use both pieces
Answer: It will work perfectly. It's designed for a scenario just like yours.
Question: Cannot be used under a rug instead of flooring in a cold entry hall
Answer: 720 watt has a larger surface area than 500 watt size thus more wiring to cover the mat. The warmth output and temperatures is the same for all 3 sizes.
Question: Do I need to buy a thermostat to control it? Or can it be connected to a switch? Just on and off
Answer: Would you have access to the control switch? You would need to have the anti slip pad to keep the Hot Carpet from sliding. The pads does offer some protection depending on the brand you get. I have had mine on Hard floor for years and I have not had any discoloration and have not had any complaints from other users . If your worried that it might warp the standard 3/4 inch oak floor boards that would not happen. Your other worry could be discoloration and if that's the case I would play if safe and not use the product
Question: Can these be cut and wired in a series to one thermostat
Answer: I went and bought a Utilitech #0224879 timer from Lowes Home Improvement store 24 hour repeating cycle programmable in 30-minute interval for about $10.00.Programmed the timer for the desired on/off time set the current time, next I plugged the timer into the wall followed by plugging the mat cord into the timer. Make sure you leave the mat in the on position when you plug the mat into the timer.Waited for a while to see if the mat would turn off/on with the settings I decided on and it worked like a charm.Yes, the Hot Carpet will work fine using a timer! The Cord from the controller box to end of the plug is about 62 inches.

User questions & answers

Question: Is this thermostat Wi-Fi compatible
Answer: Hello, the OJ Microline UDG4 thermostat is a Programmable Touch Screen without wifi, however we have another mat kit with the Wifi version - UWG4, you'll find all our listings under LuxHeat Floor Heating.
Question: Is there a Minimum vinyl plank thickness required to put this under
Answer: Hello, a thin vinyl plank does not allow for the best heat distribution simply because of it's lack of substance, however if the cables are well covered with self-leveling compound the heat is then distributed throughout the screed, thus providing an even heat distribution. There are many different vinyl planks all with different densities so it's always best to check with the vinyl manufacturer to see if their product is compatible with floor heating.
Question: There is no proluxmaterials website, so where is installation guidlines link
Answer: Hello, the links are all online at https://proluxmaterials.com, if you not able to locate the site you welcome to send me a mail at [email protected], I'll reply with the instruction manual links.

Product features

Floor Heating Cable

The Electric Floor Heating Cable consists of a spool of heating cable.  Simply run the cable 3" apart across the area to heat using the cable guides to secure to the floor running the cold lead up the wall to the electrical box.  These heating systems are ideal for odd shaped areas or to heat around objects.  The RED HEATING ELEMENT CAN NOT BE CUT, so be sure to accurately measure the space you are heating.

Programmable Thermostat with Sensor

Honeywell / Aube model # TH115-AF-120S

The programmable floor sensing thermostat and floor sensor is designed to work with electric floor heating systems. It gives you the ability to accurately control the floor temperature for maximum comfort and energy savings. The thermostat features high-tech precision with straight forward, user friendly interface and contemporary design with backlit display. This floor sensing thermostat is digital, programmable, and includes the floor sensor. The thermostat is factory pre-programmed with a 7 day schedule that can be adjusted. This thermostat is 120 volt, rated for 16 amps, easily switching between F and C temperature scales.

THERMOSTAT FEATURES

  • AF mode-controls ambient temperature with floor temperature limitation
  • F mode controls the floor temperature using an external temperature sensor
  • Two temperature sensors-one in floor, one in thermostat for accuracy and security

Installation Monitor

The Installation Monitor can help give you peace of mind while installing the floor warming system.  Connect the system leads to the monitor prior to installation.  The monitor will "scream" a warning in the event the heating element is cut or damaged allowing you to make any necessary repairs before the heating system is embedded in mortar.  If the alarm sounds, stop work and consult the operation manual.  We still recommend checking the ohms of the floor heating system with a multimeter before, during, and after installation.

  • Red light and alarm indicates lead wires have come loose from the terminals or damage has occurred to the heating system
  • A white light indicates the monitor is operating
  • Can monitor up to 3 systems at one time when they are temporarily connected in series

CABLE GUIDES

Designed for fast installation of the the heating cable, simply loop the floor heating cable around the guide as you lay the cable system across the subfloor.

Secure the cable guides according to the planned layout using screws, nails, adhesive or glue approved for use with the given subfloor.  The heating element should be spaced 3" apart across the area to be heated.  Cable guides should be run perpendicular to heating cables.  The heating cables should have a minimum distance of 2" from walls and objects. Spacing between cable guides should not exceed 36" in distance.  Secure the heating element to cable guides by wrapping the wire around the stud.  Maintain moderate tension of cable throughout installation.  Do not twist heating element and keep the minimum bending radius of the cable to 1".

Cable guides are 12" long and can be cut to length. Includes enough cable guides for cable heating system.
