9 best nordic pure home air filters

Nordic Pure is a reputable brand that specializes in manufacturing and selling home air filters, including furnace filters. These filters are commonly used in HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems to improve indoor air quality by trapping and removing dust, allergens, pet dander, pollen, and other particles from the air. Here are some key points about Nordic Pure home air filters:

  1. High-Quality Filtration: Nordic Pure air filters are designed to provide high-quality filtration. They are constructed using various filter media, including electrostatically charged synthetic material, pleated paper, or fiberglass, to effectively capture airborne particles.

  2. MERV Ratings: Nordic Pure filters are available in various MERV (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value) ratings, which indicate the filter's efficiency in trapping particles of different sizes. Higher MERV ratings indicate better filtration performance, but they may also reduce airflow in the HVAC system, so it's essential to choose a rating that matches your needs and system capacity.

  3. Standard and Custom Sizes: Nordic Pure offers a wide range of standard filter sizes to fit most HVAC systems. However, they also provide custom filter sizes to accommodate unique system requirements. It's essential to measure your existing filter or check your HVAC system's manual to determine the correct filter size.

  4. Pleated Filters: Many Nordic Pure filters are pleated, which means they have folds or pleats in the filter media. Pleated filters have a larger surface area than flat filters, which enhances their particle-catching capacity and extends their lifespan.

  5. Compatibility: Nordic Pure filters are compatible with various types of HVAC systems, including residential furnaces, air handlers, and air conditioning units. They are typically designed for easy installation and replacement.

  6. Regular Replacement: To maintain optimal air quality and HVAC system performance, it's crucial to replace the air filter regularly. The recommended replacement frequency may vary depending on factors such as filter type, MERV rating, and local air quality conditions.

  7. Allergen Reduction: Nordic Pure filters with higher MERV ratings are particularly effective at reducing allergens in the air, making them suitable for households with allergy sufferers.

  8. Environmentally Friendly: Nordic Pure is committed to sustainability and eco-friendliness. Some of their filters are recyclable, which can help reduce waste.

When choosing a Nordic Pure air filter, consider your specific air quality needs, HVAC system specifications, and the MERV rating that suits your circumstances. Regular filter replacement is essential to ensure that your HVAC system operates efficiently and that your indoor air remains clean and healthy.

Product description

Nordic Pure MERV 12 Pleated AC Furnace Air Filters provide exceptional filtration for both home and commercial environments. Each time air passes through a Nordic Pure pleated furnace air filter, lint, dust, pollen, bacteria, pet dander, dust mites, mold spores, smoke particles, virus carriers, allergens and other contaminants are removed. MERV 12 furnace filters are comparable to HVAC filters with the rating of MPR 1500-1900 or FPR 9. While different companies use different scales to measure the air filter’s efficiency, Nordic Pure chose to follow the industry standard, MERV, as developed by ASHRAE (the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioner Engineers). No matter the name of the rating, the efficiency of all air filters is rated according to the same criteria as set forth by ASHRAE.  Nordic Pure furnace air conditioner filters are manufactured using a heavy duty, moisture resistant beverage board frame. As with all Nordic Pure furnace air conditioner filters, the material is electrostatically charged to attract unwanted particles. The media used will not promote the growth of bacteria or mold on the air filter and is better at trapping airborne particles than fiberglass filters. Our attention to the smallest of details results in a healthier living space. For fresh, clean air in your home and office, it is important to regularly change your AC filter, especially during home improvements. We recommend changing your HVAC furnace filter every 1-3 months, depending on your unique home or office environment. People with pets or those who suffer from allergies should change their A/C air filters more often. Replacing your air filter regularly not only improves indoor air quality, it helps your HVAC unit perform more efficiently.  Important Note: Almost all air condition filters have a different Actual Size (the exact dimensions) than Nominal Size (the name) printed on the air conditioning filter. It is best to measure the exact size of your A/C filter and compare it to our Actual Size to be sure your HVAC replacement filter fits!

User questions & answers

Question: Title of page says Merv 15, but description say says Merv 12, seems shady
Answer: Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We are in the process of updating our descriptions and this will be corrected. This furnace filter is a MERV 15 Plus Carbon, box of 2. We appreciate your business!
Question: I would like to know why these filters are made smaller than advertised, so the unfiltered air could get passed the filter
Answer: In fact some type of Furnace use the smaller 20X25X4 filter, I was happened got such type of carrier' furnace, I went to Homedepot and bought the standard size 25x20x4 and found the filter was bigger than the slot and can't be inserted. So you must be careful and check the real size of the filter, do not think 25x20x4 are all same size. They are NOT!
Question: Received 2 filters in plastic wrap with no markings of actual merv count. how do i know this correct filter i paid for
Answer: In our factory, we hand assemble all of our air filters, using only one MERV filter media at a time. If we are assembling MERV 12, then only MERV 12 are boxed and marked as MERV 12. The same goes for all of our other MERVs. If you ordered a MERV different than 12, you ought to have a colored sticker on the seal of the box, as follows: MERV 7 - gray MERV 8 - purple MERV 10 - yellow MERV 11 - rose MERV 12 – blue (most common MERV; often has no sticker) MERV 13 - green MERV 14 - teal 15 – orange Our production facility in Alabama shrink wraps all the filters prior to shipping and boxing the filters. They will sometimes have a product insert inside the shrink wrap. Our production facility in Oklahoma does not shrink wrap yet. On our Nordic Pure blue & white boxes, you should have the MERV rating label located on the side of the box above the shipping label. Our clean, white templates, or outer cardboard frames, are kept non-specific to save on manufacturing cost. That’s why they are not stamped or labeled individually.

User questions & answers

Question: how many filters i get for 42.94$?12 or
Answer: 6, but you can purchase more at a time, or get on the program where they auto ship
Question: Are the filters individually wrapped to preserve the carbon
Answer: No they aren't. They come in a box. Nothing is air tight anyways from the stores. Once in the vent they are exposed to constant airflow through the filter (contaiminants, moisture, etc) where these become beneficial. They'll be fine in the box if kept inside your home.
Question: My air handler is rated at 1600 cfm. Are these going to severely restrict that level of flow
Answer: I have two supply ports, the 20 x 20 and another 18 x 24, so I don't notice any restriction. If you only have one supply port, and it is 20 x 20, you should not have any more problem than you had using other filters. If this is firt use, check mfrs website would be safest answer.
Question: Why are there 1/2 the number of pleats in this as the Filtrete 1500 which should be equivalent? Worried won't be adequate filtration for me
Answer: The Filtrete 1500 is a mini pleat and this particular Nordic Pure filter is a standard pleated. We do offer a Tru Mini peat in this size, which has 58 pleats.

User questions & answers

Question: I see a couple reviewers mention that there aren't any arrows on the filters showing the direction of air flow. Does it matter with these filters
Answer: It does matter which way the filter is installed. All of our filters have arrows indicating the direction of air flow. The wire mesh side is the side that the air flows and exits from to help support the media.
Question: How many filters does this come with for
Answer: This is a box of 3 filters. Thank you for your inquiry!
Question: Why are filters with carbon cheaper than without
Answer: Not sure where you found activated carbon filters in residential sizes that were 'cheaper'?? I use the MERV13 (without carbon) and can get 4 - 20x25x2 for $56. With carbon is higher. In any case, carbon filters will have the very same pleated surfaces, and will trap just as much dust and hair as non-carbon, and BOTH types will typically last 60-90 days. The 'activated carbon' ones are better at odor trapping, but even that doesn't last till the end of the filter (Carbon is porous and fills up rapidly as stuff flows over it)
Question: What's the difference between Merv
Answer: Merv 7 filters 50-69% and Merv 8 filters 70-85% of 3.0-10.0 Microns.

User questions & answers

Question: Product description says they are made in usa, under product information it says they are made in china. which is it
Answer: Per the company's website, all their filters are made in the US.
Question: Does this filter have carbon media
Answer: This filter does not include carbon. Use the part number 20x20x2M14+C-3 to find this filter + Carbon on Amazon.com. Thank you for your inquiry. We appreciate your business!
Question: Why does the packaging not match the pictures or have a merv rating printed on them
Answer: In our factory, we hand assemble all of our air filters, using only one MERV filter media at a time. If we are assembling MERV 12, then only MERV 12 are boxed and marked as MERV 12. The same goes for all of our other MERVs. If you ordered a MERV different than 12, you ought to have a colored sticker on the seal of the box, as follows: MERV 7 - gray MERV 8 - purple MERV 10 - yellow MERV 11 - rose MERV 12 – blue (most common MERV; often has no sticker) MERV 13 - green MERV 14 - teal MERV 15 – orange Our clean, white templates, or outer cardboard frames, are kept non-specific to save on manufacturing cost. That’s why they are not stamped or labeled individually. They will only have the nominal size (nominal = name) of a filter listed by its length, height, and thickness.
Question: Why does 20x20x2 say "actual size of filter: 17 1/2 x 24 1/2 x 13/4". is this correct
Answer: Hello,The actual size for our Nordic Pure 20x20x2 filter is going to be- 19 1/2 x 19 1/2 x 1 3/4. It appears that when Amazon uploaded this listings they included the wrong size information. We apologies for this and will be contacting Amazon for them to correct this listing.

Nordic Pure 16x25x5 MERV 12 Honeywell Replacement AC Furnace Air Filters. IMPORTANT NOTE: Almost ALL filters are a fraction of an inch smaller than the nominal size printed on the filter. It is best if you measure your filter for the EXACT size and compare it to our "Actual Size" listed above. With the 4-Inch and 5-Inch filters there are many different exact sizes for the different HVAC manufacturers. Because of this, your filter may say 16x25x4 on it but really be the same as our 16x25x5. This is why we ask you to measure your filter so you aren't surprised if the filter doesn't fit! You may also want to look at our Honeywell replacement 16x25x5 filter. Just check the "Actual Size" before ordering. Nordic Pure air filters are made out of an electro statically-charged synthetic material that draws airborne particulates to it like a magnet. Electrostatic filters help trap airborne particles to protect your family from allergy causing pollen, fine dust, smoke particles, airborne plant spores, bacteria, and some viruses. A MERV 121 Nordic Pure air filter captures airborne particles as small as 0.3 microns! Our air filters do not kill germs, however, the filter media does not permit the growth of bacteria or mold. As a result, it is not necessary to add any potentially irritating chemicals to the air filter to kill germs.

User questions & answers

Question: What does the merv designation mean and is merv 12 better than merv
Answer: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=MERV+rating Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value (MERV) is a standard that rates the overall effectiveness of air filters. Higher value MERV rating equates to finer filtration, meaning fewer dust particles and other airborne contaminants can pass through the filter.
Question: Do these really last 3 months? i currently replace the 16x25x1” merv 14 monthly
Answer: This product is a 4-5-inch filter (in your question you listed a 1-inch filter. Those typically need to be changed every 1-2 months.) The effective life of your AC air filter depends on both the inside and outside conditions in which you live. It is important to regularly change your furnace air conditioner filters especially during any home improvements for fresh, clean air in your home or office. We recommend that you change your 4- and 5-inch air filter every 3-6 months to maintain maximum efficiency and economy.
Question: Is this actually a two filter package for the stated price
Answer: No, this is actually the cost per filter but they do last 4 x 6 months and I have three little dogs running around the house
Question: what is the recommended change period on these fileters
Answer: Generally, you should change your 1/2", 1" and 2" air filters every 30, 60, or 90 days; the 4", 5" and 6" air filters should be changed every 3 to 6 months, depending on your environment. Thanks, Jessica
