The Roberts First Step underlayment is going to also be 3mm thick, with a stc rating of 67. This underlayment will be made up of two sheets of plastic with polypropylene foam beads in between those. | Answer: | I did not use any staples for the 2 rolls I used for my flooring install as i figured less perforations will result in the best sound deadening properties. Used mine for a 2nd floor of a duplex and it worked well. If you lay a few boards on one end as your roll the underlayment out it doesn't move around to much. |

I installed good quality engineered flooring over it, and more than 6 months later I hear creaking and crackling noises in some places. | Answer: | This is a closed cell foam product. Therefore it will act as a moisture barrier. But the rolls are less than 3 feet wide meaning more seams. If using on a concrete type floor or below grade I would suggest using 6 mil plastic as a vapor barrier. Rolls are available 12 feet wide reducing the number of seams on the floor. Less seams equals better vapor barrier.Overall I don't think this is a great product in comparison to all the other foam or felt type of underlayments when used beneath an engineered flooring. It does a mediocre job of reducing noise and cushioning especially above grade.Do your homework based upon the finished product you plan to use. The last thing you want is to regret your decision based upon a few dollars.Good luck. |

| Answer: | The package of 50 tiles is 300 sq ft. I highly recommend that they ne glued in place. I didn’t and they shrunk leaving gaps. |
