Answer:	Yes, make sure you get an installer that pays attention to details and is local. The problem with Amazon Home Services is, they don't always use local contractors, my guy came from around 45 miles away. Best to contact local installer yourself.

You have to connect to the garage door opener via wifi on your phone and then go to the web address stated in the instructions (can't remember off hand). From there it was pretty simple. Took me a while to figure it out. I just hadn't read far enough.

What this does is allows you to see if your garage door is open or closed no matter where you are (at work, on vacation, anywhere where your phone can connect to the internet), and it allows you to open or close it from anywhere from the app. You can also set alerts so that you get notified when somebody leaves it open and you can schedule it to close at specific times. So it is MUCH more than just a remote control in your car or on your sun visor.

After their announcement to support it (which was if I remember 2015 or 2016), I actually switched all of the garage openers to be myQ compatible... which ended in major disappointment because they never got out the integration. There was a manual integration that a SmartThings user did, but even this one is now defunct.

What I found is that it is compatible with models year 1993 to present. I wasn't able to find when the Chamberlain model 3240 was made but I found its user manual which was dated year 2007. I'm fairly certain it will work but cannot give you a guarantee. Please purchase at your own discretion.

Answer:	It is really shame that Chamberlain myQ decided to NOT support SmartThings. After their announcement to support it (which was if I remember 2015 or 2016), I actually switched all of the garage openers to be myQ compatible... which ended in major disappointment because they never got out the integration. There was a manual integration that a SmartThings user did, but even this one is now defunct.
Question:	Why does chamberlain charge a fee when the other devices are free
Answer:	This is a shame and Chamberlain should be embarrassed. It's pathetic. I would rather pay $10-20 more to never pay a subscription fee as long as I own the device. Aonthly or annual fee is just sickening and it's the singular reason why I have not purchased this product. Everything I own is Chamberlain. By including a fee, they have completely ALIENATED A LOYAL CUSTOMER. Am I also understanding this correctly that Alexa does not have a subscription fee for integration?

Question:	Can the led-light be removed or disabled
Answer:	It USED to be compatible with MyQ. I had it configured for the last two years, working fine, and hooked up to Amazon Key for garage deliveries. Today, for unrelated security reasons, we had to reset all the remote codes on the 850LM and re-add them. Now the MyQ app will NO LONGER allow you to pair with the 850LM. It is not a technical limitation, it is a product marketing decision. I suspect they want to force people to shell out hundreds of dollars to upgrade their whole garage door system if they want internet access. It's a very lame decision by liftmaster to break something that was ALREADY WORKING.

Answer:	The 850LM acts the same as a simple doorbell switch. If your Genie opener has contacts for a remote wired switch, then it should work. Just connect it to the same two contacts as the switch, and connect it to a power supply. I purchased a LiftMaster 811LM transmitter for use with my 850LM receiver. It's cheap, and works very, very well. A 813LM transmitter will also work.
