Answer:	The picture shows metal snaps, but we just bought one and the are plastic. My 10 year old son cannot snap them onto the helmet. I had to switch them out with the metal ones that came with the cheap strap on the team helmet. He has no problems snapping those. I highly recommend not buying unless you have metal clips and swap them. Your coaches will not like having to snap them 10 times during practice.

Answer:	I don't think so. That pad slides on with chin straps that can be removed. I'm familiar with the Xenith helmet line. In my opinion, I don't think there is any way to do that except cutting the pad and somehow stitching it back together, which would most likely ruin the pad.
