Answer:	I have no scale, but it is 12" long. Pertinent point is (like all mallets I know of) this is a little too short. Wgen using this to work in a pocket, you'll smack the index finger knuckle of your thowing hand against the heel lace of the glove. Couple times is not so bad, but after a while, you'll skin your knuckle. Wearing a work glove on the throwing hand helps, but the real solution would be for manufacturers to actually use their product once and learn to make the handle 3-4 inches longer.

Answer:	Unfortunately we haven't. Our son hasn't mentioned it feeling any different from his travel bat so we've had no concerns. If you're deciding between this one and the Ghost, definitely go with the Beast 😀

Answer:	We just purchased the Beast - 30 inch 20 oz for my son who is the same height and weight - really strong kid. not too heavy but durable enough to enhance strength, Wouldn't use this bat at cages.

Answer:	Its a thermal alloy (aluminum) bat. My 8yr old uses the same bat. He loves it and it performs quite well. It's also a USA stamped bat which is required with most leagues this year. So to answer your question...its metal. Composite bats are also considerably more expensive. Good luck!
