Answer: This is a great muzzle! All i can say is i use the horse size on a 15 hand appendix quarter horse. I imagine the extra large is huge

Answer: I would say no...hay on the ground or grass..my mini has this muzzle and grazing grass is difficult...this muzzle restricts intake of food very well. Best to limit hay instead...small portions throughout the day instead of a huge round bale. if horse is insulin sensitive. Low sugar grass hay.
