Answer:	In this case the ply isn't what really matters, because we are talking about different materials For example 4 ply of paper would not do anyone any good. In the case of these chaps, they meet or exceed all testing from the UL in the US and Canada. The Standard is ASTM F1414 in accordance with ASTM F1897I did a test video on Youtube with my saw and strapped these to a log. It stopped my saw faster than you could blink your eye.

Answer:	Two cycle gas chainsaw engines produce a pulsating torque due to engine cycles. It is the pulsations that enable Kevlar fiber to stop the chain and kill the engine between cycles even at 11,000 rpm. Electric motors produce a smooth, non-pulsating torque. Even if the Kevlar fiber stops an electric motor it will resume turning if it can. Even a lower horsepower electric chainsaw might chew its way through Kevlar.

Answer:	I can tell you that the XL for 34" waist is a little too much. I'm also 34 waist and the XL is too big, the chaps fall off so I will need to add an additional hole to tighten it more (when I get a chance). My thighs are smaller (about 23") and they are the reason why I bought an XL. At first I had ordered an L and it felt a little tight... so I exchanged it for the XL. I now think I should have stayed with the "L". So for you, I think because of your thighs you will need the XL. And what you can do if they fall off is add another hole to the belt part, which is what I'm going to do with mine.

Answer:	Well now, that's odd! My chaps don't even have a crotch. They're open for ventilation. Other than that, mine are pretty symmetrical. Perhaps yours are miss-cut?
