Answer:	Yes. When you make or answer a call, the word "MUTE" appears on the lower left of the screen. The button right below the word becomes the mute button. My old Panasonic had a dedicated mute button but on these phones the buttons right underneath the screen are multi purpose

Answer:	I guess, if you pack it well - something flat on the bottom - it will stand. However, being reasonable, you cannot expect miracles from a backpack which purposefully was created to be very light and foldable. And that's exactly what I bought it for and it is living up to its purpose very well. I can highly recommend it.
