User questions & answers
Question: | Will low height rings fit this scope & a remington |
Answer: | Yes this will fit with a low height rings on a Remington 700! I have one mounted on a Remington 700 bdl |
Question: | Is it good in dark areas |
Answer: | Me owning both a 44mm and a 50mm I’d say if you want one for lower light go 50mm. I’ve heard that it doesn’t matter but like I said i have both.. the 50mm you can see earlier in the morning and later into the night.. only down side is if your facing a sun rise or a sun down the 50mm absorbs to much light causing a glare.. you can buy a screw in extender that takes care of that tho.. hope That helped |
Question: | will this scope hold up to the pounding of the AK47 recoil |
Answer: | This is an amazing scope. Like the others have said handling a 416 rigby and a 338 win mag itll hold up to the 7.62x39 for sure. I know ur thinking probably about the continual jarring of a semi automatic but this scope holds up just fine. Best thing is u cant go wrong with vortexes warranty. I have two a 2-7x32 on my 375 HH, and a 3-9x40 on my .30.06, and only had one issue on the 3-9x40 from a shooting trip after i got it home i guess it got knocked around too hard and there was like dirt inside of the glass. I called vortex they sent me a sgipping label and said well fix it ir replace it and in a week or two i got my scope back good as new. I love vortex the scopes are great, and the customer service cant be beat. |
Question: | Does this scope come with flip up scope covers? If not, any recommendations |
Answer: | The scope does not come with flip up scope covers. I purchased Butler Creek ones and they work great. For the eye piece go with size 14-15-16 (their sizing is weird) and for the objective go with 13-15. They work great and I have no complaints. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How useful is the manual |
Answer: | I guess its fine as manuals go. Its in English so that's a plus. It also is good if you need to start a fire or need something to read when your on the john, lots of versatility i guess. |
Question: | will it attach to a tripod or camera stick |
Answer: | Yes it will attach to a tripod, a camera stick and a rifle, see the comments section under this item at the Vortex site (www.vortexoptics.com).It may take a little work, but it's easy to make it fit a tripod and the buffer tube of an AR-15.LF |
Question: | have a belt clip |
Answer: | Yeah, a huge metal belt clip. and comes with a pouch as well. both are not very useful. But the mono itself and the R/T are awesome! |
Question: | Is this a range finder? Thank you |
Answer: | Yes, it does contain a range finder. It is an optical rangefinder based on a graduated reticle. It is not an electronic rangefinder where you press a button and get a number. To use the Vortex R/T (Ranging/Tactical), you need to know the approximate height of the object. That info, combined with the built-in reticle will give you the distance. An internet image search will give you a picture of the reticle, and several sites have info on how to use it. As an example, if a human (2 meters tall) viewed through the scope was 3 hash marks high (milliradians) then the distance would be 2 meters X 1000 / 3 (hash marks) = 666.6 meters (give or take). As a side note, I really enjoy mine, goes with me often on hikes. Well built and compact. |

R/T Ranging Reticle
Hashmarked ranging reticle using mrad based subtension lines for ranging, holdover, and windage corrections. Quick-ranging silhouettes. The R/T ranging reticle is based on a form of angular measurement called the milliradian (mrad for short). These angular measurements allow a user to calculate ranges when comparing the reticle to objects of known dimension. The key to effective ranging using this reticle is knowing common objects in your vicinity and their measurements.

Designed for quick single-handed operation, simply place the thumb and forefinger on the focus wheel and turn to move lens forward or backward.
• Top focus wheel adjusts the reticle.
• Bottom focus wheel adjusts the image.

User questions & answers
Question: | im unable to keep the Wraith sighted in. What could be the problem? How to fix |
Answer: | I would contact UUQ customer service. From what I've read, they are very helpful and accommodating. |
Question: | Will this work with a 300winmag? Does it work equally well for a daytime scope |
Answer: | I dont know how big your blackout pistol is, so very hard to answer ... but if this helps the scope is about 13 inches long and approx 4 inches high to the top of reflex sight. It is somewhat heavy, as it made my 15-22 about twice as much weight as it was without. However, if you have the room for it, i still think its a great little scope. I would say however that for my 22 its fine, but if you are going to do long range shooting, the optics are clear, but paralax is lacking. if you want to use 16x you better be looking at something a long way off or it will be fuzzy. Hope this helps |
Question: | Anyone put this on a scar 17 yet |
Answer: | There's a dial on top of the eye piece, it has five brightness settings and off. |
Question: | Does it come with cr123 batteries? Or do i need to purchase these |
Answer: | Yes. It’s a great scope. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I have Vortex 10x42 binoculars, would this give enough additional range to use as a compact spotting scope for hunting |
Answer: | Yes, and no. The binoculars should give you a wider field of view at distance than the monocular. But the monocular glass is very good - on par with Vortex's riflescopes with HD glass, and the milling reticle gives you ranging options if you know how to use mils. That said, I keep a set of 10x42 binos and a 1200 meter range finder in my backpack rather than the monocular, which it turns out I haven't used all that much. I have primarily used it as a spotting scope at the rifle range, for distances under 200 yards. |
Question: | Is this night vision, thermal, or just for day time |
Answer: | It’s a day time optic, with a non-illuminated milling reticle. The glass is really clear. I have used it to watch lunar eclipses at night, but otherwise it has the same night time limitations as any other quality daytime optic. I like mine, and keep it in my EDC bag. It’s a little too big to carry on the belt, even though the carrier includes a belt loop. But I have used it a number of times, even as a improvised spotting scope at the range when spotting for other shooters. |
Question: | Is this in first focal plane |
Answer: | Focal plane is irrelevant for this optic because it's a fixed power optic. It has a focusing ring, but it it has no variable power ring. The image does not zoom in or out, therefore it's not relevant whether it's FFP or SFP. That said, the glass is very clear - at least as clear as my Vortex Viper PST (FFP) 4-16x50 riflescope - and the reticle appears to be the standard Vortex MRAD, with the addition of ranging silhouettes for 300m, 400m, 500m, and 600m located in the lower right quadrant. It's a very nice piece, but it is bigger and heavier than I thought it would be. I gave my son the 8x32 Recon R/T Tactical monocular for Christmas a couple of years ago, and while it is less powerful, it is much more practical for everyday use. Both of my longer range riflescopes, the above mentioned 4-16x and a 5-20x, are more powerful at full magnification than this optic, and also have MRAD type reticles, so this monocular doesn't even get used as a spotting scope. I think where it probably shines is for use by the spotter of a 2 person sniping team for ranging targets.I hope this information helps. |
Question: | Does this model give clear view past 500 meters |
Answer: | Yes. The ranging silhouettes go out to 600 meters, but the hashmarks on the reticle are in MRAD, and they give you about 100 mils of total elevation from top to bottom, and a 100 mils of total windage from left to right; and 15X magnification is sufficient for well past 1,000 yards. Vortex glass is not the very best you can get, but it is pretty darn good. I own a couple of Vortex rifle scopes and I am very satisfied with them and have shot past 500 yards with them. The glass in this monocular is comparable to the rifle scopes. My only complaint about this monocular is its size and weight. It is fine as a range instrument in the role of a spotting scope (it comes with a miniature flexible tripod that fits in the same case), and it is fine in a backpack for an extended hunting trip on foot for long range hunting purposes. Where it fails is as an EDC optic for daily use, where the 8x36 Solo R/T is a better choice. I bought my son the Solo R/T for Christmas last year, and it is much lighter and smaller, and more convenient to carry daily in your EDC kit. It has the same reticle, but with "only" about 70 vertical and horizontal mils, and at 8X, it has more than adequate magnification for any uses most of us will run into......even out past 500 yards (by comparison, 4X magnification on an ACOG takes you out to 600 yards), in a package that is significantly smaller and lighter. Would I recommend the 15X monocular to someone else? Sure. I'm happy with mine. But the truth is that for most people, in most situations, it is a little bit of overkill. |

Adjust the Image Focus

Adjust the Reticle Focus
The reticle focus, located on the eyepiece next to the eyecup, adjusts the sharpness of the reticle. While looking at a blank wall or blue sky, turn the wheel until reticle is as sharp as possible. Once set for a particular user, that user will not need to adjust the reticle focus again.

Question: | Best scope ring height for bolt action use |
Answer: | My custom 700 Rem,.Bolt Gun. 308 Palma chambered @155 grains. General Plasterized Hart barreled Beast uses a 20 moa Leupold mount .... With ....Medium Height... vortex rings...... For my Hog Killin 56mm. Vortex |
Question: | Is the scope specifically made for a certain caliber |
Answer: | No, it’s either Designed to work with Minutes of angle or mill radians the multiplayer for minutes of angle aka MOA is 1.047 or roughly 1 inch at 100 yds and with the 1/4 MOA turrets that’s roughly 1/4” at 100 yds both in elevation (up and down) and Windage (left to right) milliradian aka MRAD one milliradian is 3.6” at one hundred yards and the value of each click is 1/10th of a mil so each 1/10th is .36 of one inch for people new to scopes the MOA is usually easier to use however both measurements are angular so at 200 yds one MRAD is 7.2” and 1 MOA IS 2.094” to answer you’re question further the answer is no they are not Bullet drop compensation Reticles aka BDC but there is great information out there on how to better use you’re Reticle for range finding and instead of adjusting the turrets instead use the reticle like a BDC and use hold over values |
Question: | Does anyone have any data to support using this on a win 300 mag platform? curious if it can handle the recoil forces. thanks |

The Razor HD 5-20x50 is a state-of-the-art long-range performer built on a solid 35mm one-piece tube and packed with more than a dozen unique performance and optical features—including a precision-etched first focal plane reticle. Dual use for Shooting Tactical/Hunting.
EBR-2B MOA Reticle
- The EBR-2B (Enhanced Battle Reticle) is a ranging reticle using MOA-based subtension lines for ranging, holdover, and windage corrections. Heavier windage dot references on the drop lines increase visibility at all magnifications as well as during low light conditions. Numbered subtensions on the crosshairs ensure quick and easy referencing.
- Illuminated reticle provides precise aiming under low-light conditions.
- First focal plane (FFP) reticles are located near the windage and elevation turrets in front of the image-erecting and magnifying lenses. This style of reticle will visually grow and shrink as you change the magnification. The main advantage of an FFP reticle is that the reticle subtensions used for ranging, holdovers, and wind drift corrections are consistent at all magnifications. The reticle is heavier at higher magnifications and finer at lower magnifications.
Optical & Convenience
Optically Indexed Lenses: Optimize image sharpness and brightness from edge to edge.
HD Lens Elements: Premium HD (High Density) extra-low dispersion glass delivers the ultimate in resolution and color fidelity, resulting in High Definition images.
MAG-View Fiber Optic: Provides a highly visible reference point for the magnification setting.

User questions & answers
Question: | This is a stupid question. But how do i change the battery? The cross hairs are not lighting up |
Answer: | Yes, but it doesn't shine far enough! Buy you a stronger light! |
Question: | Will it fit a Ruger Mini |
Answer: | I bought this for my husband's rifle. He said he thinks it might but isn't sure since he can't see your pellet rifle. He said if your pellet rifle has grooves where the sight is, it should work fine on it. |
Question: | What is the warranty |
Answer: | Yes |
Question: | will the scope works for air rifle |
Answer: | I always piont the light up at about 45 degree angle turn it on and slowly bring the circle of light down to shine directly at the target area. That way it is not a sudden flash and the animals dont startle. I have had deer and rabbits within 10 yds and using the start in the sky method they remain right there. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this come with the spring loaded flip lens caps like the original 1x |
Answer: | No it has rubber caps that are attached to the battery cover. |
Question: | Is this reticle for 300 black out, 5.56, or |
Answer: | I presume you are asking about the 3x Gen II prism scope, not the Spitfire red dot. From the Vortex literature, it appears that the BDC was designed for the 5.56/.223 cartridge, since that is the only cartridge mentioned by Vortex. |
Product features
Powering Up/Illumination
Press the up (+) or down (-) button to turn on the illumination. Press and hold the up (+) or down (-) button for three seconds to turn illumination off.
To adjust the illumination:
The Spitfire HD Gen II sight offers 12 brightness settings, the lowest two settings being ultra-low for use with night-vision equipment. Adjust the brightness by tapping the up (+) or down (-) button. The sight will return to the last used brightness setting when turned on.
Reticle Focus
1. After mounting the sight, point the sight at a blank white wall or up at the sky.
2. Starting with the fast-focus eyepiece all the way in, glance through the optic. If the reticle is not in focus, rotate the eyepiece out counter clockwise slightly, and look through the optic again.
3. Repeat this process until the reticle is in sharp focus.
Turret Adjustments
The Spitfire HD Gen II features dial adjustments and a reticle scaled in Minute of Angle – MOA. 1 MOA will always subtend 1.047" for each 100 yards of distance. Your optic will have 1 MOA clicks. Each click moves your point of impact roughly 1" at 100 yards, and a 1/4" at 25 yards.
To adjust the settings:
• Turn the elevation or windage dial in the appropriate direction as indicated by the arrows. Rotate the dials in the direction you wish the bullet’s point of impact to go.
Mounting
1. Loosen the base crossbolts and attach the Spitfire HD Gen II to the rail/base with the illumination dials facing toward the rifle’s left.
2. Make sure the recoil lugs are solidly seated in the base groove by pushing the optic forward, towards the end of the muzzle.
3. Be sure the base clamp is hooked around the outside of the rail/base. Torque base screws to 20-22 in-lbs.
Mounting Micro Red Dot Sights (MRDS) - (5x Models Only)
1. Remove the MRDS cover plate by removing the two screws. Retain screws for use with MRDS cover plate.
2. If the Weaver/Picatinny mount is attached to the MRDS, remove the Weaver/Picatinny mount.
3. Install the MRDS to the platform. Install the respective screws for the Viper or Venom and torque to 10-12 in-lbs with blue Loctite.
