14 best tactical scope with sniper reticles
Tactical scopes with sniper reticles are specialized optical devices designed for precision shooting, particularly in long-range and tactical scenarios. These scopes are commonly used by military and law enforcement snipers, as well as precision rifle shooters and hunters who require extreme accuracy at extended distances. Here are some key features and components of tactical scopes with sniper reticles:
Magnification: Tactical scopes often have variable magnification settings, typically ranging from 4x to 25x or more. This allows the shooter to zoom in on distant targets for better visibility and shot placement.
Objective Lens Diameter: The objective lens size determines the amount of light that enters the scope. Larger objective lenses gather more light, providing better low-light performance.
Tube Diameter: Most tactical scopes come in either 1-inch or 30mm tube diameters. The larger tube allows for more adjustment range and can provide additional strength and durability.
Reticles: Sniper reticles, also known as mil-dot or tactical reticles, feature markings that help shooters estimate range, compensate for wind and bullet drop, and make precise adjustments. These reticles often have hash marks, dots, or lines that correspond to known measurements, making it easier to calculate corrections quickly.
Illumination: Many tactical scopes offer illuminated reticles with adjustable brightness settings. This feature aids in low-light conditions and allows shooters to quickly acquire the reticle.
Turrets: Tactical scopes have exposed turrets that allow for easy adjustments to windage and elevation settings. These turrets often have audible and tactile clicks to ensure precision when making corrections.
Parallax Adjustment: Some scopes have a parallax adjustment turret, which helps eliminate parallax error for more accurate shot placement at various distances.
Focal Plane: Tactical scopes can have reticles in the first focal plane (FFP) or second focal plane (SFP). FFP reticles change in size as the magnification is adjusted, while SFP reticles remain constant in size. The choice depends on the shooter's preference and intended use.
Lens Coatings: High-quality lens coatings improve light transmission, reduce glare, and enhance image clarity. Fully multi-coated lenses are desirable for superior optical performance.
Durability: Tactical scopes are built to withstand harsh conditions, including recoil from powerful firearms, extreme temperatures, and rough handling. They are often constructed from aircraft-grade aluminum and sealed to be waterproof and fogproof.
Eye Relief: Adequate eye relief is essential to prevent "scope eye" and ensure shooter safety. Tactical scopes typically offer a generous eye relief to accommodate high-recoil rifles.
Zero Stop: Some scopes have a zero stop feature that allows shooters to quickly return to their zero settings after making adjustments for different distances.
When selecting a tactical scope with a sniper reticle, it's crucial to consider your specific shooting needs, the type of firearm you'll be using, and the distances at which you plan to shoot. Proper training and practice are essential to fully utilize the features of these scopes and achieve accurate shots in tactical and long-range shooting situations.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can anyone speak to this scopes low light performance |
Answer: | 30 mm scope rings, definitely "High" mount separate rings or a Cantilevered AR mount with 1/4" - 1/2" risers below the AR mount. |
Question: | does this have a mil dot reticle |
Answer: | Not sure, I do not prefer Butler Creek scope covers, the scope comes with Vortex cover/caps, if I were to go with an alternative to the factory covers I would go with one of the bikini style that cover the entire scope, several manufacturers make them. |
Question: | How far can you shoot with this |
Answer: | That would depend on the setting. The optics on the scope are crystal clear but I don't see that it gathers more light than cheaper scopes. You get what you pay for. If you want world class or if you're only getting 1 scope to last for years and years then go buy a Leupold. If you're easy to please, get the vortex. |
Question: | what size flip cap covers fit on here |
Answer: | I don't know if this will work on your gun or not. I had a hard time making it work on my rifle, a .300 win Mag., but I did get it to work and the scope worked most excellent. I would recommend that you use a pictinney rail base with at least 15 MOA rise. I would also recommend that you go with the highest Vortex rings you can fine. |

Product Overview
Specifically designed for discriminating hunters and shooters, the Diamondback Tactical series of Riflescopes offer the highest levels of performance and reliability. With generous long eye relief, rugged construction and precise, smooth controls, the Diamondback Tactical Riflescopes are ready for any situation.
Exposed tactical turrets built for dialing elevation and windage allow quick and precise bullet drop and wind drift compensation at extended ranges. When we say precise-we mean it. These turrets track better than any Bloodhound and reliably return to zero every time. A zero-reset feature lets you re-index the zero reference marks on both turrets after sight in, while fiber optic rotation indicators integrated into the turrets provide a visual cue of your turret’s position.
Dual use for Shooting Tactical/Hunting.
VMR-1 MOA Reticle
- Designed to maximize long distance shooting and ranging abilities, the VMR-1 MOA reticle can be used to effectively determine ranges, holdovers, windage corrections and moving target leads.
- Second focal plane (SFP) reticles are located near the scope’s eyepiece behind the image erecting and magnifying lenses. This style of reticle does not visually change in size when you change the magnification. The advantage of an SFP reticle is that it always maintains the same appearance. Listed reticle subtensions used for estimating range, holdover, and wind drift correction are only accurate at one particular magnification.

User questions & answers
Question: | Mounting rings 3/8 inch |
Answer: | I think he's asking if the rings are 3/8 dovetail, which is a common alternative to weaver in .22 rifles. I'd like to know as well. |
Question: | Hi everyone, will the ring mounts be high enough to clear a Ruger AR 15 fold down rear sight and also clear the front one?! Thank You |
Answer: | There is a lil over a inch maybe a inch and a half from rail to scope .. But that's on my crossbow I'm sure it might be different on an ar.. Hope this helps |
Question: | Is it good for airsoft the sport |
Answer: | It will work .. but this is ment for a cross bow . It has drop in the scope for bolts . That being said it still has cross hairs . So yes it will work but it will have extra stuff inthe scope that has nothing to do with youre sport .. hope this helps sorry its late |
Question: | what is the eye relief with this scope |
Answer: | Seems like a 4 inch eye relief is about right. I tried to go farther but it just got blurred any farther then that. |
- The 1-4x24 Crossfire II riflescope is one of many configurations in the Crossfire II line. The V-Brite reticle uses the V-Plex format with battery-powered electronics to illuminate the center dot for hunters/shooters during extra-low light conditions.

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this scope really weight 2.6 pounds |
Answer: | I didn't really weight it as itself but it didn't add much weight to my gun. My Remington 700 with heavy barrel was heavy already. |
Question: | Would this work on a ruger 308 precision rifle? Model |
Answer: | I dont see why not. You will need high rise scope mounts though. I have it on a Ruger American 30.06. |
Question: | Does this have an illuminated reticle |
Answer: | It has a illuminated center dot that lights up red. Very nice to have. I've had scopes that had the whole reticle light up and it was way too much goin on in the scope and it would drain the battery way too fast. The center dot is simple effective and great on the battery. Plus with the crosshairs you won't even need the dot about 90% of the time. |
Question: | How is the glass? Sight clarity? Especially when you put it at |
Answer: | Excellent for the price. Not going to compare to my Razor HD in glass quality or features, but $200 vs $2500, it's unbeatable value and warranty. I have at least 7 crossfires of different sizes on calibers from 22 to 30 cal. Clarity is good enough to watch the bullet trace from a 22lr hit paper at 100 yards at 24x and see all of the bullet holes. Clarity further out is still quite good as well. I highly recommend them. |
- Day/Night mode – full color viewing for day use; black and white or classic green for night vision mode
- High-definition sensor – high resolution imaging with video recording in 1080p HD
- 8x digital zoom – a 2x optical system for up to 16x magnification
- HD photo or video recording (memory card not included).

User questions & answers
Question: | im unable to keep the Wraith sighted in. What could be the problem? How to fix |
Answer: | I would contact UUQ customer service. From what I've read, they are very helpful and accommodating. |
Question: | Will this work with a 300winmag? Does it work equally well for a daytime scope |
Answer: | I dont know how big your blackout pistol is, so very hard to answer ... but if this helps the scope is about 13 inches long and approx 4 inches high to the top of reflex sight. It is somewhat heavy, as it made my 15-22 about twice as much weight as it was without. However, if you have the room for it, i still think its a great little scope. I would say however that for my 22 its fine, but if you are going to do long range shooting, the optics are clear, but paralax is lacking. if you want to use 16x you better be looking at something a long way off or it will be fuzzy. Hope this helps |
Question: | Anyone put this on a scar 17 yet |
Answer: | There's a dial on top of the eye piece, it has five brightness settings and off. |
Question: | Does it come with cr123 batteries? Or do i need to purchase these |
Answer: | Yes. It’s a great scope. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I'm putting this scope on my AR what height rings and offset would be good for this with a large 56 diameter do I need High rings |
Answer: | I bought 1.45 inch rings. Perfect height to retain cheek weld. |
Question: | Does butler creeks size 51 scope cover fit this objective |
Answer: | Vortex claims 31 mils of elevation adjustment, mine has slightly more. With a 40 MOA rail the scope has about 26.5 mils of up elevation adjustment. This is beyond what my abilities can accurately produce. The rifle and bullet combo i have should get out to at least 1900 meters. |
Question: | could you count antlers at 100 yds at dusk |
Answer: | Jason, Not at all. I bought mine specifically to for my .22 (to use primarily at NRL .22 matches) that I only shoot out to 300yds. The clarity, magnification range, and 15 yard parallax setting are all very useful. As far as magnification-better to have it and not need it if on the fence-the 25x may come in handy to ID deer, etc. Lower ranges extremely clear as well. You won't be disappointed! |
Question: | I am wanting this to put on an ar 223 5.56 will it be a good match on this rifle and what type mounts would you recommend. Thank You in advance for yo |
Answer: | Yes, it comes with both rubber caps and screw on shade. |

Viper HS LR 6-24X50 XLR (MOA) Riflescope (VHS-4315-LR)
Want to extend your effective shooting range at distances where bullet drop and wind drift become critical? Take a look at the Viper HS LR riflescope. The LR stands for long range — and we mean it. This riflescope features an exposed target-style elevation turret built for dialing elevation at extended ranges. The capped windage turret maintains the scope’s sleek lines and prevent it from hanging up on clothing, rifle cases or pack scabbards.
Viper HS LR riflescopes feature an advanced optical system highlighted with a 4x zoom range for magnification versatility. A forgiving eye box with increased eye relief gets shooters on target quickly and easily. Built on an ultra-strong 30mm one-piece machined aluminum tube for increased windage and elevation travel and optimal adjustment.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this scope brand new in box not a refurbished with full warranty |
Answer: | That depends on where you run your cheekweld, if it's nose-to-charging-handle then you need the extended mount. If it's farther back from the charging handle then you need to standard mount. |
Question: | Does it come with sunshade |
Answer: | The PA 4-14x44mm w/ ACSS HUD DMR .223/.308 reticle should work just fine on a 30-06 Remington 700. The 30-06 and .308 rounds are very close ballistically speaking so you would be close on the reticle. We recommend using a ballistic calculator like the Strelok app to create a cheat sheet for the reticle for your specific loads. |
Question: | What height rings do you need - medium or high |
Answer: | The eyepiece on our 4-14x44FFP optics will accept covers 43.9mm in size. |
Question: | I ordered medium rings..will they work with this optic |
Answer: | This scope is primarily for .308 Win or 7.62X51 caliber rifle or a 5.56X45 shooting 75 or 77 grain boat tail ammo. The 6.5 Creedmoor has a flatter trajectory, similar to a .300 Mag |

User questions & answers
Question: | I hve two air rifles that use dove tail. Is there a way to convert with different rings perhaps so I can mount this scope.? Thank you |
Answer: | With lens covers on the scope is 16 3/8 inches long. |
Question: | What's the battery size? My instructions or anything does not have anything information on what battery to use |
Answer: | I have used this on 50 and 100 yard paper targets at shooting range. I wear corrective glasses. The vertical cross hair is fuzzy with glasses, looks normal with out glasses. I have this same scope in a 9 power and 12 power. 9 power is just flawless, 12 power has same fuzzy issue but not so bad that I can not keep my glasses on. If I did it again I would not go above the 12 power. By the way, I use the 12 power on a bolt action 22 mag rifle, Marline. At 100 yards, from a bench rest, 1-1/2 groups all day long, and that is on a windy day. I do use a riser with it. You can find them on amazon starting around $15-20, depending on your mount and the rise you want. Shooting at the 300 yard range I would suggest a 5/8 to 7/8 inch riser. Your neck will thank you. Happy shooting. Please comment if this post was helpful to you. |
Question: | Do the mounts come mounted the scope already |
Answer: | It comes with Weaver/Picatinny style mounts, but an inexpensive adapter can be purchased for the 11 mm dovetails allowing you to use the supplied mounts. Another option is to purchase 11 mm mounts to fit the scope. |
Question: | Where was it made |
Answer: | I own 9 different UTG scopes. I have had one problem with one that I mounted on a Savage axis II. The light for the reticle stopped working. Holds zero even after several hundred rounds. This 30-06 kicks a lot harder than my 12 gauge even with slugs. It is the hardest kicking 06 I’ve ever shot. I never took it off to return it as I don’t use the light. I have them mounted on my 308, several .243s, 300 blackout, and of course 5.56 with no problems. |
