14 best scope with bdc reticles
A BDC (Bullet Drop Compensator) reticle is a type of reticle commonly found in gun scopes used for shooting and hunting. It is designed to help shooters compensate for bullet drop at different distances without needing to make adjustments to the scope's elevation turret. Here are some key points about BDC reticles:
Purpose: BDC reticles are primarily used to estimate and compensate for the drop of a bullet over various distances. When shooting at targets at different ranges, the bullet's trajectory naturally drops due to gravity. A BDC reticle provides aiming points or marks at specific distances to assist the shooter in making accurate shots without manually adjusting the elevation turret.
Aiming Points: BDC reticles typically feature multiple aiming points or hash marks below the central crosshair. Each of these marks corresponds to a predetermined distance, often in yards or meters. Shooters can use these marks to hold over or under the target, depending on the distance, rather than adjusting the scope's elevation.
Caliber and Ballistics: BDC reticles are calibrated for specific bullet types, weights, and ballistics. It's essential to match the reticle to the ammunition you are using, as different cartridges will have varying trajectories. Using the wrong BDC reticle with your ammunition can result in inaccurate shots.
Zeroing: To use a BDC reticle effectively, shooters typically need to "zero" the rifle at a specific distance, often referred to as the "zero range." This is the distance at which the bullet's point of impact matches the central crosshair when the scope is correctly adjusted. The BDC marks are then calibrated around this zero point.
Limitations: BDC reticles provide a convenient way to estimate bullet drop, but they are not as precise as dialing the elevation turret for each shot. They are most effective at medium to long-range shooting, where consistent ballistic data can be applied. At very long ranges, factors like wind, temperature, and altitude can still affect accuracy.
Practice: Using a BDC reticle effectively requires practice and familiarity with the specific reticle design. Shooters should spend time at the range to confirm the reticle's accuracy with their ammunition and understand how it performs at various distances.
In summary, BDC reticles are a valuable tool for shooters and hunters looking to make accurate shots at different distances without constantly adjusting their scope's elevation. However, it's crucial to match the reticle to the ballistics of your ammunition and to practice to become proficient in its use.

User questions & answers
Question: | Will low height rings fit this scope & a remington |
Answer: | Yes this will fit with a low height rings on a Remington 700! I have one mounted on a Remington 700 bdl |
Question: | Is it good in dark areas |
Answer: | Me owning both a 44mm and a 50mm I’d say if you want one for lower light go 50mm. I’ve heard that it doesn’t matter but like I said i have both.. the 50mm you can see earlier in the morning and later into the night.. only down side is if your facing a sun rise or a sun down the 50mm absorbs to much light causing a glare.. you can buy a screw in extender that takes care of that tho.. hope That helped |
Question: | will this scope hold up to the pounding of the AK47 recoil |
Answer: | This is an amazing scope. Like the others have said handling a 416 rigby and a 338 win mag itll hold up to the 7.62x39 for sure. I know ur thinking probably about the continual jarring of a semi automatic but this scope holds up just fine. Best thing is u cant go wrong with vortexes warranty. I have two a 2-7x32 on my 375 HH, and a 3-9x40 on my .30.06, and only had one issue on the 3-9x40 from a shooting trip after i got it home i guess it got knocked around too hard and there was like dirt inside of the glass. I called vortex they sent me a sgipping label and said well fix it ir replace it and in a week or two i got my scope back good as new. I love vortex the scopes are great, and the customer service cant be beat. |
Question: | Does this scope come with flip up scope covers? If not, any recommendations |
Answer: | The scope does not come with flip up scope covers. I purchased Butler Creek ones and they work great. For the eye piece go with size 14-15-16 (their sizing is weird) and for the objective go with 13-15. They work great and I have no complaints. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this scope brand new in box not a refurbished with full warranty |
Answer: | It came to me in a brand new box. It also had a warranty card. |
Question: | Does it come with sunshade |
Answer: | Hi, Yes it comes with a sunshade. What an awesome scope it turned out to be. |
Question: | What height rings do you need - medium or high |
Answer: | It ultimately depends on what you're mounting it to, but typically you will need high rings for the 50mm objective on a 1" tube. I put mine on a rimfire with an 11mm to pictinny adaptor rail. That raised it up enough for me to get by with medium rings, but otherwise I'd need high. |
Question: | I ordered medium rings..will they work with this optic |
Answer: | Hi! It all depends on the rifle you own. As you know the lower the scope the better it is. The 50 mm front of the scope has to clear the rifle. I mounted this scope on my Ruger 10-22 with the med ring and it is OK . I also brought the high rings just in case I switch rifle so day. How this answer you looking for |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this scope really weight 2.6 pounds |
Answer: | I didn't really weight it as itself but it didn't add much weight to my gun. My Remington 700 with heavy barrel was heavy already. |
Question: | Would this work on a ruger 308 precision rifle? Model |
Answer: | I dont see why not. You will need high rise scope mounts though. I have it on a Ruger American 30.06. |
Question: | Does this have an illuminated reticle |
Answer: | It has a illuminated center dot that lights up red. Very nice to have. I've had scopes that had the whole reticle light up and it was way too much goin on in the scope and it would drain the battery way too fast. The center dot is simple effective and great on the battery. Plus with the crosshairs you won't even need the dot about 90% of the time. |
Question: | How is the glass? Sight clarity? Especially when you put it at |
Answer: | Excellent for the price. Not going to compare to my Razor HD in glass quality or features, but $200 vs $2500, it's unbeatable value and warranty. I have at least 7 crossfires of different sizes on calibers from 22 to 30 cal. Clarity is good enough to watch the bullet trace from a 22lr hit paper at 100 yards at 24x and see all of the bullet holes. Clarity further out is still quite good as well. I highly recommend them. |

Question: | Best scope ring height for bolt action use |
Answer: | My custom 700 Rem,.Bolt Gun. 308 Palma chambered @155 grains. General Plasterized Hart barreled Beast uses a 20 moa Leupold mount .... With ....Medium Height... vortex rings...... For my Hog Killin 56mm. Vortex |
Question: | Is the scope specifically made for a certain caliber |
Answer: | No, it’s either Designed to work with Minutes of angle or mill radians the multiplayer for minutes of angle aka MOA is 1.047 or roughly 1 inch at 100 yds and with the 1/4 MOA turrets that’s roughly 1/4” at 100 yds both in elevation (up and down) and Windage (left to right) milliradian aka MRAD one milliradian is 3.6” at one hundred yards and the value of each click is 1/10th of a mil so each 1/10th is .36 of one inch for people new to scopes the MOA is usually easier to use however both measurements are angular so at 200 yds one MRAD is 7.2” and 1 MOA IS 2.094” to answer you’re question further the answer is no they are not Bullet drop compensation Reticles aka BDC but there is great information out there on how to better use you’re Reticle for range finding and instead of adjusting the turrets instead use the reticle like a BDC and use hold over values |
Question: | Does anyone have any data to support using this on a win 300 mag platform? curious if it can handle the recoil forces. thanks |
Answer: | I use Talley mounts and have it on a Remington Sendero in 300 win mag continues to hold zero after 500 rounds |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can anyone speak to this scopes low light performance |
Answer: | 30 mm scope rings, definitely "High" mount separate rings or a Cantilevered AR mount with 1/4" - 1/2" risers below the AR mount. |
Question: | does this have a mil dot reticle |
Answer: | Not sure, I do not prefer Butler Creek scope covers, the scope comes with Vortex cover/caps, if I were to go with an alternative to the factory covers I would go with one of the bikini style that cover the entire scope, several manufacturers make them. |
Question: | How far can you shoot with this |
Answer: | That would depend on the setting. The optics on the scope are crystal clear but I don't see that it gathers more light than cheaper scopes. You get what you pay for. If you want world class or if you're only getting 1 scope to last for years and years then go buy a Leupold. If you're easy to please, get the vortex. |
Question: | what size flip cap covers fit on here |
Answer: | I don't know if this will work on your gun or not. I had a hard time making it work on my rifle, a .300 win Mag., but I did get it to work and the scope worked most excellent. I would recommend that you use a pictinney rail base with at least 15 MOA rise. I would also recommend that you go with the highest Vortex rings you can fine. |
Product features
Product Overview
Specifically designed for discriminating hunters and shooters, the Diamondback Tactical series of Riflescopes offer the highest levels of performance and reliability. With generous long eye relief, rugged construction and precise, smooth controls, the Diamondback Tactical Riflescopes are ready for any situation.
Exposed tactical turrets built for dialing elevation and windage allow quick and precise bullet drop and wind drift compensation at extended ranges. When we say precise-we mean it. These turrets track better than any Bloodhound and reliably return to zero every time. A zero-reset feature lets you re-index the zero reference marks on both turrets after sight in, while fiber optic rotation indicators integrated into the turrets provide a visual cue of your turret’s position.
Dual use for Shooting Tactical/Hunting.
VMR-1 MOA Reticle
- Designed to maximize long distance shooting and ranging abilities, the VMR-1 MOA reticle can be used to effectively determine ranges, holdovers, windage corrections and moving target leads.
- Second focal plane (SFP) reticles are located near the scope’s eyepiece behind the image erecting and magnifying lenses. This style of reticle does not visually change in size when you change the magnification. The advantage of an SFP reticle is that it always maintains the same appearance. Listed reticle subtensions used for estimating range, holdover, and wind drift correction are only accurate at one particular magnification.
Optical & Internal
XD Lens Elements: Extra-low dispersion (XD) glass increases resolution and color fidelity, resulting in crisp, sharp images.
XR Fully Multi-Coated: Proprietary coatings increase light transmission with multiple anti-reflective coatings on all air-to-glass surfaces.
Precision-Glide Erector System: Uses premium components in the zoom lens mechanism to ensure smooth magnification changes under the harshest conditions.
Convenience
Fast Focus Eyepiece: Allows quick and easy reticle focusing.
Fiber Optic Radius Bar: The fiber optic Radius Bar visually assists tracking turret rotations.
Magnification Rib: The raised rib on the magnification ring facilitates fast magnification changes in the heat of action.
Construction
Aircraft-Grade Aluminum: Constructed from a solid block of aircraft-grade aluminum for strength and rigidity.
Hard Anodized Finish: Highly durable low-glare matte finish helps camouflage the shooter's position.
Exposed Tactical Turrets: The Diamondback Tactical scopes feature tactical windage and elevation turrets with Zero Reset making adjustments back to zero easy and quick.
Product description
The CMR-AK762 is identical in every way to the CMR14X24, except for the reticle, which has been designed around the ballistics of the 7.62x39mm cartridge. The reticle still incorporates the illuminated center circle and dot, plus ranging brackets for getting on target quickly and knowing the range when a shot or shots must be taken immediately. For longer ranges with the 7.62x39mm round, the reticle features bullet drop compensating hold over lines to 900 meters. The same hold over lines can be used to 550 meters for target work with rifles in.300 BLK or.300 Whisper. At 4x the reticle also includes a feature for estimating range to 1,000 yards. This version of the CMR scope is built with a rigid 30mm aluminum tube, and the variable magnification ring can be taken from 1x to 4x, or back, with the flick of the shooter's thumb. Like the original CMR, the 1x setting gives the shooter true 1x magnification. Brightness of the illuminated center reticle can be adjusted as needed thanks to an 11-setting rheostat. Another great feature of this scope is the Hi-Lux Optics "Zero Locking System", which allows windage and elevation alignments to be locked in place, with just enough minor adjustment for adapting the setting to shooting conditions or range - then being able to precisely return to the original settings.

User questions & answers
Question: | what size scope rings are required |
Answer: | Should be 30 and they come with rings. |
Question: | If i don't put any batteries in will the reticule still appear |
Answer: | Yes, without batteries or if batteries go dead the reticle is etched so it will still appear in black. If I remember correctly batteries are also included with the scope. |
Question: | Will this scope work for an AK74/ 545X |
Answer: | I sold my original CMR 1-4X24 to a friend who offered me a deal that was twice what it was worth and more, then promptly purchased almost the exact same scope except for the reticle was designed more for than 7.62, whereas my primary rifle is a 6.5 Grendel, and I thought I couldn't do much better than the new CMR 762! Still love VERY much the whole idea of the CMR 1-4X24, and LOVE the specific ballistics reticles! Very happy with it on a 6.5mm Grendel, I think you'll be pleased as well. |
Question: | i was seeing these at the gunshoe reputable dealer fir 150$ is that a different model i xant find it online looking for info on hi lux |
Answer: | Those are either fakes or different models. The CMR 1-4X24 doesn't sell for less than $330. Retail is $365.00. The Hi-Lux CMR scopes are the best $300 scopes on the market. Let me know if you need any help. Have a great day! |
