Answer:	I guess it is a matter of personal taste. Brass will not scratch steel, so like plastic, you can use it without worry. I personally like brass tips. Every plastic tip I have used in the last 60 some years of shooting and cleaning weapons has ultimately failed. It bends a little bit every time, and then fails at the bend point.

Answer:	The .45 caliber brush is designed to tightly fit the .45 caliber bore. An additional .050 of an inch in bore diameter will produce a much more loose fit when using the brush designed for the .45. In short, you can use it but you will not get a good scrubbing effect. The kit is very nice. Add a .50 caliber bronze brush and go to town. After all, you are only talking about a few extra bucks. Just make sure the .500 brush has the same thread pattern as the kit's rod.
