13 best ground blinds
Ground blinds are outdoor equipment commonly used by hunters to conceal themselves from their prey while hunting. These blinds are particularly popular among hunters pursuing game such as deer, turkeys, and waterfowl. Here are some key points about ground blinds:
Purpose: Ground blinds are designed to provide hunters with cover and concealment. They are used to hide the hunter's presence, allowing them to observe and target game animals without being easily detected.
Construction: Ground blinds are typically constructed from materials that provide camouflage and protection from the elements. Common materials include fabric or camo-patterned materials stretched over a frame. Some ground blinds also have a solid, waterproof floor to keep the hunter dry.
Types: There are various types of ground blinds, including pop-up blinds, hub-style blinds, and natural material blinds. Pop-up blinds are easy to set up and collapse quickly, making them a popular choice for many hunters. Hub-style blinds are more rigid and spacious, offering more room for multiple hunters and gear. Natural material blinds are constructed on-site using local vegetation to blend in with the environment.
Camouflage: Ground blinds often feature camouflage patterns to blend into the natural surroundings. These patterns can mimic the colors and textures of the surrounding terrain, helping hunters remain hidden from game animals.
Windows and Shoot-Through Mesh: Most ground blinds have windows that can be opened or closed to provide visibility and shooting opportunities. Some blinds also have shoot-through mesh windows, which allow hunters to shoot arrows or bullets through the mesh without being seen.
Setup and Portability: Ground blinds are designed for easy setup and portability. They often come with carrying cases or backpack straps for convenient transport to hunting locations.
Hunting Accessories: Hunters often use ground blinds in combination with other hunting accessories, such as decoys and calls, to attract game animals within range. Ground blinds can provide a stable shooting platform for archery or firearm hunting.
Safety: While ground blinds offer concealment, hunters must also prioritize safety. It's essential to be aware of other hunters in the area and to clearly mark the location of your ground blind to avoid accidents.
Hunting Regulations: Hunters should be familiar with local hunting regulations, including rules and guidelines related to the use of ground blinds. Some areas may have restrictions on the size and placement of blinds.
Seasonal Use: Ground blinds are commonly used during various hunting seasons, including deer, turkey, and waterfowl hunting. They provide an advantage by allowing hunters to remain concealed and patient while waiting for game animals to approach.
In summary, ground blinds are valuable tools for hunters, providing concealment and cover while allowing for effective hunting strategies. They come in various styles and are designed to blend into the natural environment, making them an essential part of many hunting setups. Hunters should always prioritize safety and follow local hunting regulations when using ground blinds.

Question: | Can I use this for bird photography |
Answer: | of course. I've had small birds land on the window while hunting. I often put the binos on birds while sitting. |
Question: | What are the lengths of the interior poles |
Answer: | There are no interior poles |
Question: | Can i shoot comfortably out of this with my 60" recurve bow or will it be cutting it close |
Answer: | Don't listen to the others. I shoot a 66" bow and I rotate the bow so the blind can accomodate it's length. I have never shot this way nor have I ever shot from a seated position. My very first shot from the blind with my 66" incher I hit the bulls-eye from 20 yds..not a long shot...tis true...but I don't shoot much beyond 20 yds anyway. Later I found on youtube that some recommend rotating the bow for improved aim and I have found that to be true..at least for ME. I say go for it! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can someone tell me actual floor dimensions of this blind? I'm going to build an elevated platform. Is it really 70"x70" as advertised |
Answer: | doesn't have a floor - the dimensions are where the 4 corner tie downs would be placed and are accurate. There is a bottom-to-top zipper on the back seam for entry which probably would need to be accounted for. since its a pop-open design, i'd worry about it up too high without some rigid safety structure. be safe! |
Question: | Does it have a back pack to carry it and how heavy is it |
Answer: | has a carry bag, plus 22 pounds |
Question: | I hunt in tall trees I can use it for this or only for horizontal shots |
Answer: | I am sorry, but, I don't know that I understand your question. This is a ground blind and it is a portable blind. This is not meant to be left out in the elements as it may be damaged as well as it would be subject to damage by animals. If you are looking for a blind that is more permanent and can be left out all season, you may want to take a look at www.huntriversedge.com for permanent blinds manufactured by Ardisam, the same manufacturer for the Barronett Blinds. |
Question: | Is this water/rain/snow proof |
Answer: | As with so many things in life... It depends. This winter will be the first time I have my Big Cat out, however, I also own a Barronett Grounder 350, which is basically the same thing with some small differences in window material and placement. The top and sides will keep out rain pretty well if you are sitting inside. There may be some leaks, but nothing that makes me question the quality. There are several commercial and homemade products to help "waterproof" tents and blinds. With their application to the blind I'm sure you could completely waterproof it, though I don't find the need. The material for the roof seems to be the same type and thickness as my grounder 350, and the hub structure is the same. Last winter I had to leave my blind out and we had substantial snow. Where another member of our hunting camp had his blind ruined, the grounder 350 was fine, even though the top collapsed in. Keep in mind that with snow/ice the top will collapse in and you need to be careful removing it if it is frozen. The only damage my grounder sustained was from some thorn bushes and shrubs after a pretty bad wind storm caused it to un-stake and move about during spring turkey. You will get some frosting inside of the blind, more so if you leave only the mesh closed and windows open. This leads to a condensation effect where you may get some water dripping on you as the material heats up with the sun. Its a solid blind and the largest I found for hunts with multiple people in the blind and/or camera equipment. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Country of origin |
Answer: | Made in China |
Question: | can i set this up by myself |
Answer: | Yes you can. Although it is little easier with two people or if you’re simply taller in stature. My advise is if by yourself, once you have section pulled out, stake it down and move to the next section and so on. Once the sides are done, I pushed the tip from inside the blind...great blind though! |
Question: | Can i shoot threw the mesh with my compound bow |
Answer: | Yes. You can replace if too worn. Dont shoot a riffle through it tough . It will burn the mesh. |
Question: | how high off the ground is the center gun hold? and is the screen removable were the gun hole is please help |
Answer: | Not sure on night but the screen windows are Velcro and are removable |
