11 best tactical folding
Tactical folding knives, also known as tactical folders or folding tactical knives, are versatile cutting tools designed for a wide range of outdoor and tactical activities, including hunting, fishing, camping, and self-defense. These knives are prized for their portability, ease of carry, and quick deployment, making them a popular choice among outdoor enthusiasts and professionals.
Key features and characteristics of tactical folding knives include:
Folding Design: Tactical folding knives have a hinged design that allows the blade to fold into the handle, making them compact and easy to carry in pockets or on belts. This folding mechanism enhances safety during storage and transport.
Locking Mechanisms: To ensure safe operation, these knives typically include locking mechanisms that secure the blade in the open position, preventing accidental closure during use.
Blade Materials: Tactical folding knives often feature high-quality blade materials such as stainless steel, carbon steel, or specialty alloys. These materials provide excellent edge retention, corrosion resistance, and durability.
Blade Styles: These knives come in various blade styles, including drop-point, tanto, serrated, and plain edge. The choice of blade style depends on the intended use, with some styles being more suitable for cutting, slicing, or piercing tasks.
One-Handed Opening: Many tactical folders are designed for quick, one-handed blade deployment, which is essential for self-defense or emergency situations. This feature often includes thumb studs, flipper tabs, or assisted opening mechanisms.
Handle Materials: Handles of tactical folding knives are constructed from materials like G-10, aluminum, titanium, or polymer. These materials offer a balance of strength, lightweight design, and grip comfort.
Grip Textures: Handles may feature textured surfaces or ergonomic designs to ensure a secure grip, even in wet or slippery conditions.
Clip Attachments: Most tactical folders have pocket clips that allow for convenient and discreet carry, making them readily accessible for everyday use.
Tactical Features: Some tactical folding knives include additional features such as glass breakers, seatbelt cutters, or integrated tools for versatility in emergency situations.
Brand Variety: Many reputable knife manufacturers produce tactical folding knives, including Benchmade, Gerber, Spyderco, Kershaw, and CRKT, among others. Each brand may offer unique designs and features.
Legal Considerations: It's important to be aware of local laws and regulations regarding the carry and use of folding knives, as they can vary by jurisdiction.
Tactical folding knives are valuable tools for individuals who require a versatile and easily carried cutting instrument for a wide range of tasks. When choosing a tactical folder, consider factors such as blade style, handle material, locking mechanism, and intended use to ensure that you select a knife that best suits your needs. Proper maintenance and responsible use are essential to ensure the longevity and effectiveness of these knives.

User questions & answers
Question: | what size are the star screws holding the belt clip on |
Answer: | If you can afford a carving jack why would you even consider buying this ??? don't get me wrong it's a good little knife for the money but it's bulky and not ergonomic at all your hand will hurt after a wile and the blades don't lock like the carving jack . You'll have to sharpen it to your liking ,but I rather loose a $ 25 knife in the woods than a $140 any day of the week. over all it's not a bad little knife once is sharpened |
Question: | What is the handle made of |
Answer: | We do not carry a left handed model. |
Question: | I bought this knife and opened it fine. Now I can't close it! Can someone please help |
Answer: | This is sad. I am 63 years old and remember when "Schrade" and "Uncle Henry" were brand names of knives you were PROUD to own and showed off to all your friends. Fortunately I do still have one old 'Uncle Henry" old enough to be of good quality. I recall sharpening a knife (Uncle Henry) for our Sgt and when he cut himself with it the doctor (took 12 stitches inside & out to sew him up) said it looked like he had been cut with a scalpel. I bet you couldn't get one of these new knives that sharp. |
Question: | Can you clean a deer with it |
Answer: | To all those complaining about the blades not locking, a blade lock was developed to keep a knife from closing when it is used to stab, like a folding skinner going through thick hide at the start of a cut (which is the wrong way to start that cut, too, by the way). If you are using this tool in any way that causes the blades to close on your fingers, you don't know how to use the tool, and you're looking for a hardware fix for a training deficiency. Stop blaming the tool and fix your ignorance. Nobody is born knowing how to use a carving knife, or any other type of knife, any more than they're born knowing how to use a hammer, saw, drill, gun, stove, oven, or jackhammer, and you shouldn't expect to expertly use a tool until you've spent some time learning how to. |

Question: | Can you tell me why you have 6 photos of the left side, none of the right |
Answer: | A lot. The RAT although a great knife was designed 16 years ago. In its day it was and still is an excellent option. This is just so much more in terms of refinement and attention to detail. In comparison if the Harnds was a 9, the RAT would be a 6. |
Question: | Dose it fly |
Answer: | I believe it will |
Question: | Manufacturer picture appears thumbstud use is both right and/or left handed. Is that true |
Answer: | I am very pleased with my chime candle holder..... It works fine I never have any mess on my altar....and it is very easy to clean. |
Question: | Is there a safety lock so it doesnt open in your pocket |
Answer: | This is very, very, very small. Like doll house small. If you are burning incense, I would think the lid being on it wouldn't get enuf oxygen to keep burning. The person I gifted this absolutely loved it. I thought it would've been bigger. |

Question: | Is this knife spring assisted |
Answer: | No, it's not spring assisted. |
Question: | Is it spring assisted |
Answer: | Thank you for your question. It is not spring assisted. A little opening of the blade and a flick of the writs and it opens nicely. And yet it feels firm and solid. I have had this knife for about a year and have demonstrated it to others and has always performed as well as it looks. |
Question: | is it razor sharp |
Answer: | No. It is not razor sharp, but you can probably get it there by honing it properly. It's sharp enough to take on a hunting trip, or to whittle wood, or cut twine. |
Question: | Where is this knife made |
Answer: | The knife was manufactured by Taylor Brands LLC, and made in China. Although it is really strong and can take a lot of abuse. |

Product description
We have produced Kit Carson's popular M16 line in many variations over the past decade. Our glass filled nylon version has built the largest user base of all. These knives are built for function, not fad, and they are exceptional values.
Our new M16 ZLEK line uses our very successful InterFrame construction, with tough, textured glass filled nylon scales over a 420J2 stainless steel liner InterFrame and solid glass filled nylon back spacers. We assemble the handle with superior offset Torx fasteners.
For professional use, we've added a seat belt cutter to the Carson Flipper, and a tungsten carbide window breaker at the butt. Automobile side windows shatter with one quick whack from the butt of the knife.
All components receive a tough tactical black coating. The Flipper can be pressed for fast one-hand opening, and creates a blade guard when open. We use our premium AUS 8 high-carbon stainless steel for the blades, which have Combined Razor-Sharp and Triple-Point Serrated edges to easily cut rope, cord, canvas, and vegetation.
It also features our automated liner safety. Automated liner safety is the locking liner safety innovation taken to the next level. The automated liner safety sets a pin between the locking liner and the frame. This pin acts as an additional layer of safety, so the locking liner is less likely to disengage during use.
To close the knife, pull the red buttoned safety lever back, slide the locking liner over, and fold the blade into the closed position. Want one of the most secure safety systems on the market? The choice is automatic.
M16-13ZLEK. This mid-size M16 with spear point blade is a perennial favorite, with all the trademark Kit Carson features. A black stainless steel two position pocket/gear clip is included.
Full professional features. Non-reflective black finish. Exceptional affordability. Kit Carson rides again.

User questions & answers
Question: | Whats the blade length |
Answer: | It is a motor that has an oil reservoir. We add oil once a year if needed, 3 in 1 oil is fine if you can't find fan oil. It makes the fan run quietly and efficiently, The original that we have has been going perfectly for over 25 years. Well worth the price. We have one in each bedroom, the living room and dining. Love how quietly they are. |
Question: | Does anyone know if the glass breaker point can be removed |
Answer: | I spoke with Hunter Fans, they said that your ceiling joist should be strong enough to hold the fan. |
Question: | does it have any kind of assisted opening |
Answer: | I have never tried that but would think that it's not possible. Those fans are perfectly balanced with the weight of the motor. I would assume without the balance pattern of the blades, it would cause the unit to wobble and not operate correctly. If you have lost a fan blade, you can order replacement parts. These fans last a lifetime. Had them for over 35 years and only had 1 problem. |
Question: | Can the belt clip be switched to the other side for left handed users |
Answer: | https://www.hunterfan.com/parts-manuals Order them direct from Hunter. |

The Knife That Changed Everything
Few at CRKT still remember the day that Kit Carson revealed his original M16 design. Those that do knew right away that it was something special.
The anatomy of the M16 and the Carson Flipper are both now mainstays of the M16 design. The Carson Flipper ultimately earned him a spot in the Blade Magazine Cutlery Hall of Fame. In the end, though, Kit’s memory is eternalized in his dedication to his craft, service to our country, and the number of lives he impacted along the way.
Iconic Handle Design
Universally recognizable, the bored holes in the face of each M16 handle sets it apart from other knifes in the industry. The shapely ergonomic design makes for a bomber grip amid rain, grit, and grime.
Carson Flipper Opening
True to its tactical nature, the Carson Flipper balances performance and safety. Light pressure rapidly deploys the blade. Once open, the flipper becomes a blade guard to protect digits in hard-use situations.
Veff Serrations
Some hone edges. Others, like “Edgeologist” Tom Veff, reinvent them. These patented Veff Serrations makes for superior cutting of cordage, rope, and fibrous materials.
Automated Liner Safety
When open, this next-level safety innovation sets a pin between the liner and the frame to keep it super secure while it’s in use. Closing is just as simple—move the red pin aside and push back the liner as usual.

User questions & answers
Question: | can the slot be used as a bottle opener |
Answer: | The slot is designed to cut rip cord and set belts. But who knows I have never tried bottle opener. Opening maybe to narrow. |
Question: | Is it spring assisted |
Answer: | No, the SOG "Escape" is not spring assisted. And, as in any other stout combat knife, there is a noticeable amount of force required to open the blade. My one critique concerning this folder, is that the Teflon coating on the scales is too slippery for adequate grip during blade deployment. That being said, I was so impressed with is knife that I took the time to re-contoured the locking ramp portion of the blade for easier deployment. I would like to see this fine knife reconfigured with G10 scales to alleviate the grip issue. |
Question: | Is there a special method to fold the knife? I took this knife straight out of the packaging and it seems stuck in the open position |
Answer: | See the previous answers. FYI. I purchased this knife for my wife. She doesn't have the thumb strength to open the blade with one hand using the thumb stud (it is a challenge for me as well) nor the thumb strength to press down on the lockback with enough pressure to close the blade. |
Question: | how is the knife used to break a window and if the blade is used to break a window will it damage the blade |
Answer: | For anyone else wondering the safest way to use any knife to break a window is to you the glass breaker in the opposite end of the knife smash through the corner of the window so that way you don’t risk glass flying into whoever you’re rescuing once you’ve smashed through the glass use the back of the blade itself to clear away and extra pieces still attached so you can safely extract the victim |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the lockup like? Is it good. Is it ball bearing or nylon washer pivot |
Answer: | Great lockup and washers! |
Question: | Hi, was wondering if you will be making this folder with other choices to select like a digital camo design or satin finish, etc |
Answer: | I'm glad to answer your question. This tactical hunting knife has variants. Many people like the traditional black, camouflage seldom available, so no variants are available for sale on Amazon. I hope I can help you. |
Question: | Would you be able to take the breaker from this one and install it on the actual Medford scout liner lock without the breaker |
Answer: | It appears that the glass breaker can be removed by taking the knife apart. I can not say whether it would fit the Medford as I do not have one to compare the size and screw holes to. |
Question: | Why is thumb stud so small |
Answer: | The thumb stud is too large to squeeze the finger position, resulting in poor opening. The current size is standard in our factory. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Dose this knife have a belt clip |
Answer: | Yes, it does. In my experience, it is very sturdy and well adjusted. Other knives I've owned have been difficult to clip or unclip because the clip pressure is too high. I have had this one for some time now and I think it has just the right amount of pressure to stay clipped, but not be difficult to attach or remove. I've never had to adjust it. |
Question: | what does it mean by batteries not included |
Answer: | I'm not sure why that's part of the technical description but no, this item does not require batteries. |
Question: | Any idea where the blade's metal comes from |
Answer: | The box says made in Taiwan and the blade has 4034 steel marked on it. 420 or 4034 stainless steels are the softest and least expensive. The presence of these steels usually means the knife is mass produced and imported from China. These steels are not brittle, but they do not stay sharp for long either. if you want a good edge try VG-10, it is stainless steel with a high percentage of vanadium content, which can hold an extremely sharp edge for a long time. 1095 carbon steel has a high degree of carbon in it for increased hardness; the legendary Ka-Bar fighting knives are made from this steel. H1 steel which is made with nitrogen instead of carbon, making it virtually rust proof. These knives are intended for extremely hard use by people doing stuff like salt-water sea diving. As with most things the better the material the higher the cost. |
Question: | Can parts |
Answer: | The only time it can parts, is when the parts cant. Or when the can can't parts, but the parts can. There are also times where you go to do the can parts, but then you cant parts. In all, the parts can can parts, but the can cant part cans. |

If you’re planning a big game hunt, a dangerous expedition, or an exciting adventure and want to carry a high-performance folding knife that won’t draw unwanted attention look no further than Andrew Demko’s AD-10. Resembling Andrew’s massive 4-Max, but reduced in size and weight, the AD-10 features an ultra wide ground blade that terminates in a sturdy (yet innocuous) drop point. Ground thin at the edge and honed to razor sharpness, the AD-10 delivers unprecedented cutting, shearing, and piercing power in a sub 4-inch blade but remains remarkably resistant to bending, breaking or chipping. The handle of the AD-10 is likewise strong and user friendly, with heat-treated, full-length aluminum liners, 3D machined G-10 scales, and oversized pins and bolts; it fits snugly and securely in the hand due to its precise contouring and integral finger guard. No folder would be complete without a reliable locking mechanism, so we have incorporated Andrew’s famous Tri-Ad® lock. It’s been proven over time to be unsurpassed in strength, shock resistance and durability, and offers unrivaled protection for your irreplaceable fingers. And, to assure lightning quick deployment and convenient carry, we have equipped the AD-10 with an ambidextrous thumb stud and dual pocket clips.
- RELIABLE AND USER-FRIENDLY: The most comfortable, user friendly, sub 4-inch tactical folder we’ve ever made! Modeled after Andrew Demko’s patented original, it offers ambidextrous operation and opens and closes with one hand
- HIGH PERFORMANCE BLADE: The saber ground spear point blade comes with a false edge and includes jimping on the spine to assure great piercing ability and edge control when precision cutting is required; Made with premium, ultra tough S35VN steel
- UNIQUE HYBRID HANDLE: The bottom portion of the handle has 3D-machined G-10 scales mated to steel liners, while the upper portion, called the "yoke", is crafted from a 3D-machined 6061 aluminum billet
- FAMOUS SCORPION LOCK: Designed by expert knife maker Andrew Demko, the Scorpion Lock is virtually immune from failure since it is held securely by constant pressure from the compression spring with support from the user's grip
- SMOOTH AND EASY TO DEPLOY: To open the knife, simply engage the thumb stud and watch the yoke rise up until it falls snugly into a deep notch cut in the blade's tang
User questions & answers
Question: | why does the blade length vary in this model slightly? are they just different generations? KnifeCenter |
