Answer:	I believe it is a vertical slide up - front swings up but closes quietly and without any springs. It has been several months since I've used the trap, but it works extremely well for my use (feral cats).

Answer:	Yes! As others have stated this trap does have 2 doors. The front door is the trapping door which has our ring-door design. The rear door is the release/bait door, which slides vertically up and down.

Answer:	The trigger releases the door that is pictured open. When the door drops two metal rings slide down on either side, latching the door shut. The rings have to be lifted up separately to open the door, so there's no way an animal can accidentally open it.

Question:	Does having the Rear sliding door weaken the integrity of this trap in any way? Or give an animal another way to escape? How secure is it
Answer:	Yes, you can. I use my brown "tru trap" regular trap, and it works fine. Yes, there is a tiny gap, but the frightened animal runs right into the trap 2 for transport. See, as soon you pull string and catch animal, run over quickly to throw a blanket over trap, that calms animal right away. Now, bring over the tru trap regular trap to line it up at the side door of this here drop-trap. No, it does not "lock" onto the drop trap, but you just linethem up together. Open door straight upwards on brown tru-trap ("trap 2") and then, open door of this drop trap, and now, PULL BLANKET OFF OF THIS DROP TRAP, ---this scares the animal, as he now feels exposed again, and you pull blanket over onto the trap 2, and animal will quickly run into trap 2 as it now looks like a dark place to hide again. CLOSE DOOR. Ta-da. done. I have even been able to then, take trap 2 over to a huge dog crate, and by hiding the large gap between cages with a blanket, the animal then ran into the large dog cage for a more comfortable shelter. PS---place cardboard on floor of trap 2, so their little feet don't fall through.

Answer:	The drop trap is 36x36x14. the 36x18x14 measurement is the collapsed size when storing. Remember that you also need the Tomahawk Transfer Cage for allowing the cat to move into the transfer cage for transport. After the cat is in the drop trap, the transfer cage is connected to the drop trap by aligning the two slide up doors and then securing the cage to the trap with the provided spring clips and raising the two adjoining doors.. The drop trap only is covered in a heavy blanket, the cat will move to the transfer cage to the light, the slide up door on the transfer cage is quickly lowered and secured, cover the cage to calm the cat. You can now move the cat to the spay/neuter clinic.

Answer:	All the recommendations for covering the cage to calm a frantic cat are not only correct but essential. A cat can injure itself by flailing around in a trap. They will definitely calm down after the trap is covered. The flap towards the back is to weigh it down. We fill a large container with water to use as a weight. Old kitty litter containers work perfectly. I have some fears that if you happen to get two cats in a trap one could actually lift the trap and the other get out. I bungee cord two bricks to the top of my trap and it works perfectly. Great trap! All of us involved with TNR love ours.

Answer:	I actually bought this trap as a gift to a volunteer TNR. Trap and Release. I was told by her that Fixnation only accepts this trap for their volunteers because they are the safest traps. However they stay and observe while using so that there is no potential injury to the cat. I’ve seen them using it and my trap worked immediately. So I would say that your trap is defective. Sorry for the long answer but i think it was necessary to hear.

Answer:	Fixation is a non--for -Profit Organization which recommended this trap for me. The following are their instructions for THIS trap: Trap door – The front of the trap where the cat will enter. Sliding door – The back of the trap, which you will use to release the cat the next day after surgery. Trip plate – This is located about three-fourths of the way to the back of the trap; this flips slightly up when the trap is open and set, and it is what the cat steps on to trigger the trap shut. Center handle – Located on the top of the trap; always carry the trap by the center handle, not by the ends, so you don’t get scratched or bitten. I love this trap! I recommend that you leave both ends open and place food in it for a couple of nights so the cats get use to it before you set it to trap them. I put just enough newspaper at the bottom to hide the wire floor. Do not put too much newspaper or you could compromise the trap from closing properly. Highly recommended by me.

Answer:	Animal Control Officer Deputy McCracken/ Jasper County Sheriff's Office, Any opening weakens the integrity of the trap but with the dog traps it is essential to have a rear opening to put food in, if not one must crawl into the trap to place the foods! Been doing this over 11 years and have only had an animal escape thru the rear twice! Perhaps a top loading area to place food? As for your cat traps, I have never had one escape thru the rear ! Having the rear opening in these traps makes it much easier to unload or transfer an animal to another area, especially one that is feral or unmanageable.

Answer:	To whom it may concern: I have a similar trap. I always place the bait beyond the trigger plate, which is the mechanism for releasing the trap door. I have no idea why anyone would put bait in front of the trigger plate. I have had trouble with raccoons reaching in and getting the bait from the closed end of the trap, so I built a wooden cover for that end (completely covers the top, back, sides for the rear 12 inches). Now the only way for an animal to get the bait is to enter the front and step on (or otherwise jostle the trigger plate. I do put a little bait at the front door :-) I've caught 4 racoons in the past 3 to 4 weeks. Full disclosure: I don't have this particular trap, but it is VERY similar.
