Answer:	The fabric is opaque, preventing most UV rays from coming through. However, the American Cancer Society recommends wearing clothing that covers your skin, and applying sun screen. Much of the UVB rays are absorbed by the ozone layer. Some UVA rays can get through clothing. This umbrella's fabric is dark (that's good) to prevent most UV rays from penetrating. Answer:	I have rheumatoid arthritis, and I can manage the weight and grip just fine. It is very well made. I never feel like it will turn inside out in a strong wind. It opens perfectly with the auto open button, and it manually closes easily. I would buy this over and over again if needed, but I have a feeling the construction is such that it will last a long time.
