14 best ball retrievers
Ball retrievers are essential accessories used in the sport of golf to recover golf balls that have ended up in hazards, such as water hazards, tall grass, or other challenging terrain on the golf course. These devices are designed to extend and retrieve golf balls safely and efficiently. Here's what you need to know about ball retrievers:
Purpose: Ball retrievers are primarily used to retrieve golf balls that are difficult to reach or retrieve manually, especially from water hazards. They allow golfers to recover their lost or wayward balls, saving time and money on buying replacement golf balls.
Design: Ball retrievers typically consist of a telescoping pole with a retriever head at the end. The head is usually equipped with a set of prongs or a scoop-like mechanism that can securely grasp the golf ball. The pole is extendable, allowing golfers to reach balls that may be submerged or located at a distance.
Construction: Ball retrievers are commonly constructed from lightweight materials such as aluminum or fiberglass. This lightweight design makes them easy to carry in a golf bag.
Length: Ball retrievers come in various lengths, typically ranging from around 6 feet (for shorter models) to over 15 feet (for longer models). The choice of length depends on the golfer's needs and the types of hazards commonly encountered on the course.
Retrieving Technique: To use a ball retriever, a golfer extends the pole to the desired length, positions the retriever head over the golf ball, and then gently captures the ball by closing the prongs or scoop. Once the ball is secure, the golfer can pull it back towards them.
Compact Storage: Most ball retrievers are designed to collapse or fold into a compact size, making them easy to store in a golf bag when not in use.
Versatility: Some ball retrievers come with features like a swiveling head, which can make it easier to retrieve balls from different angles or in challenging locations.
Golf Etiquette: Using a ball retriever is considered good golf etiquette, as it helps maintain the pace of play and reduces the need to enter hazards to retrieve balls. Golfers are generally encouraged to retrieve their own balls rather than taking balls that belong to other players.
Economical: Ball retrievers can help golfers save money by reducing the number of golf balls they lose during a round, especially when dealing with water hazards.
In summary, ball retrievers are handy golf accessories that enable golfers to recover golf balls from various hazards on the golf course, promoting the efficient and economical use of golf balls while adhering to golf etiquette. They come in various lengths and designs, providing golfers with options to suit their specific needs and preferences.

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the actual length fully extended? Have heard 10' is the actual size which is true |
Answer: | yes, this company describes it as 14'REACH, not 14' retriever, it includes your arm length and stretching out for a ball |
Question: | Has anyone reached out to I Gotcha for an answer regarding availability of the head replacement |
Answer: | The company sales replacement heads. Go to their website. |
Question: | Will the spring mechanism last |
Answer: | Yes the spring mechanism does last. I have a similar one of these (without the lock) and that has also served me well. Once you get to know the retriever it really works great on trapping the ball to retrieve it. It fits nicely in your side pocket and doesn't take up too much room. |
Question: | can you replace the circular top that has broken |
Answer: | My i gotcha fell out of the cart and the plastic retrieving end broke. I went back to the golf store where I had purchased it and they said I could not purchase a new retrieving end. They wanted me to buy the whole thing again. I went home and phoned i gotcha and they sold me the part I had broke. Good service. Good, easy to use retriever. Easy to extend handle - just pull. Ball is secure enough that you can swish it around in the water to rinse the ball when retrieved. |

Why you need to buy a golf ball retriever?
Even though golf enthusiasts insist that golf is a relaxing game, they also say how frustrating it is to chase stray golf balls around the course. Some golfers have to reduce their playing time or quit all together because of back and neck problems that make bending over too painful. You may be one of these people. Quality golf balls are not cheap; plus, a lot of people go through the extra expensive of having them monogrammed for easy identification on the course. Losing golf balls on the course is like throwing money away. Since some golf courses may charge by the hour, you can also waste valuable time searching for a lost golf ball. If you are tired of bending over and wearing your back out, it is high time to pick this item!
Automatic Locking Scoop
This trick exists on the automatic locking device of the scoop, which could block the ball Ingeniously and prevent it from being dropped when retrieving, extremely help you improve game efficiency!

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the actual length fully extended |
Answer: | As it describes, this golf ball retriever can reach up to 2m |
Question: | How does it work? Will the ball fall out of the spoon |
Answer: | Just aim the scoop part of the golf ball retriever and then cover the ball gently then turn over the retriever, there's an automatic locking device, so the ball won't fall out of it |
Question: | Not sure how to use!! Mine came with two cup with long screws on them??? I need this for picking up balls...help |
Answer: | The cup on the stick works well as a scoop, less well using the "finger" to pick up a ball. The thing with the screw is, I think, to put on the end of your putter to get the ball out of the hole. The biggest issue I have is that the sections rotate (especially the thin ones) and make it difficult to "scoop" the ball. Going to a locking version. |
Question: | Does this come with a total of 3 ball grabbers? thx |
Answer: | Hello, the package includes 1 golf ball retriever and 2 ball grabbers. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How are you supposed to use the black knob work and does it screw into the bottom |
Answer: | I only speak and read English, I dont understand your question |
Question: | My product was broken when received. How do I return |
Answer: | 18 |
Question: | How long is retriever fully extended? (Retriever only |
Answer: | Depends. If the ball being retrieved is even partially submerged in the mud it is not that easy to drop the spring-loaded ball-grabber over enough of the ball for the catch mechanism to securely grasp the ball. At least mot for me! |
Question: | This item broke (shaft) first use. very dissatisfied. caution, shaft very lightweight. how can i return |
Answer: | Depends on which one you get.The one I have extends 21 feet. Most of the time you will only need to extend a maximum of 10 feet as any further water will be too deep to see your ball,at least that is what I have found. Although there have been times where I have needed to extend further because of the creeks having steep banks. |
