I have used it as such, but we have few sand traps here, none deep sand, so I can only say it works. I'm not a pro, and am too old to do tournaments. Ideal is 54 to 56 degrees for a sand wedge, less than a lob, but more than a pitch. If not sure, you can likely eyeball it (and/or ask the pro shop) among a set on display or that you already have. Remember, different manufacturers use different standards, so that may not be precise. Hope that helps. |

| Answer: | fairway woods are longer and have less loft. Rescue clubs are shorter and have higher loft. Rescue clubs are also referred to Hybrid as well. The term "Rescue" is because the first "Hybrid" clubs were used for getting the ball out of thick rough more easily. Many people use "Hybrid" clubs in place of their fairway woods. The best way is to go to a golf store and ask to demo some Hybrids. |
