Do I believe that? No; it seems to be far less than 25, but they are certainly steel, because the corset doesn't bow or bend outward.

Answer:	Even though this question is older I’m still gonna give a response for future readers. I read ALL the questions and reviews before ordering a med and lg because so many people say to order a size smaller. I’m 4’11”, 125lbs with a 33 waist and the lg barely fit on the widest setting. Almost pulled my fingers from the nailbed trying to stretch the thing. I’m gonna send back the med and order an xl. I’ll keep the large until I try the xl. Considering I wear a med in JR. I’d say this runs small. Order your size and the next up to see what works best.
