| Answer: | Copying this from another reviewer because I had the same problem. You can shorten by moving the links through the top of the handle, untying the knot, removing the links you don't need, and then re-tying. It worked for me! We have an eight-year-old and six-year-old that are using the jump ropes. My husband pulled the end not out of the handle, untied it and removed the handle and many of the links, then replaced the handle and re-tied the knot at a shorter length.I just put the extra links in a container to save for later as they grow.
