Answer:	No they are not shorts. They are compression shorts (meant to be worn under you gym shorts). They hold the body parts firmly in place for the active guy (for any sports except swimming). Similar to a girl wearing a sports bra the compression shorts is for the guy to be worn under his shorts.

Answer:	Geez , I was a size 33 about 30 years ago! I get my son, Mediums. Under Armour makes a couple of different styles, lengths, and you may have to find the one you like.The compression shorts are great for working out , but i also have the shorter lengths to wear with pants.And....they are so well made, they last forever!
