9 best boat jack
A boat jack, often referred to as a boat trailer jack, is an essential tool for boaters, particularly those who transport their boats on trailers. It is used to lift and stabilize the front of the boat trailer, making it easier to hitch and unhitch the trailer, as well as perform maintenance tasks. Here are key aspects related to boat jacks:
Types of Boat Jacks:
- Swivel Jacks: These are commonly used and feature a swiveling mechanism that allows the jack to be easily rotated into a horizontal position during travel.
- Top-wind Jacks: These have a vertical winding mechanism at the top, allowing for easier cranking.
Capacity and Load Rating:
- Boat jacks come in various weight capacities. It's important to choose a jack that can safely support the weight of your boat and trailer.
Mounting Options:
- Weld-On Jacks: These are permanently welded to the trailer frame.
- Bolt-On Jacks: They are attached to the trailer frame using bolts, providing more flexibility in installation and replacement.
Material and Construction:
- Boat jacks are typically made of durable materials such as steel, which ensures strength and resistance to the elements.
Extension and Retraction:
- Jacks are designed to extend and retract to lift and lower the trailer. The mechanism can be either manual, where you use a handle to crank the jack, or powered, with electric or hydraulic systems.
Adjustable Height:
- Boat jacks often have an adjustable height feature, allowing users to set the optimal height for their specific trailer and boat combination.
Wheel or Foot Options:
- Some boat jacks come with wheels, making it easier to move the trailer when detached from the towing vehicle. Others have a footplate for added stability.
Corrosion Resistance:
- Given the exposure to water and other environmental elements, many boat jacks are designed to resist corrosion through coatings or materials that withstand saltwater conditions.
Dual-Purpose Jacks:
- Some boat jacks are designed to serve a dual purpose, functioning as both a tongue jack for the boat trailer and a swing-away bracket, which can be useful in certain storage or parking situations.
Maintenance:
- Regular maintenance, such as lubricating moving parts and checking for signs of wear or corrosion, is essential to ensure the continued functionality and longevity of the boat jack.
Safety Features:
- Some boat jacks come with safety features such as integrated locks to secure the trailer when parked.
A reliable boat jack is crucial for the safe and efficient handling of boat trailers. When selecting a boat jack, consider the size and weight of your boat, the construction of the trailer, and the specific features that will make the hitching and unhitching process as convenient as possible.

Question: | were are Fulton Product manufactured |
Answer: | Thankyou for your inquiry. It's a pleasure to assist you. Fulton is manufactured by Cequent Performance Products. The XP15 jack is made in China. |
Question: | what is the measurement of this jack from the bottom of the wheel to the bottom of the trailer when fully retracted |
Answer: | Not sure why this is a relevant question as this is a swing-away jack. When you hook up to your tow vehicle just swing it and stow it so it is parallel to the trailer. But having said that an eyeball measurement is close to 11 1/2 inches. |
Question: | I currently have a Fulton center bolt that needs replaced is the mounting standard |
Answer: | Yes,mine was a center bolt also , this one has brackets that mount to the trailer not a center bolt. I would say this,my handle already broke so I’m in need of a new one, I would spend a little more money to get a better one next time. |
Question: | Is this jack or the finish able to withstand salt water |
Answer: | Nothing can really withstand salt water completely, but if you spray it down after trailering it should last a long time. Proper maintenance is crucial |

User questions & answers
Question: | when turning the trailer, does the wheel and yoke pivot independently of the shaft or does it and the shaft pivot as a unit |
Answer: | This is the same as any swivel caster that you would find on a piece of furniture. Only the wheel and its housing turns. The only movement that the shaft does is up and down. |
Question: | Where is this made |
Answer: | I don't know. Their website is a bit vague on where they are located, but it appears to be in the US.I can tell you the jack is incredibly well made. I bought mine last August and have enjoyed it tremendously. I used to use a trailer dolly to move my 4 x 8 open trailer around until I got the Fulton jack. Now I just easily roll it around with the attached jack.I had installed the jack too close to my bumper and it contacted it during a turn, knocking off the black plastic cap on the top of the tube. Without it, rainwater would get into the gear area. So I called Fulton and told them what I had done (making sure they knew it was my fault) and they apologized for the problem and sent me 2 replacement caps for FREE. Talk about great customer support! So, where is it made? Don't really know. Is it WELL made? Absolutely! After of almost a year of use it still works flawlessly. |
Question: | how much lift from bottom of tire to middle of frame bracket |
Answer: | Min 12" Max 22" |
Question: | is jack easy to crank up and down |
Answer: | Yes, I have the jack on my utility trailer. It is easy to crank. It cranks up and down slowly but surely. |
