Answer:	Yes, there is a stopper that screws in to the thermos. It ensures contents stay hot (or cold). Must have been left out of your order.

Answer:	The thermos is great keeps everything hot for about 14 hr, I have not used it for anything cold but after 14 hr my coffee was as hot as when I filled it

Answer:	I have this same style CONTIGO (older model 3-years old at least) it is now slightly dented, and well loved, I take it everywhere, it keeps my ICE water cold for a 24 hours or more at indoor room temp, outside summer hiking, camping (atleast) 14 hours cold with ice. I did know these are not supposed to be washed in dishwasher, I have been washing mine in the dishwasher since first purchased and have, luckily, not had any changes in how well it keeps cool. I LOVE MY BOTTLE.
