The case that you see is a black box with an acrylic shield which slides in from the top, leaving a small air / dust gap that may degrade / discolor your material (?). I am not sure if you are looking for something a bit more airtight. Regarding the space inside, it's fairly voluminous. I did not see the dimensions of your quilt. Plus, I would have to measure the jersey case to give you an indication of fit.

Answer:	Not too heavy. Can't tell you exact amount pf weight, but we hung it without the use of 'molly bolts' to anchor it. I'm actually very please with this frame. I mounted my daughters nurse uniform for her graduation, proud mom and happy customer.
