Yes-They are durable. In fact they are fat and stiff, which for me is a good thing. I can lean on them with most of my weight, because they are not bendy or wobbly like some of the all aluminum poles. I have done the John Muir Trail twice with them, when I finally broke the tip off one after the tip slipped into a crack, and I bent it too far forward. But because the pole telescopes in three segments, I was able to extend the other segments with no change in function.

Answer:	I normally wear a 7 1/2, but they only had full sizes available, so I ordered an 8. They fit comfortably, but there is not a lot of extra room in them. Answer:	I have never worn just the liners but do not see why you could not. The whole purpose of the liner is to be worn under socks to offer maximum protection from the cold. I do not understand why you would not want to wear socks with them.

HOWEVER - my (women's) shoe size is 7.5 and I bought medium, and they are a bit too large. Wearable, but I wish I had ordered the small.
Question:	What would be an ideal sock to wear over these? i live in minnesota so it gets pretty cold, i would probably wear them with a work boot like red wing
Answer:	Any cold weather sock, like wool or wool blends in winter. Light cotton in the summer. If there is an REI near you, you'll find plenty of options. Answer:	Walt: All I can say is that I purchased the XL, and I have a size 13 foot. It was perhaps a little tight, but you want socks of this sort to be tight. I presume the XL might fit 11 - 13, but that if you have a 10 I might go with a Large... However... if your foot is wide (and mine is)... I would advise getting an XL at 10 Wide.
