Answer:	No! Although this question is 2 years old, maybe it could help someone else. This is not the type of paddle that would be at all comfortable (useful) for a kayak. Because you are seated in a kayak, you want to have paddles on each end of the rod or you will be slamming the paddle against the kayak every time you want to row on the other side. This will WEAR YOU OUT!

While holding the paddle shaft with a firm grip with both hands, press hard with each thumb against the flat edges of the 'C clip'. The C-clip will 'snap' away from the paddle shaft, receding the pin that aligns with the holes in the shaft. Then slide the shaft to adjust. To snap the C-clip back into position, you must align a hole in the shaft with the round indentation that is at the top of the middle pole section (that the C-Clip is part of). This is how you assure that there is a hole aligned with the C-Clip's locking pin. If for some reason, you still are not able to release the C-Clip with strong pressure from your thumbs, you might try putting some WD-40 on the C-Clip to make it release easier. This may help you experience how it actually works so you can operate the C-Clip going forward. Do not be afraid to apply too much pressure with your thumbs. You would not be able to break it. ;o)

Question:	What size is the blade
Answer:	I'm 5'11" and I have to have it all the way out to the last notch for it to be perfect for me. II think someone 5'1" could use it at its shortest and be fine. I think 5'11" is the shortest length of the paddle from tip to top of handle and 7'2" the length when fully extended. Keep in mind you're going to have some of that in the water and then you want to be able to put your hand on the top of the paddle. Grab a long stick or pole and stand on a chair and with about 1' below the surface of the chair, mark where you're comfortable putting your hand that would go on the top of the pole. That should give you at least a close idea of the length paddle you can use.
Question:	can the middle section of the 3 piece be left out? I am looking for a shorter paddle when kneeling or sitting on board
Answer:	Bill, Yes the blade is set at an angle. Not sure the exact degree but it's probably close to 10. It also has a concave shape so it's hard to tell.
