7 best inline skates wheels
Inline skate wheels are a critical component of inline skates, contributing significantly to a skater's performance, speed, stability, and maneuverability. These wheels play a crucial role in various activities, such as inline roller skating, roller hockey, and other outdoor recreational sports. Here's what you should know about inline skate wheels:
Wheel Materials: Inline skate wheels are typically made from polyurethane (PU) or similar materials. The choice of material affects durability, grip, and overall performance. Softer wheels offer more grip, while harder wheels provide better speed.
Wheel Size: Inline skate wheels come in various sizes, typically measured in millimeters (mm).Smaller wheels (e.g., 72-80mm) are ideal for agility and quick maneuvers, while larger wheels (e.g., 90-110mm) provide greater speed and stability for long-distance skating.
Wheel Durometer: The hardness of inline skate wheels is measured on the durometer scale. Common durometer ratings for inline skate wheels range from 78A (soft) to 85A (hard). Softer wheels are suitable for outdoor skating, while harder wheels are better for indoor or smooth surfaces.
Wheel Profile: Inline skate wheels have different profiles, such as flat, round, or bullet. The profile affects the wheel's contact area with the ground and, consequently, its stability and grip.
Hub Design: The hub of the wheel is the central part that attaches to the skate's bearings. Hubs can have various designs, including solid, spoked, or open-core. Hub design affects the wheel's weight, strength, and responsiveness.
Wheel Cores: Wheel cores can be solid or hollow. Hollow cores reduce the overall weight of the wheel while maintaining strength and performance.
Bearing Compatibility: Inline skate wheels come with standard bearing slots to accommodate inline skate bearings. Bearings are essential for smooth and efficient rotation of the wheels.
Wheel Sets: Inline skate wheels are usually sold in sets of four, corresponding to a single skate. Some skaters may choose to mix and match wheel sizes or durometers to suit their specific skating style and needs.
Wheel Maintenance: Proper maintenance of inline skate wheels is crucial for longevity and performance. This includes regularly inspecting wheels for wear and tear, rotating them to distribute wear evenly, and cleaning or replacing bearings as needed.
Specialized Wheels: Depending on the activity, specialized inline skate wheels are available. For example, roller hockey wheels are designed for the demands of fast-paced hockey games, while aggressive inline skate wheels are built to withstand tricks and jumps in skate parks.
Terrain Considerations: The choice of inline skate wheels should match the type of terrain you'll be skating on. Softer wheels are better for rough surfaces like asphalt, while harder wheels are suitable for smooth indoor surfaces like rinks.
Choosing the right inline skate wheels involves considering your skill level, skating style, and the type of skating you plan to do. Experimenting with different wheel sizes and durometers can help you find the ideal combination for your specific preferences and needs. Properly maintaining your wheels will ensure a smoother and more enjoyable skating experience.

User questions & answers
Question: | The product title says 72 mm but the picture shows 80 mm. Can you please clarify? Thanks |
Answer: | The short answer is "yes". This fixture is designed to be mounted to a junction box. I suppose you could get creative and use the space inside the fixture as the j-box, or even use a "pan box", which is a 1/2" deep j-box that mounts to the top of the lathe. So long as your plaster is 1/2" think or so that could also work. However, they also make a screw-in fixture that will utilize your existing porcelain fixture, and still give you the PIR motion operation of a light. Unfortunately, I believe that the only version that is available of this fixture is a compact florescent. Still, something to consider. |

Question: | Your site says only 2 instock. Is that 2 wheels or 2 sets of |
Answer: | Yes, my 10 lb pomeranian makes it come on. I just holler at him to turn off the light. The cat doesn't usually activate it. Sneaky little devil. It doesn't make any sound at all, so we just got used to it. |
Question: | Can you use these on concrete |
Answer: | I think that is all.... Just check the bottom part is not falling down.... If it is holding it will not fall... By the way, I used different screws because the screw was not working go through the ceiling... Good luck... |
Question: | There are slight differences from one side of the wheel to the other. Does it matter which side face in vs out on the skate |
Answer: | Confirmed. You can remove the light sensor. This allows the light to activate regardless of the amount of light in the room. Google the MB990 user manual on the Mr Beams website. |
Question: | Do I need to buy bearings also? I've never changed the wheels before and I'm not sure of what I need |
Answer: | This works great in the shower but keep in mind it is a heavy unit. I used waterproof adhesive and waterproof double-sided tape only to have it fall. The steam loosened everything I used to mount it. The only thing that kept it mounted to the shower ceiling is tile adhesive. |
