| Answer: | I will attempt an answer. The insertion into the hitch allows a latch mechanism to go into the security hole on the hitch. Then you use the knob dial to tighten the bike rack into the two inch hitch. Once it is very tight, the dial itself has a key lock which once locked makes the dial turn freely without loosening the hitch, thereby making it secure. It seems adequate to me, though obviously a dedicated thief with a hacksaw could cut the latch bar itself. |
