Answer: first off the pads are sealed in black cloth and they feel like foam instead of gel. they are also put on the metal rest cups by double sided stick on. hardware is made well and tighten up fine for me.

Answer: These cushions are made of a uniform semi-solid gel. They can be cut to shape. They are however meant to be used under handlebar tape, so I would not use them "naked."

Answer: Yes, you can cover the entire hand position area both on the tops around the the hoods and the drops. Also recommend the comfort gel padded tape, also by Planet Bike. I have nerve compression issues in my palm/wrist and this combo helps a ton.

Answer: Not sure what you mean by "vertical" bars. This kit contains only the 2 cross bars that go side to side. They attach to the rails that run the length of the top of the car front to back that should already be there. Then, depending on what you plan to carry, you may need an additional set of holders for kayak, bicycle or whatever, that would attach to the cross bars.

Answer: I am 5' 6" and using them on a size 19in. comfort touring bike. They should be fine on your road bike, and they are adjustable for, and aft. So, I think you should be all set.

Answer: The picture shows red, but the logo is white. Great bars. You may end up covering that portion of the bar with grip tape anyway.

Answer: My elbow to hand is about 12 inches and I would guess I might be able to get maybe 4 more inches in adjustment. You might want to try seeing if a bike shop might have some aerobars on a bike so you could get an idea. I think they are great and would recommend them.
