User questions & answers
Question: | What are the measurements of the pedals |
Answer: | Yes it is reverse threaded. |
Question: | Would these pedals fit a child's 16 inch wheel bike |
Answer: | I do not know if you have to worry about rust, it does not look like it would be a factor. The bigger factor is the bearings. Quality outdoor petal bearings are probably sealed better against dust, dirt and water in that environment vs these petals that are designed for indoor. Looking at the petals I do not know if it will be a factor |
Question: | I know I need a 1/2" thread but what are the dimensions of the pedal itself? I have a bike with 12" wheels and need the smaller pedals |
Answer: | Petals shafts are pretty much standard for ALL bikes, stationary and mountain, cruiser, road or racing, at 1/2 or 9/16 inch threads. I do not know how much you weigh, but if you do not bend regular petals, you shouldn't bend these. Also, since this petal has a strap, you center your foot on the petal reducing the possibly of putting all of you weight on the outside of the petal. I think you should be fine. |
Question: | are they sold in pairs |
Answer: | Yes, that's why I got it. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the lowest inseam (seat to pedal |
Answer: | The lowest seat to pedal measurement is about 29" for the Schwinn IC3 |
Question: | Is there a way to switch the distance read out to miles instead if kilometers |
Answer: | Yes...there is...read the instructions...if i recall when you plug in the display hold down the up and down arrows... when display changes press up to go to miles. I could be wrong, but it's definitely in the instructions...just did it the other day. hope it helps. |
Question: | what is the highest inseam (seat to pedal |
Answer: | The highest measurement from the top of the seat to the pedal at it's lowest position is about 38". |
Question: | Rode it less than 45 mins and started to make clunking or popping noise when pedaling. Anybody had this happen |
Answer: | Our pedal stripped out of the crank after 3 uses as well. All while waiting 3 months to receive (understandable with Covid). My wife was in the middle of a work out and I heard a thud, rushing in to see what happened I see the pedal on the ground and my wife standing over top of it. She was lucky that she wasn’t seriously injured when the pedal threaded out. My wife then calls customer service and sits on hold for 3 hours. We did get connected to a man that was very nice and seemed to be helpful. He informed us he would get us a new part but then says it will be 3 months before we get the part and kindly offer a refund. Willing to give it another shot we told him to ship the parts and we would wait. We are now close to 3 months into waiting for the part and I receive an email stating the part is delayed for another month. I have very respectfully reached out on numerous occasions to now try to get a refund and there has been no response. Sorry, I don’t have another 3 hours to sit on hold waiting for someone to actually pick up. I will be returning this bike one way or another and taking my business elsewhere. I would not recommend this product to anyone and based on others reviews it doesn’t seem like an isolate issue. Do your self a favor, spend the extra money and get a Peloton. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Warranty? Bearings are getting stuck |
Answer: | Warranty only covers parts and not labor. I was able to get Amazon to provide a refund because I was just outside the 30 day return window. With the cost of labor, you might as well throw the bike in the trash. |
Question: | Is the 18 inch bike too large for a boy turning 4? He's 90% for height |
Answer: | The 18" bike is recommended for riders 5-9 with a height of 42"-52". The stand over height for the 18" is about 20". Thanks, Jen |
Question: | On the balance bike, I am wondering about the seat height from the ground to the shortest seat position |
Answer: | It will vary depending on tire size but since the 18 is most common that measurement is 23 inches |
Question: | Where can you buy an extra tire and wheel frame |
Answer: | We bought a new tire at our local bike shop. The rear tire on ours had a hole in it when we received it. |

Schwinn SmartStart bikes are made to fit your child's proportions
What is Schwinn SmartStart? It is a complete redesign of bike geometry to better match a child's body type to create a more comfortable, ideal riding position. This includes a lighter bike frame for added control, smaller grip diameters to match smaller hands, and a more narrow pedal position to match children's smaller hips. Other kids bikes are just shrunken down versions of adult bikes.
On a SmartStart bike, there will be less wobble while the child pedals so they will feel more confident and comfortable while going through the learning process. Plus, the seat angle was changed so as the seat is raised the reach distance to the handlebar also increases; meaning that the bike will fit your child longer.
Schwinn Koen with 12-Inch Wheels
Fits children 2 – 4 years old, or 28 – 38 inches tall. Adjustable saddle and a slack seat-tube angle allow the bike to grow with your child and comes with training wheels.
Schwinn Koen with 18-Inch Wheels

Schwinn Koen with 20-Inch Wheels
Fits children 6 years old and up, or 48 - 60 inches tall. Adjustable saddle and a slack seat-tube angle allow the bike to grow with your child.
