Answer:	The soft loop is for looping around the clevis on the jet ski and back to the hook. This prevents damage to the ski. I have a Yamaha Waverunner and the aftermarket hooks are too large to fit the clevis on my ski.

They are only used for tying up to the dock, you cannot pull with them. They are strong but,,,, DO NOT ATTEMPT !! Answer:	I took my straps and hook to hook the min is 14” You might also want to cross them. I think they actually hold the boat in the back better , hope this helps
