12 best bike helmet mirrors
Bike helmet mirrors are accessories that attach to a cyclist's helmet, allowing them to have a rearview while riding. These mirrors are valuable for increasing safety and awareness on the road. Here's what you need to know about bike helmet mirrors:
Types of Bike Helmet Mirrors:
- Helmet-Mounted Mirrors: These are small mirrors that attach directly to the cyclist's helmet using adhesive, clips, or straps. They can be positioned to provide a clear view of the road behind you.
Benefits of Bike Helmet Mirrors:
- Improved Safety: Helmet mirrors help cyclists keep an eye on traffic approaching from behind without having to turn their heads, which can be especially useful in busy or fast-moving traffic.
- Reduced Blind Spots: They minimize blind spots and enhance a rider's overall situational awareness, making it easier to change lanes or make turns safely.
- Convenience: Helmet mirrors are adjustable, allowing cyclists to customize the viewing angle to their preference.
- Quick Glance: A quick glance at the mirror is more convenient than turning the entire upper body, allowing the rider to maintain better control of the bike.
Installation and Adjustment:
- Installing a helmet mirror typically involves attaching it to the helmet's surface or visor using the provided mounting hardware.
- Adjust the mirror's position until you have a clear view of the road behind you without obstructing your vision.
Mirror Types:
- Some helmet mirrors use flat mirrors, which provide a clear and accurate reflection but may have a smaller field of view.
- Convex mirrors offer a wider field of view but can distort the image slightly.
Compatibility:
- Ensure that the helmet mirror you choose is compatible with your specific helmet model and design.
Maintenance:
- Keep the mirror clean to maintain a clear view. Use a microfiber cloth or gentle cleaner to remove smudges or dirt.
- Check the mirror and its attachment regularly to ensure it remains secure.
Safety Considerations:
- While helmet mirrors can improve safety, they should not replace regular shoulder checks and proper signaling when changing lanes or making turns.
- Adjust the mirror so that it provides a clear view without obstructing your peripheral vision.
Legal Regulations:
- In some regions, there may be specific regulations or restrictions regarding the use of helmet mirrors. Be aware of local laws and regulations related to cycling accessories.
Bike helmet mirrors are valuable tools for cyclists looking to enhance their safety and awareness while on the road. When used correctly and in conjunction with other safety practices, they can help reduce the risk of accidents and improve overall riding confidence.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this mirror let you see what's on your right side as well |
Answer: | I have been using this mirror for probably under a year, and I really like the wide field of vision. My single complaint is that it hasn't been stable. The arm attaching the helmet to the mirror is flexible. his means that I must re-adjust it regularly. Doesn't take long at all, but I'd rather that arm be fixed rather than flexible. All these answers to the contrary lead me to believe that I must have done simething wrong, but I"m not sure what. Otherwise, I'd give this mirror an unqualified '5.' Excellent product. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you buy just the mirror |
Answer: | Yes, it can be adjusted in 360 degrees. |
Question: | Can this be mounted on either side? May be a dumb question... but, all documentation has been left side prominent |
Answer: | Absolutely! This is solid, I highly recommend this. You can move it to another helmet, I have dropped this a few times and it stayed in tact. |
Question: | Does anyone have reliable contact info for the manufacturers? The website on the package isn't active |
Answer: | It is neither glass nor metal. There is a plastic coating over the mirror. My guess is a thin reflecive material under the plastic that is lightweight. There is no distortion in the mirror either. |
Question: | What size it the mirror |
Answer: | This is a personal fit issue. I just measured mine and from the front edge of the helmet it is 3 inches to the mirror. I wear glasses and this fit works for me. Additionally, depending on the size of the zip ties you use, you can extend it out further if that suits you better. |

User questions & answers
Question: | i want to wear this on my eye glasses when I walk. I have been caught off guard when people approach me from behind. I am assuming they will work |
Answer: | Put a piece of the velcro on your helmet. I put mine on the left side on the upper side of one of the vents. Then you can add the mirror and remove it when you don't need it. I use it on my road bike and then take it off when I ride my commuter bike that has its own mirror. |
Question: | What are the dimensions of the mirror itself |
Answer: | I have had no problem with the mirror falling out, it seems very solid. I have only had it for a month, and only ride streets and not rough trails. Hopefully that helps. |
Question: | compact or original size |
Answer: | Egg shape, 1" x 1.5". Picks up PLENTY of the view behind you. I love this mirror. Don't know how I rode without it before |
Question: | What should I see in the mirror when adjusted correctly? I have been unable to see things directly behind me that are far off |
Answer: | No it doesn't fold but it does twist up mostly out of the way. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How to attach it to the helmet? Are there more detailed instructions |
Answer: | Not that I know of. But you can have my mirror. My sister threw away the sticky tabs that adhere the mirror to the helmet. |
Question: | Does the glass mirror ever fall out of its frame |
Answer: | If you mount it on the right side, the arm will point upward and the mirror will be above the helmet. The arm would have to be reshaped so that the mirror points downward. The arm is flexible, but i don't know if it will bend 90 degrees. The mirror itself can be rotated 360 degrees. |
Question: | What are the dimensions of the mirror itself |
Answer: | no |
Question: | Does this fold up & out of vision's way like Boba Fett's range finder/antenna |

User questions & answers
Question: | Has anyone fit this mirror on to a lectric xp bike ? i suspect that it will probably involve either slitting the end of the grip or cutting a hole |
Answer: | I had to cut a whole in my hand grip so the mirror could slide in. Easy to do and mirror very easy to install |
Question: | I broke the bracket around the mirror when I dropped my wife's bike. Is it possible to get a replacment mirror only? (exclude mount |
Answer: | Not in this Consumer World ! Maybe you can 2-part epoxy the the bracket (?) I use epoxy on EVERY THING ! ( AT least the mirror itself is stainless steel, methinks.) |
Question: | How stable is mount? I'be tried several bike mirrors over the years and almost all vibrate so bad that I can't even see anything in it |
Answer: | I generally like this mirror on my road bike with drop bars, but it vibrates like crazy. It is Ok on smooth flat roads at 15mph or so, but if you go 30 mph down a chip-and-sealed road, you won't be able so see anything useful. It helps a little to ride in the drops, where the weight, pressure, and compliance of your hands and arms dampen the vibrations. |
Question: | Will it work on drop bar bikes? Can you actually see cars behind you |
Answer: | I have it installed on my drop bar bike, I can see cars behind me when I remember to look at it and I have it adjusted correctly. |

User questions & answers
Question: | can this work with sunglasses for runners |
Answer: | This product comes in 2 sizes:compact size has mirror = 20x37 millimeters (HxW)original size has mirror = 28x37 millimeters (HxW) |
Question: | Is the mirror flat or concave |
Answer: | I have both sizes. Each has its advantages. Given the pricepoint for this item of equipment and its relative importance, I'd suggest that you purchase both items, too. However, if you are looking for a recommendation, here it goes: ORIGINAL: 29mmx37mm mirror with 81mm armature. The mirror being larger and on a longer arm tends to bounce slightly more. However, it seems to be slightly easier for my eye to focus on the farther-away image. Also, I seem to have less issues seeing with background glare using the original version. COMPACT: 18mmx37mm mirror with 46mm armature. The mirror being on a shorter arm helps compensate for the field of vision of the smaller mirror. For me, the horizontal field of vision of the compact mirror is better than the original. (I can see slightly wider, but at the expense of having to concentrate slightly more.) Verdict: If you're the type who is just interested in the device simply working without any hassles, then get the original. On the other hand, if you're the type who is willing to put the extra effort into getting the best possible performance from an item (accepting that extra effort can be a chore at times), then get the compact. |
Question: | Are you getting one mirror or two? The picture shows two mirrors, but the title says "Mirror |
Answer: | Think of this mirror as the same as if it were an outside rear-view mirror on the door of your car. Assuming you are in a country that drives on the right, you would turn your head slightly to the left (to about 11:00 o'clock) to view the car mirror. While driving, you don't even think about it... right? You automatically just turn your head slightly to the left to look into the mirror. Also, just like in a car mirror, take short glances... (More on this later.) That is how I set up my bike mirror mounted to the left (flat) frame of my glasses. Here is how I do it: 1. Find a stable place where I can sit on your bike in the riding position while being stationary. A building, park bench, or other solid object on your right side is perfect to "steady" me during adjustment. 2. Position my body into "riding position". 3. Turn my head slightly to the left (mimicking your head movement as if I were using a door mounted mirror on my car.) 4. Adjust the mirror while sitting in that position, just as I would for my car's outside rear-view mirror. Continuing with the "mimicking a car mirror" theme. Remember that when you use a car mirror, you don't need to read the license plate of the car behind you... you just need to know it is there. That is, when using a car mirror, you take short glances... then get your eyes back on the road. It is the same with this mirror. I say that because some people complain the mirror gives them a headache and seeing detail in the mirror is difficult. You would get a headache with a car mirror too if you tired to use it for long viewing shots behind you. (Not to mention it would be dangerous to take your eyes off the road for so long.) ... Remember... take short glances! So the major points are: 1. Adjust the mirror with the anticipation of turning your head slightly to the left, just like you would in an outside car mirror. 2. Take short glances, then get your eyes back on the road, just like you would and outside car mirror. I have been using these mirrors for years. I've replaced a few, not because they wore out, but only because I have lost them. In at least 10 years (probably much longer), I have never had one break or "wear out". |
- ★ ADJUSTABLE FLAT MIRROR - 360 degree rotation mirror, 3 pivot points for total adjustability. Adjusts for both left-side and right-side use.
- ★ LIGHTWEIGHT MIRROR - Only 9g, ultra-light to wear. No any additional weight on the side of your glasses. Can be attached to either your eye glasses or helmet visor.
- ★ DURABLE FOR USE - ABS electroplating flat mirror & aluminum rod. Scratch Resistance and No risk on mirror breaking. The short arm of this mirror minimizes the vibration and improves visibility.
- ★ CLEAR VIEW - Only a glance of it, uninterrupted wide and clear vision easy to get. You can find the most suitable place to have a great view after several adjustments. 【NOTE: Peel of the protective film before use.】
- ★ A MUST HAVE for Cyclists - PChero Bicycle Glasses Mirror allows you to have a clear view of traffic and other cyclist approaching. Increase your safety on the road, added the feeling of security to you!
