We do have customers who have purchased our poles for their kids and who've found that the poles truly help their kids especially on uphill or uneven terrain. Now, for choosing the right trekking pole for them, there are several factors you need to consider. First is the height - you can measure the length between your child's elbow to the ground and if they are at least 24.5 inches, then our poles should be suitable for their height. Other factors to consider are weight and the size of the grip - and these two really depend on your kids' strength and hand size. There are poles that are specifically made for kids with a lighter weight and smaller grip and these might be more suitable especially for your 5-year old. The disadvantage of it is that kids can outgrow those poles quite quickly due to limited length adjustability (they are shorter, which makes them lighter). Our poles should not be a problem for your 7 and 10 year old, but might be a bit on the heavy side for your 5-year old (each pole is 9.7 ounces which is roughly the weight of 5 tennis balls), but on the plus side, it will also grow with your child and will last him a long time. Answer:	It's 24.5 inches short when collapsed. However if that still won't fit your suitcase, you can disassemble it and the length will go down to 21 inches. It'll be very easy to put it back together if you disassemble it.
Question:	Can I hike with them through rivers? Can these get wet
Answer:	Yes, in fact it would be good to have these if you're going through rivers - they'll save you from accidental slips especially if the rocks are a bit slippery, and you can also use them to gauge and test the ground (or riverbed) that you're about to step on. We'd recommend giving the poles a thorough drying afterwards though by taking them apart and patting dry or air drying. As with all things metal, rust is an enemy and drying the poles will help prevent that.
Question:	Do the new Trailbuddy screw-on rubber tips screw on to these poles? The pictures don't show a lower set of threads on the tips

The base length (part beneath your butt) is about 13.5 inches. Hope this makes sense, and all figures are approximate.

Easy Quick Lock Mechanism

Before using your poles, make sure that your locks are firmly secured. While the tip is on the ground, test to ensure the lock is secure by pushing on the top of the handle so the tip presses into the ground. If your pole shortens while doing this then you need to readjust the height and tighten the lock more.

Step 1. Open Tab and Adjust

Fully open the quick lock tab and adjust to desired height.

Step 2. Tighten Thumbscrew

Tighten Thumbscrew by turning it 1/4" to 1/2" turns clockwise.

Step 3. Close Quick Lock Tab

Quick Lock Tab should be difficult to close when properly tightened.

Step 4. Test and Readjust

Apply weight to the pole. If pole begins to collapse, repeat steps 1-3 until it remains at desired height.

Answer:	Yes, it will fit in a suitcase. Even a carry on. It folds into six sections and I don't think any section is much more than 12 in long. It traveled with me to and from the US and through Australia for a month.

Answer:	I think it would be tough, since I have the lowest height set and I'm 5 ft 6 in. I did read one review where they took out one of the pieces of the pole so it would fit their height - would involve retying the elastic though...you might want to check some of the other comments. I'm not sure why they didn't give the option to adjust to a shorter height...good luck!
Question:	What size replacement tips will fit? My daughter has worn through both the provided rubber tips and she said a 1/2" replacement tip was too big
Answer:	I bought this for fly fishing - haven't received it yet, but for my previous fishing staff I attach it to my chest pack with a carabiner and some paracord. The paracord tether is long enough that I can freely use the staff when wading, and then I just let it hang when not in use. This will be nice that it can collapse down into a small pack too.

Answer:	Cannot understand why that would happen unless you are not pulling the upper section up till the little ball comes out and clicks the rod in place. Sorta like an umbrella.

Answer:	Well, the trekking poles don’t double as rifles.....altho they assemble fairly quietly, I would do that prior to going out. The wrist loops are nice but even if you use only one (as I did for my last hike), it’s not short enough to keep it from dragging on the ground. Basically, the pole will only be as quiet as whatever is underfoot and wherever you place it. Also comes with several different tips (which might help in softening any sounds.

Answer:	There are two models; one with real cork and one with a very nice cork like material. The non cork model comes with a slightly longer pole expansion for we tall people. I think the material is excellent...feels great, functions perfectly.

Question:	how do you fold them, once you've used them
Answer:	Very easily: a) unclip the white clip at top (though this may not be necessary); b) press IN the little silver button that originally clicked the sections into place; c) once you've pressed it in, then the sections will be loose, and you can pull each of them out (they'll have the string connecting them), fold them, and hold them together with the little black velcro strip.
Question:	How do you lock the pieces together
Answer:	First let all the pieces dangle on their wires. In the handle is a further pull out section, which as you pull it out takes up all the slack in the wires. Keep pulling that section out until a button springs out to lock everything solidly on place.The pole can then be extended by lifting the black lever on the handle section. The lower part can then be adjusted by pulling along the length and locked at the desired length by pressing the black lever back. If you want to fold the pole, depress the little silver button and the 3 sections can then be folded into is carry bag.

Answer:	HELL YES. I was using the 'Campbell Cane' but felt like a Steam Punk Gandalf. Got idea for Ski Poles cause they look better and lack that extra couple feet of cane above my hand. Great job guys. And screw vacation. I use mine daily.

Answer:	If you mean spring tensioned to absorb shock, no, they do not. Once locked to length, the pole is rigid. However, the rubber tip used for asphalt walking that is included does absorb some shock by design as it's a soft rubber with multiple nubs on it.

Answer:	Mine currently have Leki tips on them and they're 26.5" long. It would be nice if they were a shade shorter, because then they would fit better in airline carry-on luggage. I was able to take mine back and forth to China in the carry-on with no problem, but when I travel domestically, the allowable carry-on bags are much smaller.

Answer:	I am not at that point yet. I am recovering from a hospital stay and use these (right now) primarily for balance. However, in future, I see a full swing upper body movement when striding along a nice walking path we have near our house. I don't see why you wouldn't get a good upper body workout by maximizing your swing/stride movements! These walking poles are wonderful in my opinion anyway. :)
