User questions & answers
Question: | What is the smallest pot diameter this stove will hold? I have a small pot that is only 3.5" in diameter and think it may not be stable. Thanks |
Answer: | Measuring tip to tip on the supportsame is 4 1/8 inches. I wouldn't go smaller than 3.5 but I think you're good. Make certain the stove is on a level surface. It works great. Get a small GSI coffee pot. |
Question: | How adjustable is the heat |
Answer: | Very adjustable. You can turn it up full (rocket) or turn it down for a nice simmer. |
Question: | How long does a fuel canister last with this stove? Planning a trip would like to know how many canisters it would take for a week |
Answer: | I recently took a 3 day 2 night trip with this stove and a single 110 gram canister. I Used it to make breakfast 2 cups water in a Mountain House scrambled eggs with bacon and 2 large cups of coffee. Then dinner was very similar. So I used it 4 times to boil about 4 cups of water each time. I still had enough fuel left for a couple more meals. Use a windscreen, a wide base pot like an Imusa .9 quart grease pot. I would think a single 230 to 250 gram canister would be enough. If you want to have a backup use an alcohol stove. I do regardless. |
Question: | Where is it made |
Answer: | The MSR Pocket Rocket is made in Korea. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Are the straps such that you can carry like a backpack |
Answer: | It has the one strap. You can lengthen it and throw the bag over your head to the other shoulder and carry it across your back that way or just shorten it for over one shoulder. Hope this helps |
Question: | I own msr denali classic snowshoes and have 4 inch tails.will they fit |
Answer: | You would have to separate the tails. But the bag is meant to hold all the parts. There are slots on the inside meant to slide the tails into with the snowshoes filling the main compartment. |
Question: | how securely does the pack hug the body? I'm a trail runner and need it to not jostle too much. Thoughts |
Answer: | The adjustable strap can be tightened down pretty well. On its tightest setting I had a hard time putting it on and it was uncomfortably tight (I am 6' tall 190lbs with a 46" chest). After loosening the strap about 8" it was certainly secure enough to walk around with and perhaps even run, but it did jostle. If I were to take this trail running I would attach an additional nylon strap around my waist and secure it to the loop sewn into the bag. I would note; there is no padding on this pack and I found it uncomfortable to run with as the snowshoes poked into my back. Adding some neoprene padding could alleviate this. For my purposes (not trail-running, just basic storage and transportation) I really like the bag. It is well built and perfectly sized for the MSR Evo Ascent Snowshoes, the optional detachable tails, and a pair of size Large Outdoor Research Men's Crocodile Gaiters. |
Question: | Will 26" snowshoes fit? It says 25" at one place and 26" at another |
Answer: | We have a pair of 25" that fit fine with room. I think 26" would fit. |

- Fast drying brush resists mold and mildew
- Custom formed handle doubles as a scraper
User questions & answers
Question: | What are the physical dimensions of the item? Will it fit inside an Esbit 5-piece cook kit |
Answer: | This is palm size for most hands. It will fit inside an Esbit CS985HA set, even with igniters, certainly into their CSE2350WN, and likely in the small CS585HA as well - although there it would be tight if you wanted to put igniters and fuel into the set. |
Question: | i dont go camping so how is this useful in the kitchen ? just for really stuck on bits not for general use |
Answer: | Whether camping or not, it's really for stuck on stuff. It would be unwise to use this on anything nonstick (ruin the pan) or cast iron (ruin the scraper, use chain mail instead). Other than that it's just like other kitchen scraper for getting burned solids off a pan. |
Question: | Will it melt if you use it to clean out a hot pan |
Answer: | No not at all, there's times I put water and soap detergent in a pan on the stove and bring it to a boil then use the brush to scrape the bottom. I had no problems with it melting yet |
Question: | Is the MSR Alpine Dish Brush / Scraper safe to use on Teflon dishes |
Answer: | Definitely safe to use on teflon. We used it on a teflon frying pan during a 9 day alpine hunting trip and it worked great. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Approximately how many minutes will a 4 oz canister provide on a high setting for boiling water |
Answer: | According to the MSR website, Burn time (MSR IsoPro) per 227-g / 8-oz. canister: Appx. 60 minutes |
Question: | I am totally new looking at camp stoves. what canisters fir this stove? i see plain number canisters, jf numbered and gm numbered. any difference |
Answer: | Any canisters of that size that has an Isobutane/butane mix will work regardless of the brand. Coleman, Jet Boil, Snowpeak, Msr canisters are really all the same fuel and will work. Always be sure to read the manual to make sure and use proper assembly instructions. |
Question: | Does this come with the stand |
Answer: | Hi, the MSR PocketRocket 2 Mini Stove Kit doesn't come with a canister stand. It's not really needed for use with the small pot that comes with the stove in this kit. MSR does make a universal canister stand that is sold separately. - The MSR Customer Service Team |
Question: | Is the fuel canister supposed to fit into the mug? Pictures on the box and online show that it does. I have an 8oz canister and its simply too wide |
Answer: | Nick, The MSR Pocketrocket 2 Mini Stove Kit was designed to hold one small (4 oz.) fuel canister and the Pocketrocket 2 inside the included pot. It will not fit a 8 oz. canister. |

- Color: Black
- Set of 8 Pcs
- Clips for MSR snowshoes
- Package Dimensions: 7" L x 4.5" W x 0.25" H
User questions & answers
Question: | Would these clips fit straps on Atlas brand snowshoes |
Answer: | These are pretty generic type of clip. |
Question: | Why does it say the dimensions are |
Answer: | They are not 7"... must be a misprint. They were the same size as the ones that I had and work well. |
Question: | Will these fit Tubbs straps? Trying to keep straps in front and rear of snowshoes from flapping around and coming undone |
Answer: | Hi, if your Tubbs straps are 3/4” then these will fit. Don’t forget the max part of the strap can only be 3/4 so the clip will slide on. |
Question: | how large can be the strap than goes inside this? MSR straps are 3/4 of an inch. I wonder if the space is largher than that (1 inch) or exactly |
Answer: | The overall outside width of the strap keepers is 7/8". The inside dimension is about 25/32" - just large enough for the 3/4" straps to fit through. They would be too small for a 1" wide strap. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What exactly does this do |
Answer: | As others have already responded, the purpose of the Evo Tail extenders is to provide more float/support to the Evo showshoes in deep snow for heavier users. My wife, who's 5'4" and weighs around 125 lbs (but you didn't hear that from me!) uses only the Evo snowshoe (i.e. no tails) regardless of snow depth. I'm 6'0", about 175 lbs and if the snow is soft and deeper than 10" I attach the Evo Tails to my snowshoes. I went with the Evo snowshoes specifically to have the flexibility to add or remove the tails as needed for different snow conditions. The removable tails also make them easier to store and transport. Hope this helps! |
Question: | How much do these weigh combined? It’s not clear if the description refers to 1 or 2 of these |
Answer: | I ordered these for my daughter. You will receive a pair of them (2). I believe they weighed around 12 ounces. |
Question: | Will this evo tail fit on the msr denali classic |
Answer: | No it won't. MSR doesn't make any tails that fit it. You'll have to find one second hand. Good luck!Kevin BeckwithGear for Adventure |
Question: | Are there 1 or 2 tails in the package |
Answer: | 2 Tails. |

Question: | what's size 12 in European sizes |
Answer: | I would not recommend using these as an all day wearing boot. They are great for riding a bike, but standing in them all day would probably not feel good. |
Question: | Could you provide the size convertion to Europe |
Answer: | These boots are only offered in one width so the 12 and the 12D are the same size. The sizes have just been listed differently at some point. |
Question: | Do these have a steel plate in the sole for kick start |
Answer: | No they are not steal toe. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this work with the msr lightning ascent womens 25" snowshoe model? thanks |
Answer: | That's what I bought them for, so yes. |
Question: | Will these work with the Lightning Ascent snowshoes I bought in |
Answer: | The tails will work with the 2016 model year Lighting Ascent Snowshoes. - The MSR Customer Service Team |
Question: | Will this work for a pair of Women’s lightening ascent 22in. snowshoes |
Answer: | it says, "Universal: Works with all Lightning snowshoe models and lengths." so it should. |
Question: | Is this just one tail or a pair |
Answer: | It's a pair. I love them, 5 stars all the way. We had a lot of snow in the northeast last year so I picked up a pair to try out on my 30" Lightning Assents. Very rugged, super easy to put on and take off even with gloves or mitts and they definitely add a lot of flotation, depending on snow conditions, up to half the depth of a track. This was tested with one shoe with a tail and one without. In some snow types they can change the dynamic of the shoes a little, giving them higher float in the rear can cause a toe down foot position, but this really only happens when the snow has started to firm up and usually means you don't need the tails anymore. They will scratch the sides of the shoe a bit when being put on but hey, I figure if it's not scuffed up it's too new and you need to get out there and have fun. I would absolutely recommend these if you are a bigger person or just want a more versatile pair of snowshoes. For reference I'm 6'2" and about 220 lb.s. |

User questions & answers
Question: | what stand (tripod) do you guys use |
Answer: | I do not use a tripod with the stove and it is very stable. |
Question: | I think the one i bought has broken. there is no gas flow. how can i get fixed? and how much will it cost |
Answer: | I have had very good success with exchanging MSR products with MSR, normally at no cost. I live in the Puget Sound area of Washington state, so it is just a short drive. I would strongly recommend that you give MSR a call. My 25 year history with MSR has been fantastic with me just having to occasionally pay for the shipping of the item to MSR. It is worth getting fixed. I have used mine numerous time while mountain climbing is very cold, windy and rainy conditions with no issues! |
Question: | Does the product package include gas canister? Is the fuel canister sold separately |
Answer: | This product does not include a fuel canister, it must be purchased separately. I would suggest purchasing MSR fuel apposed to other brands. I have fond that MSR uses a blend of 80% isobutane and 20% propane while most others us a 70/30 blend. At higher elevations and colder weather the 80/20 mixture performs much better than the 70/30 mix. |
Question: | What is the max altitude this stove will work at |
Answer: | I've used it at 14,433 feet on top of Mount Elbert in Colorado before. No issues. The only issue is ambient temperature. Once you get down to 20F or so, the Isobutate does not evaporate very fast, so the gas pressure drops way down, and the burner doesn't put out nearly as much heat. A simple solution to this is to bring a small plastic bowl, and pour some warm water in the bowl, then put the gas cylinder (With stove on top) in the water. The heat from the water will force the evaporation of the gas, and bring the stove back to full power. (Careful, HOT water could cause the cylinder to over pressurize. I get the water to around 100F temp and it works great. |
