Answer:	Hi Jennifer, trekking poles can indeed be used by kids! We do have customers who have purchased our poles for their kids and who've found that the poles truly help their kids especially on uphill or uneven terrain. Now, for choosing the right trekking pole for them, there are several factors you need to consider. First is the height - you can measure the length between your child's elbow to the ground and if they are at least 24.5 inches, then our poles should be suitable for their height. Other factors to consider are weight and the size of the grip - and these two really depend on your kids' strength and hand size. There are poles that are specifically made for kids with a lighter weight and smaller grip and these might be more suitable especially for your 5-year old. The disadvantage of it is that kids can outgrow those poles quite quickly due to limited length adjustability (they are shorter, which makes them lighter). Our poles should not be a problem for your 7 and 10 year old, but might be a bit on the heavy side for your 5-year old (each pole is 9.7 ounces which is roughly the weight of 5 tennis balls), but on the plus side, it will also grow with your child and will last him a long time. Answer:	It's 24.5 inches short when collapsed. However if that still won't fit your suitcase, you can disassemble it and the length will go down to 21 inches. It'll be very easy to put it back together if you disassemble it.
Question:	Can I hike with them through rivers? Can these get wet
Answer:	Yes, in fact it would be good to have these if you're going through rivers - they'll save you from accidental slips especially if the rocks are a bit slippery, and you can also use them to gauge and test the ground (or riverbed) that you're about to step on. We'd recommend giving the poles a thorough drying afterwards though by taking them apart and patting dry or air drying. As with all things metal, rust is an enemy and drying the poles will help prevent that.
Question:	Do the new Trailbuddy screw-on rubber tips screw on to these poles? The pictures don't show a lower set of threads on the tips
Answer:	Makers of Trailbuddy told me yesterday that they had worked on a new set of threads that attach the rubber tips so that they cannot come off. They promised to send me a new lower pole with new tips. I do not know when this will come/ and be offered online. It sounds as if it will be soon...in the next few weeks.

Trekking poles can help to reduce impact over time and prolong your body's capabilities. For first time users, trekking poles may not be as intuitive as one might hope.

Easy Quick Lock Mechanism

Before using your poles, make sure that your locks are firmly secured. While the tip is on the ground, test to ensure the lock is secure by pushing on the top of the handle so the tip presses into the ground. If your pole shortens while doing this then you need to readjust the height and tighten the lock more.

Step 1. Open Tab and Adjust

Fully open the quick lock tab and adjust to desired height.

Step 2. Tighten Thumbscrew

Tighten Thumbscrew by turning it 1/4" to 1/2" turns clockwise.

Step 3. Close Quick Lock Tab

Quick Lock Tab should be difficult to close when properly tightened.

Includes:

• Boot Tips: Serve the same purpose as Rubber Tips with the added benefit of extra cushioning and propulsion on hard surfaces when Nordic walking.
• Mud Baskets: When hiking in mud, sand or other soft surfaces, Mud Baskets allow the hiker to use trekking poles without the pole slipping into the soft ground. This provides leverage and saves energy during wet and sandy hikes.
• Snow Baskets: When temperatures get chilly, prevent trekking poles from sinking into the snow
• Rubber Tips: Perfect for indoor use and on hard or slippery surfaces. Some environmentally sensitive sites (such as Machu Picchu) require Rubber Tips in order to protect delicate terrain.

Note: Collapsible trekking poles should not be used for downhill or cross-country skiing.

TIP OPTIONS

The poles are constructed with a tungsten carbide tip that digs into dirt for a solid grip on the ground. Brazos interchangeable tip walking sticks come with a rubber grip that covers the tip for traction on roadways or concrete paths. A plastic mud/sand basket is also provided and attaches to the pole to prevent the carbide tip from sinking too far in and becoming stuck. Select the tip or grip for your terrain and walk with total confidence.



TELESCOPING DESIGN

Brazos hiking poles are fully adjustable to accommodate each user. A telescoping design allows each retractable walking stick to be adjusted from 43.3 to 53.2 inches; measurement tick marks on the shaft and a twist release locking mechanism make the process simple and secure. The poles collapse to 27 inches for easy storage and portability. Strap them to a backpack or stash them in your vehicle to keep them close by yet out of the way.



ANTI-SHOCK MECHANISM

Walking on hard surfaces is tough

on your lower body and can cause some real pain. Brazos trek poles contain a built-in AntiShock system to help absorb impact and

offer you greater comfort, especially when you’re descending. Simply twist the pole to turn the optional AntiShock feature on or off.
