User questions & answers
Question: | Are these water resistant? For example; if it rains all week while we are camping will they survive |
Answer: | Water resistant? Not at all! Stay away from this product, as mine was out of function after a night. It's really waste my effort to put it up. |
Question: | Can you hang these from your awning |
Answer: | I hung them with zip ties under the shade tent before I got my camper. There are awning clips that slide into the track. They have them at Camping World. |
Question: | Is there an option to plug them in to an outlet |
Answer: | No they are entirely battery operated with 3 AA batteries. I have used them many many many nights without having to replace the batteries because they are LED lights and don't use much power |
Question: | how long is this product |
Answer: | Got out the yard stick and measured! They are 6' long with a couple of inches left at the controller end. I have a 10'x10' tent and I want 2 sets per side and a couple of sets to free-stand on my tables. I use mine for craft fairs so they are always accessible! |

User questions & answers
Question: | how long does it take 2 adults to set it up |
Answer: | I compared specs on the Coleman website. The only difference is floor vents for ventilation, auto-roll windows, and led lighting. They are the same height in the center by the way, 6ft 2in. |
Question: | What is the difference between the Elite and "regular" Coleman Montana Tent |
Answer: | Hi, To tell you the truth, I'm not sure. We put it up in the back yard to test as is, and it could not handle light rain. We have another Coleman with a steeper slope, and so the water flows off the rain-fly before it can wick through the material (It stood up to a downpour last night). Any of these tents where you have a flat rain-fly above a screen, I believe you will have this problem. I suppose you could spray the entire rainfly with the waterproofing spray recommended for the seams? I'm not sure how much this would cost though. We are likely to go for the Coleman Evanston 8 (non-screen porch version). The only part of the rainfly that is flat is the front overhang above the ground. There is a good 3-star review under the Coleman Evanston 8 by Jeff042479 which describes the waterproofing process for these Coleman tents.Hope that helps. Good luck. |
Question: | Since the main gripe has to do with weatherproofing on this tent...is there a way to prep the rain fly to keep it dry inside |
Answer: | I have this tent and can verify that it works well in Montana (where I live). I have never camped in Ohio but if you make sure the door is facing north towards MT, you should be fine. 😉 |
Question: | will this tent work in ohio or just montana |
Answer: | Blades are connected to the fan. I think supposed to be loose because it is battery operated. I brought two for my aunt, when a/c was out. She loves them. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I want to use it for fishing at night around lakes. Do you think it will produce enough light |
Answer: | The gasoline lantern is the best for night fishing . The reason for this is it is brighter than propane or battery. And burns much hotter than even propane which might seem like a disadvantage but insects mostly mosquitos that can plaque night fisherman fly to the light source and are fried by the heat. In my experience even propane does not compare to gasoline lantern in this aspect. Which for any one who has fished much in summer months where mosquitos are a problem knows what I am talking about. |
Question: | Can anyone say where these are made |
Answer: | Says "China" on the bottom of mine. |
Question: | How do I install the 8 batteries? what secures them in the lamp |
Answer: | 1. With lantern turned off, turn it upside down and unscrew base by rotating counterclockwise. 2. Install 8 batteries in the correct orientation as shown on the battery housing. Be careful that all 8 batteries are installed correctly (be careful about positive and negative battery orientation. There is picture in the directions but you can also check the battery housing. 3. Replace the base by screwing clockwise until hand tight. Check that the base is secure and closed. |
Question: | Does it have carrying handles |
Answer: | Yes. It has a sturdy handle attached to each side of the top that swings up for carrying, similar to the way a pail handle works. The shape of the handle conforms to the shape of the lantern. |

About Coleman
More than 100 years ago, a young man with an entrepreneurial spirit and a better idea began manufacturing lanterns in Wichita, Kansas. His name was W.C. Coleman, and the company he founded would change life in America. A man plagued with such poor vision he sometimes had to ask classmates to read aloud to him, Coleman saw a brilliant light in 1900 in a drugstore window that stopped him in his tracks. He inquired about the light inside and discovered he was able to read even the small print on a medicine bottle by the illumination. The lamps had mantles, not wicks, and were fueled by gasoline under pressure instead of coal oil. Soon afterward, Coleman started a lighting service that offered a "no light, no pay" clause--a big step forward for merchants who were burned by inferior products that rarely worked--and drew substantial interest from businesses that wanted to keep their lights on after dark.
In the ensuing years, Coleman expanded its product line well beyond lanterns. The company's current catalog is thick with products that make spending time outdoors a pleasure. There are coolers that keep food and drinks cold for days on end, comfortable airbeds that won't deflate during the night, a complete line of LED lights that last for years, powerful portable grills that cook with an authentic open-grill flame, and much, much more. Always have a light at the ready with the versatile Coleman 2-in-1 utility light. It combines the ease of a hands-free area light with the convenience of a handheld flashlight. The magnetic system easily attaches to any steel items, such as your toolbox or underneath the hood of your car, or use the damage-resistant backing to magnetically attach it to your tent. For situations where the magnet won't work, the mini bail handle makes it easy to hang. When you're on the go, simply switch to flashlight Mode and you can take bright light with you anywhere. Its rugged exterior protects against impacts from falls of up to two meters. That's twice the impact resistance of most other lights. In addition to its exterior protection, the interior of your light is also protected by the Battery Lock system, which stops battery drain. On a normal light, there is typically some residual drain as long as the battery is connected in the circuit, even when the light is off. By simply sliding the top switch, you can completely disengage your batteries, so they can be stored in your light for years (up to their inherent shelf life). you'll also reduce the toxic corrosion that can damage your light. No matter how many ways you use it, you'll know you can trust this light in any situation for years to come.

User questions & answers
Question: | Does the light come with a remote |
Answer: | It is located under the bottom of the igloo. I love ours. I bought it because my husband is sick and needs ice 24/7. The ice makes in less than 5 minutes. Really good, soft ice. Best little ice maker out there in my opinion. |
Question: | Is this canopy water resistant |
Answer: | When I make ice, which is usually every other day, I put a quart of water in the reservoir twice. Which is probably six ice maker baskets if ice which I transfer to ziplock bags and place in the freezer. Works perfectly for the two of us. |
Question: | Does it come with the power pack |
Answer: | You have water (or I use water and vinegar mixture) in it. Then, you push the clean button. It runs (for 10 minutes or so, I think), but does not make ice during this time. Then, you take it to your sink and pull the drain plug to release the cleaning water. I do the entire process one more time (with just water) to rinse the vinegar mixture out. This provides the machine with a basic clean. Keep in mind, however, that deeper cleanings may be necessary every once in awhile, because the 'clean' cycle only runs water where it would have run if it had been making ice. So, it doesn't splash around in there while cleaning like a dishwasher. I hope this answers your question. |
Question: | what color is the canopy |
Answer: | 105 watts |

About Coleman
The outside is calling and we create innovative gear to help you answer it and experience memories you won't find inside. It all began when we created the first portable, gas-powered lantern that illuminated the first evening football game west of the Mississippi. In WWII, our camping stoves transformed the way soldiers ate in the field. We continued to revolutionize the outdoors with our cooler manufacturing in the 1950s, and in the decades that followed we added tents, sleeping bags, lighting, and more.
After 120 years, Coleman gear is everywhere you are: on the trail, by the lake, at a tailgate, or in the middle of a music festival. We're always around a place where there are friends, coolers, and campfires.

User questions & answers
Question: | is there an available regular/electric plug in for this fan? Having trouble finding it available for purchase |
Answer: | I have never used the divider, so I just keep it as one big room. The divider is just a really thin polyester sheet that hangs from the center if you attach it. It has a zipper to open to the other room. |
Question: | Does it come with a remote |
Answer: | There are metal strips that you insert into the center of the tent window where you will find a long slot made for this. The metal strip will be coiled up like one of those metal toy bracelets that snap around your wrist. Once that has been installed, and the velcro closure sealed to keep the coil from coming out, the window will coil up, along with the metal strip, whenever the window is opened. Question: | Can the light be completely off while the fan continues to run |
Answer: | Yes, the door zips shut and has to be unzipped in order to use the velcro door feature. We were really impressed with the features and ease of use of this tent, considering the low price. It's very lightweight, and could easily be used for backpacking, although we use it for ATV camping on our ranch. |

User questions & answers
Question: | how big is it when packed up in the bag |
Answer: | If you don't expand the bag, the tent packed inside the bag is 47" x 10" x 9" |
Question: | It's not waterproof ok, what about dust in a desert environment? would the inside be full of dust after a week |
Answer: | If you were to keep the zipper windows closed you would have a sauna. The tent is not torrential rain proof, but it is waterproof and that goes for inside as well as out. |
Question: | When did Coleman start selling tents without rain fly's |
Answer: | The tent has an integrated rain fly. There's a video on the Coleman site that shows it performing. For me though, I'd buy the optional rain fly accessory for added protection and ventilation. |
Question: | can this be set up inside |
Answer: | This has been the best tent ever!!! As long as you have the space to set it up in it can go anywhere you want it too. My Boyfriend and I have been camping for over 20 years and this is the best tent we have ever had :) |

User questions & answers
Question: | When used with the room separator, is the rear door a separate enterance |
Answer: | The room divider goes from front to back, and not side to side, if that's what you're asking. Because the doors arent aligned, each door leads to a separate "room". Here's a vid that shows you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYvLW1_YSfk |
Question: | Do the overall dimensions for the tent include the screened area? If not, can anyone provide the dimensions for that space |
Answer: | According to the description, the 17x9 dimension is for the tent sleeping area, which would not include the porch. It says that the screened porch is additional, which would mean that it is not included in the 17 x 9 dimension given |
Question: | How long does it take to set up |
Answer: | The first time it took about 30 stressful minutes. I did it by myself so it would take a lot less time with 2 people. I can now set it up by myself in about 10 minutes. It's super easy. Make sure you follow the instructions as they are color coded. It's a great tent especially the door. The only negative is the screened in area is kinda small and does not have a floor. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase. |
Question: | Does it come with everything you need to set it up or do I need to purchase other items |
Answer: | Yes, it comes with everything you need to set it up. The only thing I would suggest is to buy some seam sealer and go around the seams to prevent water leaks. But it includes the rainfly, stakes, directions, etc. I love our tent, I hope you do too! |

User questions & answers
Question: | waterproof |
Answer: | Yes, very waterproof. My husband used it to go deer hunting in a downpour, so it was a good test of the waterproofing. He discovered it is a summer tent, with great ventilation, which he didn't want in a winter storm. It was barely large enough for him or two smaller children. It sets up easily too. |
Question: | shipping |
Answer: | You could set it up on a ship. Make sure to wear your flippie floppies while doing so. |
Question: | Can you ship to Paris? how much will it dust |
Answer: | I live in an arid region in the Caribbean and I ordered this tent in 2016, 4 years ago. I just opened it again last night for the first time in years and set it up in my lockdown back garden which is on the ground (more like sand here on the equator) to have a spontaneous outside camping night. Well next to being virtually in a new bought state with no discoloration, or time induced damage the tent was virtually dustless .. I can know as I have severe allergies and hayfever. I swear it also rooted the weeds that were growing and sweeped the back porch clean of dust&sand too. exiting the tent I felt like I freshly showered and my clothes were folded too! Highly recommended |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does the screened in portion of the tent have zip up flaps in case it rains? It is hard to tell in the pictures. Does the screen room have a floor |
Answer: | Hi! The screen room does have a floor- same type of plastic floor as the main portion of the tent. The windows on the inside of the tent have zip up flats, but the screened in portion at the apex of the tent does not. That is covered only by the rain fly. |
Question: | With the back being 80% screened, does this make it too cold inside for kids (just in regards to regular cold mountain mornings--not winter camping |
Answer: | We went camping in this tent in mid-September at approx 12,000 ft above sea-level in Colorado and yes, not having a permanent cover over the back of the screened portion made it very cold. We ended up having to cover the back screen wall with moving blankets we had in the back of our car. This is just a one season tent for high altitudes, summer. |
Question: | If i was going to lay a tarp down first before setting the tent up(so nothing pokes through bottom), how big of a tarp would i need |
Answer: | we have a 16x20 ft tarp that we slightly fold over about 2 ft. that gives us about 3 ft in front of the tent as an entrance outside of the screened in area. you definitely need a large tarp for this tent even though it may look ridiculous when you fold it out :) |
Question: | I know the whole thing is 14 x 10. What size is the dome? Is it 10x11 like the other Evanston |
Answer: | Sleeping area is approximately square - about 10X10. The porch is about 4 ft deep and 10 ft wide on the sleeping area side, but the front porch corners are angled, so the front width of the porch is only about 9 ft. |
