Answer:	Never thought much about this and two of the descriptors puzzle me a bit, but here goes: Seems to me to be somewhat of a flood effect, with a bit brighter but fuzzy hot spot. This spot measures roughly 8 inches in diameter at 3 feet, and maybe 2 feet in diameter at 10 feet. For what it's worth, I carry one of these everywhere, and has been very helpful to my aging eyes. With intermittent use, the single AAA can go a week or two (maybe more). Love these! Don't know if I helped at all, but I gave it my best shot.

Answer:	There is no indication that the battery is replaceable. If it were, it would probably cost more than a new flashlight anyway. When/if it gives out, you'd throw the battery away anyhow. That is the bigger pollutant than the rest of the plastic case. With all due respect to the environment, I'd say it's a minor worry.

Answer:	If you are looking at the same lights as I am (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZZNVKKV?ref_=pe_527950_33920290_dpLink ) it doesn't say it is rechargeable. It works as a regular night light normally and if the power goes off it will switch to AA batteries and keep the night lite on. The article says the batteries have a life of about 250 hours. Since it uses regular AA batteries they might need to be replaced probably once every year or so. I can tell you from experience that they are nice to have in case the power goes off at night. That's more than 2 revs of the charger PER SECOND for FOUR HOURS. There are 3600 seconds in an hour, so that's more than 2 x 3600 x 4 revolutions or about 30,000 revolutions in total. These small hand-crank devices need to be thought of for providing an hour or two of LED light or radio reception, or maybe getting a few short calls out of a dead cell phone. Solar will not be much better, even in direct sun. Key is to keep this charged fully at all times and rely on the internal battery for much longer run time and/or a much more significant charge to your cell phone.

Answer:	The actual battery this uses is a 17500 rechargeable or alkaline, 17mm diameter x 50mm length and 3.7volt. it is the same length as a AA but bigger in diameter. In a pinch you can use a cr123a battery which is 3.6 volts as well and the same diameter however shorter. I used a syringe that I had for my kids medicine, jammed it full of aluminum foil packed it down with the syringe and then cut the outer syringe to the length that I needed to make it the size of an a AA battery and put it in after inserting the shorter CR123A battery. You need the plastic around the aluminum foil so you don't short it out. The real answer is to get a 17500 battery rechargeable or not, for it's the right battery to use.

Question:	Is this the real patriot flashlight or a knock off
Answer:	It only has 2 brightness levels, but you do not need to cycle through them to turn it off. Short press changes mode...Long press of about a second cuts it off. Very simple and basic. I would suggest that you get 14500 batteries for the added brightness. I really do like the light for its convenience. It has a combination beam with a brighter center spot and reasonable flood. The magnet is convenient at times.
Question:	Does this halo flashlight have the Compass also
Answer:	Yes, It rotates around the 90 degree axis. It operates at any angle in between straight and 90. It's not a fold over not a rotation along that line you see just above the button. VERY well made light. Price has gone up $2 since I purchased it at $9.99 but its still a GREAT light and I love the fact that it used 1-AA battery. puts out a lot of light, fits in the palm of your hand and runs on a readily available power source.

Answer:	It costs only $13 so it's made in China, if it was made in New York it would cost $130, if London $230 :)
Question:	Where is the on/off switch for this lantern
Answer:	Just disassembled mine to make the lens "frosty" instead of clear (keep from burning my retinas!). There's a microswitch on top of the battery compartment. A long spring connected to the LED array presses against the switch to turn it off--extending obviously releases the switch. The battery compartment cover can be installed in 4 positions (rotating 90 degrees between). If not in the correct one of the 4, the spring would never press the normally-closed switch (opening the circuit and turning off the light). If your doesn't turn off, I'd suspect wrong orientation of the cover plate or that the spring has fallen off. Either would be a pretty simple fix. Curiously, I also found the long center screw was installed upside down. The bottom end plastic is shaped to capture the nut. It made initially disassembly slightly more difficult (you'll need a 7mm socket or open-ended wrench).

Answer:	Hello, the ad is not actually showing a battery but the collapsed lantern. It does take AA, 3 of them. I didn't buy my original lantern on Amazon but I came to buy a replacement one and looked at the questions. Oh, mine is having to be replaced because it kept getting borrowed once people saw how great it is until it finally failed to be returned. I'm buying several more as gifts!
