Question:	Why is the 546 Stainless more expensive than the Pro S stainless
Answer:	I process 10-15 whitetail deer annually. I use Mora 511 carbon and Mora 546 stainless knives for gutting, skinning and quartering. My wife uses boning knives for the rest of the processing. Both of the Mora models are excellent for my part of the process. In comparing carbon and stainless I will say that contrary to common opinion, I find that the stainless Mora holds an edge for considerably longer than carbon. I attribute this to the fact that deer hides are often imbedded with abrasive dirt and the chrome content of stainless steel provides wear durability in abrasive conditions. And, the fine grained nature of the Mora stainless steel allows you to sharpen to almost as fine an edge as carbon (fine enough to easily shave hair). Either steel works great for this application, but my experience is that stainless holds the edge in abrasive conditions a bit longer.

Answer:	Hi Smokin, Yes, but with a qualification. It fits with pressure- not a strap or lock. It is possible when taking it in and out to not "seat" it all the way. Then it can flop out. I strap them to the outside of my pack and have never lost one or had one fall out. I like the fit of these molded handle models better than the Mora's with smooth rounded handles and tube-like sheaths. A mod could prevent it falling out. I would not recommend depending on the sheath fit and carry it upside down or bungee with it!

Answer:	I disagree with some of the posters on here. Personally I think carbon steel holds the edge 10x's better than stainless steel. The only thing stainless steel offers is it's easy to clean and does not rust. My grandfather was born in the 1800s and was a machinist and produced handmade full tang carbon steel knife blades with wooden handles and rivets. We carried those knives in our family for 90 years passed down from generation to generation and they always kept the edge just by sharpening them on a steel. Carbon steel rust but it's easy to clean all you have to do is use some steel wool and it comes off in two seconds.
Question:	I used this knife while camping and after using it to cut up some meat the blade looks blue now. Does anyone know why
Answer:	I know this question is pretty old but it’s because this is carbon steel and carbon steel quickly develops a patina when used on different materials especially wet ones.

Answer:	If you want solid sharpening system that won't break the bank, buy a lansky blade medic from Amazon for under $10. It's pocket size and carbide and ceramic sharpening methods set to a 30 degree angle to keep your field knife in top shape (as well as a ceramic stone for honing and a flip out diamond file for serrated blades). I have three lansky blade medics and use them on all my Moraknives, Benchmades, Kershaws, and my Leathermans. The are awesome and a must to have. As far as rough field options for sharpening knives, there are several options available: smooth rocks in a creek bed, concrete driveway/road, cinder blocks, metal files, cardboard (when a leather Strop isn't available), roughly ceramic ring on bottom of coffee cups and plates/bowls, flat glass edge on top edge of vehicle window, and so many other methods that can be found on Google/YouTube. The rough diamond file on the sheath is meant to shape the blade when it is to dull to Strop in the field. Wear a real leather belt and use the backside of the belt to Strop the blade after using the rough diamond file on the sheath. Cardboard can be used in place of a leather belt/leather Strop to Strop the blade (stroping the blade removes the metal burs built up on the edge of the blade that cause the blade to be dull; it is common to see an old fashioned barber Strop a straight razor before he/she shaves your face).
Question:	Is upgraded sheath (fire/ sharpening stone) worth the money
Answer:	Sharpening stone is extremely rough, scratch's everything. All my sharpeners have been smooth. Great idea to have it attached to carrying case but feel very uncomfortabe using such a rough sharpener, especially with the marks it left in the black finish of the knife when I tried it out. Not a fan of the Plastic. Knife does come out easy enough. Knife it's self I like, disappointed in rest of it, especially stupid cheap clips that attach to it, finally got the one in ...now can't get it off. Comes with no instructions, which would be helpful since you can't put fire starter in either way...one way it falls out, teeth of fastener to fire starter ... Hope they don't give out, doesn't feel secure.

Answer:	No. It is a rat tail tang. However, as long as you don’t abuse it by trying to baton through extremely knotty or excessively hard wood, it can handle almost anything you throw at it. I have several older Morakniv brand knives. They have withstood decades of use.

Answer:	It's a symmetrical handle and blade, so it will work for either hand. (Not that I'm sure it would matter if the blade was beveled to the opposite side anyway???)

Answer:	Absolutely! The earlier version of this was my go-to carving knife for a long time, and I still use it occasionally. Understand that the “bowl” of the spoon is easier to carve with a hook knife (or similar, ie “scorp”, etc). It will do a great job of general shaping, and a passable job of carving the bowl.

Basic 511 is the most used of our classic knives. Appreciated and loved by professionals and hobby craftsmen for generations, it’s a proper Mora knife. This knife is designed and intended for Scandinavian construction workers. Here, our priority is a sharp and durable edge with a good grip, which means that the look of the spine isn’t a high priority feature. You are more than welcome to use any of our knives for your intended needs, but keep in mind that the spine will be 'raw' (not grinded) on most craftsmen and construction knives. Question:	Is this a good all around knife for fishing? I'm not using it for filleting, but as a bait knife or cutting line
Answer:	This is likely overkill for fishing unless you're doing it deep in the backcountry. Mora does make a cork-handled serrated knife that might be a better choice for cutting line and bait. Shorter more controllable blade and it floats.
Question:	Does the Garberg fit into the Kansbol sheath
Answer:	Yes. The garberg is almost too grip heavy but the sheath still does a decent job.
Question:	This knife blade is shorter than the mora 2000, is this knife legitimate? According to Amazion, both the Kansbol and 2000 have a 4.3 inch blade
Answer:	Just measured mine to 4.25From what I've read from fans of the Mora 2000 this is a slight upgrade of the same knife.

Question:	Is this knife roughly the same or maybe even better than the Bushcraft knife
Answer:	Both the Bushcraft Black and the Companion Heavy Duty have a 3.2mm thick carbon steel blade. The blade of the Black is slightly longer (4.3") than the HD (4.1") and it is also wider. The Black also has a DLC (Diamond Like Coating) to aid in the prevention of rust. The other apparent aesthetic differences are the handle grip and the sheath which will largely be a matter of personal preference.Performance-wise I would say they are very similar. They both seem to be good to great at most bushcrafting tasks though I would probably give a slight edge to the black for batoning with the slightly longer and wider blade. With either knife maybe limit the log diameter to 3-1/2" to 3-3/4" max. Both should hold an edge very well and sharpen fairly easily with the Scandi grind on both knives. Perhaps the most significant edge for the Black over the HD besides the coating (DLC) is the fact that it comes with the spine ground to a sharp 90 degrees allowing for sparking with a ferro rod. The HD can also made to spark as well with a minor modification of filing or grinding down the spine slightly.The biggest difference is the price. The Black will run you $50 - $55 on Amazon right now while the HD has been in the $17 - $19 range. You will have to decide whether the Black is worth nearly 2-1/2 to 3 times more than the HD.
Question:	How is this knife for skinning game? Does it clean up fairly easily? I feel like blood could get stuck in the grooves in the handle
Answer:	I've used this knife on several animals now and it is my go to. We process our own cattle. On cows and young bulls , it can hold an edge throughout, for skinning, parting out and deboning. On an older bull I touch up the blade with either a fine diamond steel or the Fiskars axe sharpener as I go. Pigs are no problem at all. The point is great for making finger holes to pull the skin, IF you aren't keeping the hide. Easily spilts the hide from ankles down the leg. I also gut with it, running it between my two fingers, pulling up, so not to puncture the intestines. It does rust if you don't oil it after every use. I use a green brillo pad and soap to clean it off when I forget. Knife is strong, even if not a full tang. I baton hard wood, like mesquite, for kindling. I also ground the spine so I can strike sparks, works great. The sheath is exceptional IMHO. I have a Morakniv Kansbol, ALSO a very strong knife. I don't carry that one as much because I need two hands to pull it out of the sheath. Where as this Companion has a thumb break. Works great one handed. Rubber handle is also very grippy while bloody and wet. At this price, There is no reason not to own several of these knives. It rivals my $150-$200 knives. No brainer.
Question:	Is there any difference in how easy these three knives are to sharpen or put an edge on ? Also is there any difference you have noticed in how well these knives hold an edge and how they performe carveing or wood working . The three knives I mean are the robust , the comapoin , and the compaion heavy duty .Thank You
Answer:	I own a host of knives, have made knives, and consider myself in the top 85%-90% of sharpeners. This puppy won me over BEFORE I sharpened it - possibly the best edge I'd put on something. I hadn't worked with scandi grind before this, and now I'm a huge fan. Easy to sharpen because of the large flat edge, takes a true razor's edge, and holds just great. It has dulled with use, but held up very well and never got to the place it couldn't cut. Just strop often or touch it up on 1000/5k stones and hit strops. Beautiful - love it. I recommend the carbon all the way - better edge, fun to patina, rust hasn't been a problem (sheath breathes well, something you don't read about, but true!). I grab this knife because I got it for $13, and the camp knife I made would break my heart to lose or damage. (Also, I have to admit it - it's not as good a knife....even though you'd have to pay $150 for it. you sort of HAVE to get a Mora...)
Question:	Which is a better bushcract or survival knife ? This or the robust
Answer:	I myself have found the Mora Companion H.D. Is the one thats a prefect fit. Im 6ft 3" , 257 lbs An Have Large Hands ,, the Large Handle just feel more comfortable. Feels safer . I can get a firm grip on it , whether powering thru a Breast Bone or Pelvic Bone , my hands dont Slip .. The Knife cleans up really well after use .. An holds a Edge well , most times just 4-5 strokes on the wetstone is all it takes to bring the edge back , if stropping wont do it . An for the price you can beat it .. They could probably charge 2-3 times as much for this Knife... Now you aint going to be able to Baton 6" Dia logs with this Knife - it aint made for that . But as a all around knife nothing I've ever seen compares.

Question:	how sharp does the knife come??? Does the sheath keep the knife held in place??? Will the back of this blade work with my fire steel
Answer:	The knives come sharp and hold an edge. The sheath holds the knife snug and the knife snaps in. I use mine as a neck knife. I filed a flat edge on the back of the blade next to the handle for that purpose and it works well. I love these knives and own several. I have given a lot away and everyone has loved them.

Answer:	This knife is Pootie Tang.
Question:	is this knife good for salt water
Answer:	No! This knife is made of carbon steel and will rust. There are other versions of this same knife such as this one (http://www.amazon.com/Mora-Companion-Stainless-Steel-Fixed/dp/B004ZAIXSC/ref=pd_sim_sg_8 ) in stainless that would be much better suited for use around salt water.
Question:	Why can't you ship to Ventura County, CA
Answer:	Despite what our opinionated Amazon friends from Texas might believe, California has some of the most permissive laws regarding knives in the entire country. However, local laws in LA County and Ventura County do not allow the possession of a knife greater than three inches. "Liberal" San Francisco doesn't have any of these restrictions, and it is 100% legal to open carry a samurai sword on Market Street. My recommendation is that you have the knife shipped to a friend in SF or the Central Valley. Hope this helps!
