User questions & answers

Question: Can this stove be used with other brand fuel canisters, or is Optimus fuel the only kind that fits
Answer: Thanks for contacting Oregon Mountain Community. The Jetboil pot support is not all that necessary. If you do go over 2 liters of boiling water, I suggest purchasing the pot support. This system comes all ready for use right out of the package. Hope this helps.
Question: Do the hot lips fit on the mug
Answer: Jetboils are best used to boil water. You can cook in them to make things like pasta, rice and soups. Anything that you can burn can be a little hard to clean off. In the case of rice, if you can some burned rice in it then you should boil some water in the cup after your done. It'll make the rice that may easier to clean up. Any of the models will essentially perform similar to others. The Zip doesn't have the ignitor on it which is pretty helpful to get things going quickly and not have to carry a lighter. To get the ignitor you'll have to upgrade to the flash, minimo or micromo. A little more money up front but I think worth it in the end if you'll use it a lot.
Question: Does it have the stove that attach to the feul with a sleve
Answer: Yes
Question: How many ml is the pot
Answer: The zip is smaller and you need matches it does not have the self lighter attached like the personal.

User questions & answers

Question: Will this work with the Optimus Polaris when using liquid fuels (kerosene for example
Answer: Yes it has a seal, and fuel can be stored in it, but you'll want to test it first to avoid leaks, i got two of these and both of them leak
Question: Will this work in a survival situation with camp fire igniters
Answer: yes and it fits the kojin which makes it awesome
Question: will this light up gasoline
Answer: While I do not know those products; it is aprox 3 inches square on top. It is very sturdy. I myself was impressed with the customer vid with the dumbbells! And tried it myself when received. Plus it weighs very little and when folded in its pouch fits in my hand!
Question: Will this light a waxed cotton wick or waxed cotton ball
Answer: No, it will not; the cup bottom is too small. You can place some flat metal "rods" across the stove but it is still a less than ideal or stable solution.

User questions & answers

Question: How can i install the svea 123/123r head on it i couldn't figure it out
Answer: This unit comes with a fuel cup that locks into the upper slots of the stove. It doesn’t come with the holder to accept the alcohol burner. Lixada makes basically the same unit that comes with the alcohol burner. It sells for about $25.
Question: Is white gas the same with lighter fluid
Answer: Yes, but you will also need a windscreen even if it is not windy to improve efficiency. The stove and rack are very good quality and ultra light, but without a windscreen, you will have to use a lot more fuel to boil 2 cups of water (3-4 fl oz w/o windscreen vs. 1.5 fl oz with windscreen)
Question: does this reduce the thermal efficiency of the stove
Answer: I used to pour about 30 ml of alcohol to boil 2 liters of water but it can hold twice that much (but keep in mind , it is very hard to put off an alcohol fire so dont overfill)
Question: Some what confused on fuels. Yes or No, will it work with unleaded Gasoline
Answer: It is not a fiberglass wick. It looks like a metal mesh wick. I have not tried the evernew so I cant compare them side by side. But it has a mesh wick that looks to be metal..... I was thinking the same thing. It appears to be an evernew clone
Question: With an adapter Can i use a standard Coleman propane
Answer: 1) No lid. 2) Either learn just the right amount of fuel for the burn you need (measuring marks inside) or just let the fuel burn off...Maybe find a jar lid that would do the trick.

User questions & answers

Question: What is the smallest pot diameter this stove will hold? I have a small pot that is only 3.5" in diameter and think it may not be stable. Thanks
Answer: Measuring tip to tip on the supportsame is 4 1/8 inches. I wouldn't go smaller than 3.5 but I think you're good. Make certain the stove is on a level surface. It works great. Get a small GSI coffee pot.
Question: How adjustable is the heat
Answer: Very adjustable. You can turn it up full (rocket) or turn it down for a nice simmer.
Question: How long does a fuel canister last with this stove? Planning a trip would like to know how many canisters it would take for a week
Answer: I recently took a 3 day 2 night trip with this stove and a single 110 gram canister. I Used it to make breakfast 2 cups water in a Mountain House scrambled eggs with bacon and 2 large cups of coffee. Then dinner was very similar. So I used it 4 times to boil about 4 cups of water each time. I still had enough fuel left for a couple more meals. Use a windscreen, a wide base pot like an Imusa .9 quart grease pot. I would think a single 230 to 250 gram canister would be enough. If you want to have a backup use an alcohol stove. I do regardless.
Question: Where is it made
Answer: The MSR Pocket Rocket is made in Korea.

User questions & answers

Question: Does any one know what type of cook set this burner will fit in
Answer: Good Afternoon,Below please find the types of cookware that can be used on the Induction Cooktop. What type of cookware can I use on induction?Since induction is based on magnetic principles, the cookware used must have aferrous (iron-based, magnetic) bottom. Some types of cookware are made of naturalmagnetic metals (such as pure iron), while others are made to be magnetic by“sandwiching” a thin layer of a ferrous metal within the base. This layer in the base iswhat will be affected by the magnetic fi eld of the induction cooktop and distribute theheat.Induction Compatible Cookware:• Stainless Steel (Note: Not all stainless steel cookware has magnetic properties.Check with a magnet before use*)• Cast iron• All Fagor cookware and stainless steel pressure cookersNon-Induction Compatible Cookware:• Copper• Glass• Aluminum• Pottery type vessels* The easiest way to check whether your cookware is compatible with an induction cooktopis to take a magnet (a refrigerator magnet will suffi ce) and see if it sticks to the bottom of thecookware. If it sticks, your cookware will work on the induction cooktop.
Question: where was this product made in
Answer: Yes
Question: Can you use a Coleman propane canisters from Walmart
Answer: It does
Question: The Commodity price times $80.70, is not included Gas
Answer: I've only used it once with an alcohol stove, but it didn't warp.
Question: What holds the adapter to the stove. Is it threaded or held in by gravity
Answer: It will still leak & denatured Alcohol will still evaporate because the crimping is not soldered. Best just not to store fuel inside it unless it’s the solid heat tab, Esbit type tablets.
Question: Explain how this product works. Does it replace something? Or does it slide over something
Answer: I’ve used it to make coffee and boil water for freeze dried food. It won’t forge metal. It will burn sticks, grass, pine cones and such so whatever temperature a burning pie cone can achieve that’s the highest temperature I tested
Question: Can I order
Answer: Both the trangia and esbit burner will fit if placed on the bottom plate, but are not wide enough to use the slot used by the oem alcohol burner.

User questions & answers

Question: Has anyone used this with the regular optimus crux burner? Visually seems like the air holes in the shield would be too level with the burner
Answer: I don't think it would give off enough of a spark to light a waxed cotton wick or ball. It gives off small sparks, but just enough to ignite gases. It is mainly made for the small lightweight stoves. I hope this helps!
Question: will this work with the primus express
Answer: 15x11.6x2.5 inches
Question: Will it work with MSR Pocket Rocket
Answer: Yes, I don't see any reason why a 12 in pan couldn't be used, however I don't think it would heat that whole surface. The top of the unit is 11-3/4 in wide by 14 in tall, with nothing sticking up at the edge. The markings for the "burner" area, though, are only 8 in by 8 in.
Question: What are the dimensions of the Optimus Windshield will it work with a Esbit pot with heat Exchanger
Answer: The bottom has to be flat and should be induction friendly. I've recently learned cast iron pots are okay. I don't know what the bottom of a 20-quart pot measures but as long as it fits inside the area of the cooktop, it should be okay.

Answer: The Optimus Sparky Stove Lighter can be used with both canister and liquid fuel stoves
Question: Can you use other gas canisters with this stove
Answer: it is not appropriate for camp fire. It works for camping gas canister stove, lantern and portable propane and butane only.
Question: Does this kit include the storage pouch that allows one to nest the crux stove under a fuel cannister
Answer: Only if it well atomized with oxygen such as the burner on a gas stove. If you hold it over liquid gasoline it may light the vapors above it, but then you will get a flash burn.

User questions & answers

Question: Does this work with butane cylinder canisters
Answer: It just sits on top. There is nothing to install
Question: The Image and the name is wrong, is this the optimus canister stand or what
Answer: No. Lighter fluid is not White Gas. White Gas is also known as "Coleman Fuel."
Question: What is the measured weight
Answer: In my experience it does not effect the thermal efficiency of the stove, it does what it's designed to do and that is to dampen down the noise of the stove, which it does very well.
Question: does this stand works with Primus canister
Answer: All I can tell you is I have the Quietstove model 107 V2 for my MSR Dragonfly stove and I've always used regular unleaded gasoline becuase it's cheap and readily available. It works fine for me. There may be some issue over time with carbon residue, but I figure I can just clean the burner if that happens. So far it hasn't been an issue.
